Who, The - Amazing Journey Lyrics
Deaf, dumb and blind boy
He's in a quiet vibration land
Strange as it seems
His musical dreams
Ain't quite so bad
Ten years old
With thoughts as bold
As thought can be
Loving life and becoming wise
In simplicity
Sickness can surely take the mind
Where minds can't usually go
Come on the amazing journey
And learn all you should know
A vague haze of delirium
Creeps up on me
All at once a tall stranger
I suddenly see
He's dressed in a silver-sparked
Glittering gown
And his golden beard flows
Nearly down to the ground
Nothing to say, and nothing to hear
And nothing to see
Each sensation makes a note
In my symphony
Sickness can surely take the mind
Where minds can't usually go
Come on the amazing journey
And learn all you should know
His eyes are the eyes
That transmit all they know
Sparkle warm crystalline glances to show
That he is your leader
And he is your guide
On the amazing journey together you'll ride

Who, The Amazing Journey Comments
Just the most amazing adrenalin pumping music ever...
Bravo 💕⚘
It's interesting because it's almost ten minutes into the album before we hear Roger Daltry sing.
I'm not deaf and blind after hearing this. That drumming took me on an amazing journey
Gee every song brings back great memories. I use to play this over and over for several months
angular chord changes..cool
Now that is fucking drumming!
Keith + Pete + John + Roger - "nuff said...
where minds can't usually go.
PROBABLY one of the only "Perfect" long concept albums where virtually every song on it ,..could be a top ten hit on Billboard yet also seems somehow "indie" and underground at the same time; genius music,..genius album !!!
sweet memories of a golden age, so grateful i was there
what a great drummer..what a great writer..what a great singer what a great bass player...the mighty Who....I would never compare them to other groups ..who are huge the Beatles .. Stones..or groups that are great like the Kinks...they are unique.. .they never really write love songs..and of course Keith is really great here..different members of the group really get a chance to shine in Tommy...Johns bass playing is so freaking inventive...and Rodger has so much feeling and range...and of course Pete sort of keeps it all sort of grounded...or else it would fly apart..man I love the Who...get well Rodger please I have tickets for the Vancouver show Oct 21...

Thanks for this!
if only this were on video. i mean the camera over keith so i could see what he was doing and attempt to copy it. keith's drums are un-real, never be a drummer like him again, joey jordison is good but.....
rien a dire, Olive; sacrée **************toi... the Who , c'est Toi. ...
as an autistic man, I can relate to the oddness of Tommy when I was teen.
Keith moon in this song is like a Stradivarius on drums
I saw Tommy on a high school excursion in nineteen seventy-five. Mind-blowing.
Drums are to this song as bass is to "The Real Me."
Amazing Journey/Sparks by far the best songs on Tommy in my opinion.
tjhis is an amazing incredible song performance
Fuck,..!!!! They rock insane,..!!! The who,..!!!!
Love this recording, but think I prefer Roger's older voice & in concert (especially Outside Lands Festival 2017,Amazing Journey/Sparks-- unbelievable )
The whole band was fantastic, but fuck! Moon's drums!!!!
My favorite Who song! Next is Our Love Was.
Good choices! May I say I love them too!
This sucks has more commercials than AM Radio, looking somewhere else.
Happy 50th Anniversary to TOMMY..Released on May 17th 1969
These poor concept albums being broken up by ads
Brings chills up and down my spine.
Couldn’t agree more, especially the lyrics.
God bless this band! Best moon showcase track loved that guys approach to beating the shit out of his kit!,
Is it me, or does this version make me sleepy? It's strangely relaxing and calm, all the instruments sound like a hum especially the bass and drums lol.
Didiw didiw didi didu. Then Rogers singing tops it off lol. Live it's totally wired, but this version? Unusual for a Who song to make you sleepy lol.
I think you're listening to a bieber,.. song,..check yer,..PC,..settings,..
@Pools Spas
Fuck off, I hate Bieber, actually, I hate ALL modern pop crap!. That was a bit random!. I've got my headphones equalized with the mids lower than the bass and treble, in like a crater!.
I fucking hate the plastic sound you get in some songs!. When I use my phone to listen to Who songs, I put my phone in a wooden box with a piece of cardboard shaped like a V and create an acoustic boom box lol!.
I'd try and create an acoustic digital recorder, so you could put two phones in it side by side, and create a two slot recording system, record a guitar with one, finish, play it with the other phone recording and play bass, have the other phone do another recording and play the other track with bass and guitar, and record vocals, or a backup guitar!. The wooden box will reverberate and the phones will pick up the reverb, if you want a metal/classic rock sound, use on the inside of the wooden box and have it partially open, if you want modern pop, use plastic and have it fully open.
Nick and Tom.
I am 58 and this is the first time I will have listened to this album straight through.
I feel like I'm both Tommy and Jimmy
(Quadrophenia). Weirdly, my name is Tim (and my second name's Tom).
Greatest rock drummer, Moon or Bonham? Discuss.
Moon all the way!.
M OON,..!!
Moon kicks ASS on the drums
this just kicks ass plain and simple! Keith Moon!
keith moon melhor batera do mundo
heard this at Mary's place in Birmingham 1971 - she was a child prodigy just home from Cornell - she opened my mind and wow - what a woman.
