Who, The - Run, Run, Run Lyrics

Run, run, run
Run, run, run
Run, run, run
Run, run, run

Well baby, better take my advice
A black cat crossed your path twice
The moon came out next to the 1
Then you opened your umbrella in a room

[chorus:]
You better run, run, run
Run, run, run
Run, run, run
Run, run, run

Well you ain't the luckiest girl I know
And you won't get luckier the way you're going
Your horseshoe's rusty and your mirror's cracked
You walk under ladders then you walk right back

[chorus]

When you dropped that little pin
Never thought what a mess it'd get you in
Little pin, little pin, bring me luck
Because I stopped to pick you up

[chorus]

Well now, little girl, I'm helping you
I hope you believe what I say is true
Whenever you run, I'll be running too
Whenever you run, I'll be following you

[chorus]

Run, run, run

  5. A.... M....

My favorite Stoner song of 1966 it reminds me of speed racer the cartoon very fast and funky

  6. F.... W....

Play this song loud enough and the Bass will literally rip your head off. His tone along with the the root note and added 5th power chords on the bass......incredible.....nobody was doing that at the time....except the OX

  7. K.... V....

Underground Garage plays a ton of this early stuff that FM RADIO ignores..

  8. P.... C....

Jimmy Page must have played the solo on this one. That's a lick from "Good Times, Bad Times" at the start of the lead. I don't think Townshend could have done that then.

    P.... C....

come on mangive it a rest btw see my comment on Sea and sand...Jimmy who??????

    P.... C....

Page took influence from Pete i guess?, Page is not credited on this album.

    P.... C....

@Gabriel Flores Page was with Yardbirds at this time....polish his craft but Pete had already been on scene.

    P.... C....

That's a hard solo tbh. At least you don't have to Page to do it :/

  9. T.... ....

To think this is one of there underrated songs then what do there instant classics sound like?

  10. f.... ....

Using the Grampian reverb unit on the solo?

  11. E.... C....

QUE BUEN TEMA SE SIENTE TODAVIA EN ROCK AND ROLL CAÑERO Y MUY ROCKERO MAS HARD ROCK COMO SIEMPRE PETE TOWNSHEND SIENDO UN GRAN GUITARRISTA Y UN GRAN COMPOSITOR

  12. r.... ....

this was probably one of the first songs i heard of theirs..love it

  13. A.... R....

Legend has it, that Sting was inspired to write "Every Breath You Take" from the lyrics with this little gem...

  14. k.... p....

this cuold be a hit today

  15. R.... B....

Saw them in Frankfurt in 1973 and they were everything my records said they were. Great show.

  16. t.... g....

Did anybody notice that Mr. Moon was laying down a hell of a swinging groove here? Rare because that is not usually what comes to mind when thinking about his playing. Gotta love it!!

  17. v.... w....

Great little rollicking jam, including some neat guitar riffs.

  18. K.... D....

a quick one before he gets home

  19. o.... s....

    sun sun sun😎✌

  20. A.... B....

this song is Fun Fun Fun!

  21. S.... T....

This is a little known classic.

    S.... T....

yeah. I think part of the reason is they didn't often do it on stage.but it really comes bombing out of the speakers .they're fucking unstoppable.they really were a power trio w/ a singer (who started the band).this tune is also outstanding on the BBC sessions.

  22. H.... D....

We will never know what kind of live act the Beatles (who are my favorite band) would become but we do know about the Who. No 1 live band. Thanks to Pete and Roger for 50 f-ing years of kick ass rock and roll.

    H.... D....

    +Howdy Doody SIR<>UR CORRECT. I saw them with Moon twice+2X after,,,the best

  23. M.... S....

One of the great things about The Who in their early years was that they recorded so many great songs that some of them inevitably ended up being overlooked.  This might be the best of those overlooked songs.....

    M.... S....

Tom Petty played it on his excellent XM Radio show. R.I.P. Tom, YOU WERE A TRUE FORCE OF MUSIC, Impeccable taste.

    M.... S....

absolutely. today being friday the 13th I had to hear it.

    M.... S....

lyrics w/ their very own rhythm. John Lennon was right when he said that all the big rock bands/artists owed something to Chuck Berry.Townshend in particular on songs like this and 'Sally Simpson',etc.CB had a knack for placing words in the right spot .Pete often picked up on that when he was writing lyrics. "you walk under ladders and you walk right back"

    M.... S....

    really, sharp man

    M.... S....

her Dad said"don't say I didn't warn ya" Sally got married to a rock musician she met in California

  24. H.... B....

I have yet to see a band with the chemistry of the early Who. Pete was playing the hollow Ric, Keith hadn't cooked his guts with brandy yet, John was still an innocent kid and Roger was a daft street tough punching them in the face if they got out of line.

