Who, The - Daily Records Lyrics

This could be suffering
This could be pleasure
I'm unaware of any difference
My head is aging
My balls are aching
But I'm not looking for deliverence

This could be letting on
This could be highly cut
I'm unaware of ~any difference
One says it can't be done
Then somebody does it - but

I'm not watching for equivalents.

I just don't quite know how to wear my hair no more
No sooner cut it than they cut it even more
Got to admit that I created private worlds
Cold sex and booze don't impress my little girls

Daily records
Just want to be making daily records
Try to avoid the bad news in the letters
Just wanna be making records
Play in - play out - fade in - fade out
Making records day in - day out

And they say it's just a stage in life
But I know by now the problem is a stage
And they say just take your time and it'll go away
But I know by now I'm never gonna change

I could be losing you
I could be coming through
I'm unaware of any difference
You still support me now
You love me anyhow
And I am still under your influence

We've had some years of hate
But now we're in the eights
I'm unaware of any difference
I need you even more
My money keeps me poor
I'm still amazed at your omnipotence

I look at baggy suits and leather capped with puke
I look at Richmond married couples denim look
I watch my kids grow up and ridicule the bunch~
When you are eleven the whole world's out to lunch

Daily records
Just wanna keep making daily records
Can't exist no more in chains and fetters
Just wanna keep making records
Play in - play out - fade in - fade out
Making records day in - day out

Just wanna be making daily records.

Who, The Daily Records Comments
  1. T.... G....

Classic who. All members contributing excellence.

  2. E.... F....

As of this writing, five people officially suck balls!

  3. J.... ....

    The last great Who song.

  4. L.... ....

Brilliant song ! Every instrument is where it should be. John Entwistle s´bass work is amazing. Also Townshend s´guitar work. One of the sadly never played live Who songs....

  5. R.... ....

I should post a bass lesson for this song.
    Entwistle plays great stuff..

    R.... ....

    Please do

  6. d.... t....

What a damn good song. I can't believe people bitched about this album. I really like it.

    d.... t....

The only thing I could find not care for was the drum mix.

  7. P.... N....

    My balls hurt

  8. P.... N....

2019 ere we go again haha

    Utterly brilliant. Thank you.

"And they say it's just a stage in life
But I know by now the problem is a stage
And they say just take your time and it'll go away
But I know by now I'm never gonna change", the best part for me

  12. G.... L....

“Sloop John B,” Brian Wilson-style. The Who were heavily influenced by The Beach Boys. I think Keith Moon listed Brian Wilson and Pete Townsend as his two favorite songwriters.

  13. P.... N....

In other words put simply fucking great

  14. M.... ....

    I'm unaware of any difference

  15. R.... ....

    That intro- classic Pete.
    Beautiful..
"I watch my kids grow up and ridicule the buck, but when you are eleven the whole world's out the lunch".
    Typical brillant Pete..

    R.... ....

That's always been my favorite line from this song.

    R.... ....

I think the line is : "I watch my kids grow up and ridicule the BUNCH." Works better, rhymes with lunch.

  16. A.... ....

The quintessential Who tune for its time. Truly brilliant. Listen to the lyrics.

  17. C.... K....

Pete's intro, on the electric 12 string is evocative of The Beach Boys on 'Sloop John B'.

    C.... K....

Yeah it is. I've heard this song a thousand times and never noticed before I read your comment.

  18. M.... V....

Remember being in jr. high when this came out and thinking it wasn't great, but wasn't entirely bad either. Songs like this redeemed it. When you follow the Who and Townshend's history, how they got this out at all and carried on at all after Keith died is a miracle. And it's not all about the money. What else would they do? Hope I die before I get old? I just turned 50 two weeks ago. I've lived the life of sex, drugs and rock n roll for decades. 50? How the fuck? I get it Pete!!

  19. p.... g....

    Pete's most underrated song.

    p.... g....

pop gun The bridge alone is worthy of Papa Bach.n

  20. N.... C....

    in my head tonight

  21. V.... P....

    Some excellent poetry.

  22. R.... B....

The legend lives on. What a great tune. What a great band.

  23. c.... ....

    One of my favorites.

    c.... ....

    Mine also

    c.... ....

    Underrated and over looked

  24. i.... 0....

    I miss Keith........

    i.... 0....

Kenny Jones is playing drums in this entire album.

  25. J.... ....

The song I can't forget. Love it.

  26. l.... ....

I owned this on 8 track in 1981. Wish I could turn back the clock!

    l.... ....

    +larry930legend same here.

    l.... ....

Same! Wore it and "the Game" by Queen out in 80/81.

  27. s.... e....

    Agree w/Trammix.
Some very good songs on this LP.
    But an inconsistent LP.
This is one of the better songs.

  28. P.... C....

Daily  Records  -   a damn  beautiful  song

  29. a.... ....

What I like most about this song is that in it you can hear a bit of each member doing what they do best.

  30. f.... ....

still better than 90 percent  of the  mainstream crap

  31. A.... ....

They (the who) didn't do an album that I couldn't find some sort of brilliance on. Love them til the end. Hope they are playing in the great beyond as well.

    A.... ....

    Could not agree more.
There was always that moment on each LP ( on some, many more than others) where you just said "WOW".
    Who's Next...Quad...genius at work here.
And at 0:59, behind blue eyes comes to mind.

  32. B.... ....

    Great Tune.

  33. M.... ....

I really like this song-it is cool!
Townshend uses great words like "omnipotence","equivalence" & "influence"!
I like it because it is a bright, happy song, not glum.
    thanks.

  34. R.... ....

    "I could be losing you
    I could be coming through
    I'm unaware of any difference"

    Good stuff

  35. t.... ....

They had signed a $12 million record deal. Enough incentive to stay together, I'd say.

    t.... ....

When they bailed on it without delivering, Pete paid it back for all of them.

  36. g.... ....

Really, The Who had no reason to stay together after the death of Keith Moon. They had accomplished all they had set out to do.

  37. l.... ....

    Pop at it's highest!

  38. d.... ....

    Mine too

  39. t.... ....

My favourite from this album, as well. Thanx...

  40. c.... ....

hmmmmmm so amusing i think pete went through a mid life crisis here

  41. O.... ....

    Love The Who too much!

  42. b.... ....

What a weird album cover. But the LP is good from start to finish.

  43. t.... ....

There were some good songs on Face Dances and this is one of them. It was an interesting & maybe difficult period for The Who.
