This song’s melody is special to me. I can hear the words but the subject doesn’t resonate as much but hearing how she sings “Free” along with the killer backing music? Man I swear, it’s not that the musicians had more talent back in the day, but they were just in touch with something deep within themselves. I can hear this and can tell all they were focused on was the music and that was it, no distractions, internet or anything that could attribute to a sensory overload; none of that shit. Compared to today’s music people would call this complex with the strings and other instruments. But, this music screams of a simpler time in life. Slowed and dumbed down because you just didn’t have a lot of shit to think about back then. Life, love, stability and comfort in the unknown...That’s the real “Woke” to me.
