Williams, Deniece - Love, Peace And Unity Lyrics

There's a struggle going on
It's everywhere
There's a need to be free
It's in the air
There's a cry out for justice
It's growing strong
And it's got everyone knowing
There's something wrong

Oh, what we need is a lot more love
Oh, what we want is a lot more world peace
Oh, what we need is a lot more unity
Oh, what we want is a lot more equality
For you and me

There's an arms race going on
No one can win
War is still the biggest business
Profits from sin
They are children who are starving
And so few of us care
They're learning less but getting higher
From junk in their heads

Oh, what we need is a lot more love
Oh, what we want is a lot more world peace
Oh, what we need is a lot more unity
Oh, what we want is a lot more equality
For you and me
For you and me

Ooh-ooh...
Uh-huh
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh...
Uh-huh
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh...
Uh-huh...
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh...
Uh-huh...

Oh, what we need is a lot more love
Oh, what we want is a lot more world peace
Oh, what we need is a lot more unity
Oh, what we want is a lot more equality
For you and me

For you and me
For you and me
For you and me
Save the children, uh-huh
For you and me
For you and me...

In my opinion, this is one of the best songs from the 80s.

This should be recognized as one of the best songs ever that expresses positive values. It should be up there with Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" and "Heal the World", Stevie Wonder's "Pastime Paradise", Jason Mraz's "Love is Still the Answer", the Jackson's "Can You Feel It?" type thing. It's just as great as all of those by far and I totally mean it. This should be on the radio and not all that crap that manages to make it on the air somehow. This song is real music. <3

“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything; It is the essence of order and lends to all that is good, just, and beautiful.”
    – Plato

“Music directly imitates the passions or states of the soul…when one listens to music that imitates a certain passion, he becomes imbued with the same passion; and if over a long time he habitually listens to music that rouses ignoble passions, his whole character will be shaped to an ignoble form.”
    – Aristotle

"Musical training is a more potent instrument than any other, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul, on which they mightily fasten, imparting grace, and making the soul of him who is rightly educated graceful, or of him who is ill-educated ungraceful."
    – Socrates

Thanks for posting. Have been checking to see if this cut was on here for years. She should have released this song as a single. The message is still relevant unfortunately today.
