Who, The - Why Did I Fall For That Lyrics
The streets of the future littered with remains
Of both the fools and the so called brains
The whole prediction is enough to kill
But only God knows if it won't or it will
Nobody knows why we fell so flat
Most would just survive and then bounce back
But the rest are crying "Why'd I fall for that crap"
Why did I fall for that?
So many rash promises sincerly made
By people who believed that we were being saved
They made us all believe that we were acting white
But the truth is we've forgotten how we used to fight
Nobody knows why we fell so flat
We're impotent and neutered like whining cats
But the kids are crying "Why'd I fall for that dad?"
Why did you fall?
It never rains under my umbrella
Four minutes to midnight on a sunny day
Maybe if we smile the clock'll fade away
Maybe we can force the hands to just reverse
Maybe a word, maybe maybe is a curse
Nobody knows why we fell so flat
We've never been taught to fight or to face up to facts
We simply believe that we'd remain intact
But history is asking why did you fall for that
Why did you fall?
Why did I fall for that
Why did I fall for that
Why did I fall for that

Why did I fall for that?
I fucked fall in love for a girl in 1983.. that im still in love for her !!!
dave now says the who ROCKS! my power song is tricky day. greg lake is next
This may be my favorite song on the album and there are a lot of really good songs on this album. I don't know why Roger has always been dismissive of it. He defended Face Dances alright. Maybe it was because the band kind of worked around Pete's stint in rehab and brought in Andy Fairweather-Low for some the guitar work. Still no matter how it assembled I think it's a good album. It may arguably not be a great Who album although I think it's a good one. But taken on its' own merits I think it's great.
LordRufus dude, you are so right, & that is so cool- Thanx
Nice catchy little tune. Abba like
Saw them on this tour when T-Bone Burnett and The Clash opened in Seattle, and then the next night in Portland. Always liked this song, and It's Hard is an underrated album, imo.
cschoen100 saw em in Buffalo on that tour- awesome ! & I was a punk kid going for the singer of the dolls & the clash lol
Thank you, Pete!
Face Dances was the nadir...this album was an appropriate bounce back, and coda.
And only just that.
I love the guitar in this song
@Marcos Melo that's really cool, great song. It sounds like a tele to me? has that cowboy/tele twang quality to it anyways :)
It kinda sounds like a tele, but Townshend was always using strats at the time. Anyway, it's a great tone.
@Marcos Melo interesting to know, thanks for that..
Nice!!!
+Marcos Melo Actually, Pete was using Schecter Guitars during this period with Tele shaped bodies and necks. He had an old Tele he was using during this period as well. The Schecters were his touring guitars mainly. He didn't start using Strats regularly until 1989.
This album is a masterpiece as all Who albums, quit making twat comments!
minutes to midnite '''''''think about it ? nuke clock .... maybe if we fuckin smiled it would faded away !!!!!
never rains under my .... nuke fall out .... cold war over at that time it was writin pure out look onthe time pete at hes finest.... look forward dont look back
Still love all these "b" quality songs!
It may very well be their worst album, but their worst is still great.
Who by numbers is a piece of shit compared to this very good album.
