Wilde, Kim - Fight Temptation Lyrics

You need to know that we're through
Think we're long overdue now baby
Gotta open your eyes and realize that
I won't be the one who will cry

So I'm telling you bye bye baby
I turn around and walk away from all your lies
Even now you know just how to play your games with my mind...

Why did you have to do me like that
I know that it's wrong but still I always come back
You haven't the right to say there isn't any other way
I gotta find a way to fight temptation

How do you control me like that
I gotta move on there's no escaping that fact
I'm not gonna let you say there isn't any other way
I gotta find another way to fight temptation

True, there was a time when we were cool
But you took me for granted baby
And it opened up my eyes to realize that
I was with the wrong kind of guy

Now I'm telling you bye bye baby
Nothing you can say or do for me and you
Even now you know just how to play your games with my mind...

Even now you know just how to play your games with my mind...

Why did you have to do me like that
I know that it's wrong but still I always come back
You haven't the right to say there isn't any other way
I gotta find a way to fight temptation

How do you control me like that
I gotta move on there's no escaping that fact
I'm not gonna let you say there isn't any other way
I gotta find another way to fight temptation

Damn, this is good. Nice to see the energy back in the new stuff. Last couple years were a bit too mellow for my tastes.
And Ms. Wilde, you're just too good at this kind of music to not be doing it! Great song.

@Adam Dawson Well, no, it's so great it's her best album since "Another Step" and all her amazing 80s B-sides and non-album singles full list which I amazed but happy to say. "Come Out And Play" equalled "Close" for me, but suffers from every song sounding too short for its own natural good, and there was a lack of synth on the album. Nothing will ever touch her career best trio of "Select", "Catch As Catch Can" and "Teases & Dares", but I don't expect it too. No one writes songs or makes beautiful synth accomplishments like that any more.

But it is great beyond belief to hear she may do another album. I was just afraid she'd been away so long and felt she was too old for this and she's left it too long to even follow this up, even though she spent virtually all her forties not really making anything beyond a few songs here and there, and not even released everywhere, since her locked away 1998 album (which will remain so forever I presume, just like Kirsty MacColl's 1983 "Real"). I did get to see her tour it in London and was thrilled with the shock appearance of 'Words Fell Down' and 'Bladerunner' but disappointed she so predictably did nothing from her other career best. Her hate and disregard for "Catch" could well have just turned to memory loss of it over the years, but how can you expect to master those songs if you don't even trial them now and again. She needs to include other songs from other years too, and B-sides. She as the greatest back catalogue but doesn't know it. Wish she'd retire a few obvious ones from a few shows to let other things breathe. And it's be lovely not to finish every show on the sodding 'Kids' song.

@Kyach Distent Kim Wilde's music is wonderful just like ABBA both legendary artists with incredible catalogues of music.

@Adam Dawson You are one clever man who knows the truth when he hears it. And I still can't believe how incredible "Catch As Catch Can" is-and how barely anyone know this! Clearly no one understands great songwriting, singing, production and genius when it's in your face, but clearly too understated for words. It doesn't help the Wilde family don't seem to know this either, or just have bad memories., but how hard can it be to re-listen and reaffirm? And ABBA have now done the amazing and recorded 2 new songs after 35 years, something we all figured could never ever happen, despite hoping for ever. Of course we don't dare to imagine a whole new record could be made out of it. But still. Yes, "incredible catalogues of music" indeed, and in Kim's case, never recognised, even treated as a joke if it ever gets said in line with anything else, yet these others are the jokes. The world is full of worthless losers making music, and other losers praising it. That's the joke! And a truly bad one that never goes away! But yes-Kim and ABBA -legends-and who I listen to and sing to the most, and I love most 80s artists (just not the critically exalted ones!)

@Kyach Distent I will be 29 in July 2019 and I love Kim's music and Catch As Catch Can is a wonderful album, I adore Teases & Dares as well. ABBA are my favourite group and their new songs 'I Still Have Faith In You' & 'Don't Shut Me Down' will be wonderful and Bjorn has said more new songs will possibly follow in 2019, I actually think they are recording an entire album or finishing the album they started in 1982 & 1983.