    H.... B....

    perfect definition.

  25. T.... C....

One of my first LPs back in 7th grade!

  26. t.... m....

what a smoker to start off their 1966 LP

    t.... m....

+tom morrow That "My Generation" guitar tone is killer, saw them in June 67', when they were opening for Hermans Hermits, Pete had a Strat , Vox Super Beatles, this tone, then smashing of instruments.

    t.... m....

+Johngonefishin We saw them precede Herman's Hermits at the Anaheim Convention Center on Sept. 8, 1967. Opening acts were The Sundowners and Strawberry Alarm Clock. We attended mainly to see The Who and departed after they smashed their equipment.

  27. b.... ....

Pure Mod power pop.  Raw, pure and simple.

  28. c.... ....

Lacks the punch of the mono vinyl

  29. s.... ....

What a song! Sort of rediscovered this gem after being into The Who for 30 years!!! The different mixes of this song are awesome! This period of The Who is simply breathtaking!!! Circles, Out In The Street, So Sad About Us etc are brilliant!!!! Of course a year later there is the daddy of them all, albeit in a different level and sound... I Can See For Miles...........:-)

    s.... ....

I can see for miles is outstanding - just so fresh and original.

  30. W.... F....

Little Steven and the best memories from my youth sent me here. This is still king tone.

    W.... F....

Thank you little Steven for reintroducing this song. He spoke of it highly.

  31. M.... ....

This song played when DG saw some of my comics.

  32. T.... ....

    thats not funny

  33. J.... K....

wrf?dont be so bloody nasty punk!!!

  34. H.... ....

been a huge Who fan for 40 years or so, but revisiting this gem is a real treat! Just shows the COMPLETE energy these mofo's brung to it. NO BAND like em EVAR!! If they never existed, someone would have to invent them!

  35. A.... ....

2 people better start saying run run run becasue if the dont or dont strat to run i will kill them who do they think they are disliking this song they are pretty much saying that the who is shit and they really are not because the who will shit on them

  36. N.... ....

@ngiyaxolisa Yeah, I have seen that performance many times...part of it is in the film "The Kids Are Alright" and I think the complete performance is included in the DVD documentary "Amazing Journey".

  37. N.... ....

@ngiyaxolisa No, it was written by Townshend.

  38. n.... ....

OK, don't make me dig out this album. Isn't this an Entwhistle tune, lyrics and music?

    n.... ....

    This is a Holland/Dozier/Holland song

  39. n.... ....

@Nuttybott And don't forget the Rolling Stones with that "Rock and Roll Circus" thing. The Stones were great in concert, but The Who had just come off an outstanding tour and the Stones were simply "coasting" on their reputation. What happened? The Who ruled The Stones so bad with "A Quick One", that Jagger, Richards, and Co refused to release the video. Check out that live performance!

  40. p.... ....

@Nuttybott You are entitled to your opinion, there's nothing wrong with that.Music is a matter of preferance.Yes,I agree that the Beatles peaked around the Rubber Soul Revolver period.Rubber Soul is my personal favorite.Rubber Soul,Revolver,Sgt.Pepper,White Album,or Abbey Road can all be considered as the greatest album in pop rock music.Revolver was voted greatest album, the song In My Life was voted the greatest song ever written. Here,There, and Everywhere is considered the most beautiful song

  41. N.... ....

@Nuttybott ...then again, my personal favourite music from the 60's is the raw n' crude early punk/garage rock to be found on compilation sets such as Nuggets, Pebbles and Teenage Shutdown. Now that is REAL authentic rock & roll! So it is little wonder I prefer the early smash-'em-up Who sound to the more polished, mannered music of the Beatles and their ilk.

  42. p.... ....

@Nuttybott Yes I agree, but let me explain. The Beatles, when they performed, didn't run around the stage and put on a wild show like the Who or other bands. They just stood still and played their music, but really it's the songs that matter most. Each band rises or falls on their songs.Legend has it that when the Beatles released Sgt. Pepper, the other bands were stunned and left wondering how to top that, but they couldn't.Listen to Strawberry Fields Forever. It is a haunting work of art without equal

  43. N.... ....

@poetgb There's no point in turning this into a Beatles v The Who argument. Everyone has their favourites, and the two were very different types of band. The Beatles played classic, melodic pop and rock music but had a bit of a boy band image...at least in the early days. But The Who were a raw, powerful, aggressive bite-yer-legs-off rock aggro band who were without peer in live performance. They totally OWNED every stage they played on. Beatles = greater songs, Who = greater live act.