'Fight Temptation' is just a wonderful song and I thoroughly loved 'Here Come The Aliens' its such an incredible album and she kept her sound of the 1980s in it for nostalgic reasons, 'Cyber Nation War' is my favourite song on the album, I also love 'Kandy Krush', 'Stereo Shot', '1969' & 'Birthday' there is not one bad song on the album but 'Fight Temptation' gives the Deluxe Edition so much life, I like 'Select' which is also a wonderful album as is 'Close', 'Another Step' from 1986 and her 1981 debut album 'Kim Wilde', I really love the song 'Lights Down Low' from 'Come Out And Play' the sound of that song matches the sound of 'Here Come The Aliens', I cannot wait to hear Kim's next album.

@Adam Dawson So great to hear that. 'Fight Temptation' is cool, it's like 'Your Wish My Command' or 'Game Over' part 3! I so often feel like I'm the only one who truly gets "Catch". Yes, I adore "Teases & Dares@ too, also "Select"-so impressed her career best were done back to back. Don't forget to include all those great B-side/non-album 80s stuff-beginning with 'Shane' and ending with 'Wotcha Gonna Do'. 15 incredible songs there, of which 'Turn It On', 'Loving You', 'Lovers On A Beach', 'Putty In Your Hands' and 'Hold Back' are my faves of an incredible bunch. No one has ever got the B-sides things right so consistently over all decades like her. It makes sense she'd keep an 80s sound-it's the only sound for anyone to have really of that stature, but the songs still operate in the here and now. But sad she reworked and crapped up 'Addicted To You'-that is the nadir on the album and actually it isn't there. I did play 'Without Your Love' from Eddie Eagle soundtrack in the space, until 'Dreamlover' appeared and realised THAT was the song supposed to start off "side 2". 'Addicted' dates back from 2011, was perfect in its first appearance and should stay there. It was just lazily and unnecessarily restrung, mangled and clapped on just cos they weren't bothered putting on one more fresh song, but boo to them for keeping it limited to one country in the first place back then. Don't see why that song should get this inclusion like its new, when the other 3 with it from back then are just as good, and worthy of being ruined. Worse thing is, stupids will now think 'Addicted' is from THIS album-a new song-and should sound like this! Well it existed in 2011, and is no more welcome on here then a redone 'Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime', 'If There Was Love', or anything else kept shut away.

But yes, treating the album as it should be-with 'Dreamlover between 'Solstice' and 'Birthday', I'm with you on 'Cyber.Nation.War', but it''s a joint fave with the incredible 'Yours 'Til The End' and 'Solstice' (taking over from the initial 'Kandy Krush' listening) is 2nd fave. But I have 2 first faves and 2 second faves on "Select", "Catch" & "Teases" as they're the ultimate.
Like many of her albums, I don't tolerate the edited sounding 'Kandy Krush' and 'Birthday' when 2 brilliant fan mixes exist on Youtube (so perfect and the sound kept the same, they're just extended normally that if this was the 80s or 90s, surely they're the so-called maxis the Wildes would have provided as singles. But "Here Come The Aliens" is incredible, even better than "Come Out And Play" that started it, though in a horribly edited way, and kept barely regional. 'Lights Down Low' matches the typical first-single killer punch that 'Perfect Girl' from the album before and the earlier non-album song 'Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime' already provided, but for me on that album the real winners are a fan expertly 'extended' 'Get Out' and 'Greatest Journey'-which seems to recall a bit of 'Birthday Song' and 'European Soul', and also 'My Wish Is Your Command'. A real pity the songs are all too short, barely any fades and far more guitar than synth. "HCTA" more 80s like thank God, but even then, she'll never have the keyboard the dominating factor. I accept that, but that was what made her '82', '83 & "84 albums so wow!

I really hope she does do another album, as she actually seems to be enjoying this one, and she hasn't enjoyed doing/singing/writing original material for decades, and didn't enjoy too much back then perhaps, as she only tends to feature 2 80s albums whenever she does live shows. I was predictably disappointed as "Catch" album ignored when I saw her live. Otherwise great night, apart from always ending on that 'kids' song!

About ABBA, wow! I don't dare to hope they'll give us a whole album-to make up for the one in 1986 possibly promised, but we never got. But if it's a true report that more than 2 songs have been made for that intention, than 2018 was magical for music when the 2 best things have returned, and I'd long long despaired of EITHER of them doing so.