  44. c.... ....

This is a contender for The Who's most underrated song. Just killer.

  45. J.... Z....

They played this song in my school when i was doing the mile for my fitness testing exam. It was awesome!

    J.... Z....

    Jorge Zenteno that's really cool!

  46. J.... K....

Brilliant !!! MY band The Triffiks did covers of most of the Who songs, not this one regrettably. Anyone here know what A QUICK ONE in the title of the album refers to? 9-. LOL ( Answers on a postcard to TRIFFIKS ) (-:

    J.... K....

the girl 'had a nap' w/ Iver the dirty old sooty engine driver.

  47. s.... ....

@micasa65 Ouep.

  50. F.... H....

@mr10pm Another neat-o Who track that gets missed is 'Someone's Coming.' YouTube has it, check it out if you'se never heard it.

  51. m.... ....

la bonne période The Who ! j'adore

  52. m.... ....

    Thanks for the great post!
As a long time Who fan I feel really silly that I never heard this great tune, I guess I'm not that deep. Anyway, it's neat to hear The Who playing a shuffle, there aren't very many of them in their catalog (not that I'm any kind of expert text-pert joking smoker) Moon was more of a 4 on the floor type of drummer, so this is a nice surprise. Will this do? I think so.

  53. L.... ....

@stoprejectingmynames Not only 60's and 70's BEST BAND OF ALL-TIME!!

  54. v.... ....

    Smashing rock!!!

  55. J.... K....

they are ALL darn great in their own way. i played in a band that did Who covers but we didnt do Run which is a shame cos its a fabulous song.

  56. B.... ....

Unsurprisingly, this is a good song to run to.

  57. S.... M....

    @stoprejectingmynames startrejectinghistrickquestionquizzesdesignedtoprovewhatasycophantheis!

  58. p.... ....

@batosai370 You have a right to your opinion. But we must admit the Beatles were in a class of their own.I read a book on music once and the author said it straight when he said that sometimes the biggest are not always the best, but in the case of the Beatles, the biggest were also the best.Just listen to their songs, nobody wrote songs like Lennon and McCartney. They were the most celebrated songwriters in music history and they were able to back up that claim.Rubber Soul and Revolver, the best.

  59. g.... ....

One person had to hit dislike. REALLY!! You no like, then go back to lady rara or whatever! Just leave and be on your merry way lap.

  60. p.... ....

@alejandrosuckmy I was checking out videos and came across this one and saw so many comments that I couldn't help it, I had to post a comment. It is true that everyone has their own preferance of artists and styles.I admit the Who is one of the greatest bands of all time and have a unique style of their own.Sorry if I offended you.

  61. C.... W....

Hands down the greatest band ever.Period.Cheers for posting!

  62. p.... ....

The Who were a great band and these songs are cool, but let me straighten you all out concerning who the greatest band is.Without a doubt the all time greatest band is the Beatles. All of the other big bands were great, but it was the Beatles songwriting ability that elevated them above all the other bands. The wrote the biggest and best songs in rock and pop music. They had a kind of magic that cannot be equalled

  63. T.... ....

@stoprejectingmynames Correction: the greatest rock band ever

  64. R.... K....

In my opinion, the single best guitar sound on any album ever.

  65. a.... m....

@stoprejectingmynames Whose the best at selling out - THE WHO!

  66. C.... Z....

Who's the best at creating awesome rock songs?
    Pete Townshend!
Who's the best at voicing these songs?
    Roger Daltrey
Who's the best at creating awesome rhythms for these songs?
    John Entwistle and Keith Moon!
Combined they form the greatest band of the '60's/'70's!

  67. c.... ....

    Mugsy

True..the version on my mono album is awesome..the remastering / stereo..seems to have knocked the guts out of the song

    Jim

  68. T.... ....

I've posted a video response of us playing this song, and I believe there are no video's of either THE WHO or any other tribute on youtube playing it (correct me if I'm wrong)
If you click on our video, please read the 'more info' to the right of our video, thanks.

I love this song btw, especially from the BBC sessions.