Moon is so good on this, owns the song. This to me is the quintessential Who song showing his brilliance.
I like to feel elevators.
CLASSIC.
M. O. O. N,..!!!!!!!!!!!!
so refreshing to see that so many people realize how important and unbelievable this album and band is
im here for research for a book im writing
the first record i ever bought when it came out, i still have it tucked away ...useless fact, i went out with someone who went to school with keith, she didnt rate him...oh the arguments :-0.
i totally agree..The Who were and still are Special..different..
plus this album is Amazingly Fantastic..thanks for sharing
Love Moon's drumming! Brilliant.
Syphilis will surely take the mind.
one of my top favs.....
The who was One amazing album recorded right after the next ,..like a machine !!
KINKS,..!!!!!
The Who are Unfair to other bands. They expose those who SUCK ,.... AND VERY QUICK TOO ,... The Who are rock gods who can out lyrics anybody !! maybe even Zappa himself <...
best fuckin who track, if there really is one cuz its hard to pick just one, "young man blues" "shaking all over" "replay" "eyesight to the blind" "5:15" "and the list goes on, what a fuckin genius Pete Townshend" was to write the music that these 4 dudes together made come alive. there wasnt 4 other guys that sounded better or brought more to rock n roll than these 4 immortal , larger than life men, each one of these guys were truly artists in their own right, trailblazers of their craft, and by their pure artistry and individuality brought attention and sheer enjoyment to any and all that were gifted with the oppurtunity to hear these guys in full rock n roll force.
There's a live version of this on Youtube that leads into Sparks. Incredible go watch it!
just listen to the drum work on this song, pure fuckin genius, as much as moonie drank and was a crazy sonabitch, the man could play drums better than anyone, he was truly the backbone of these dudez, stamp, curbishley, were two of the smartest guys in music
Keith being Keith!!!!!
The drums, Oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROCK'S all time number one band -they are the who ,..they "invented" they created ,..and the other bands tried to just hang on for the amazing ride !!!
Every song on this is an Epic !! Not many albums in rock are PERFECT !!!
Seen THE WHO two times live. Next to Zappa they got my ears the highest
Damn, Keith Moon was awesome!!!
The Who is god!!
63 years old, I remember.
The songwriting ,..the lead singing,..the amazing drumming ,.... Awesome album ,... Pete's feedback here and John's bass ,...this whole long thing is an epic !!! The who "Deserve" to be the NUMBER ONE ROCK GROUP of all time ,....
50 years old, but this still fucking rocks!
My FAVE of ALL!
I know Bonham is considered by many to be the greatest rock drummer of all time...but I sure would have loved to see and hear some sort of drum battle between him and Moon.
Tie for the best!!!!!
Greatest drummer with the greatest bassist in the greatest band. The Who love, love, love this band.
Listen to isolated drum track version.....❤️
kieth shreds !
Keith completely and adroitly fulfilled a role he was ready for: an orchestral rock drummer. Tommy, I think, is his best work. It, of course, is Pete's, too.
Keith is devastating those drums!!!
I love to highly destructive or damaging my drums too...
Military training and all of that jazz....
Bold thoughts in a moment of clarity. Mornin all!
1 de los mejores bateristas de todos los tiempos KEITH MOON
my name is tommy
A brilliant song in all ways.
moon the loon uncaged.
Sickness can surely take the mind
Where mind can't usually go
Come on the amazing journey
And learn all you should know
It reminds me " when you wish upon a star " from Pinocchio
keith moon,,, wow
The way Keith Moon played the drums reflected the way he lived and that's saying a whole lot in his case. Incredibly entertaining, exciting and recognizable. Especially in rock music that's what probably counts more than all the technique in the world, although he certainly wasn't a slouch in that department either. I think there wasn't a band he fitted in more perfectly than The Who, but that goes for each member of that band.
Hi Andzwe, Roger says, in the documentary "Amazing Journey", that when Keith showed up the band had to work a hundred times "harder". Not faster, not louder, but a whole lot harder. Roger explains this much better in the film. https://youtu.be/LPNNz_kJkKs This is a link to the Who documentary "Amazing Journey", No spam or tricks or misleading, just the story of arguably the greatest band to ever walk the Earth.
Thanks for the link, Stevie, much appreciated.
Keith Moon is the greatest drummer of all time in my humble opinion....
the guy was a madman
That's the opposite of a humble opinion
For fuck's sake, Yes!
@Unapproved Truth Neal Pert worships Keith Moon. And they are both spectacular drummers. No need to figure out which one is better...just enjoy listening to them both. BTW, I had the pleasure of meeting Geddy Lee in Boston last August. He's very humble, but a great guy!
I'd say he's the best rock drummer. The best drummer of all time is Louie Bellson, as far as I'm concerned.
you feel me coming .....a new sensation......from afar you will see me......Im a SENSATION
Paul Pennestri "a new VIBRATION..."
Monnie was a great lead drummer.
I was at The Fillmore East the night the album was released.
a life memory of great depth and compleixty.
blessed be, right ?
We might have been at the same performance. A fire broke out next door to the Fillmore but we all thought it was part of the act.
BEAUTIFUL!! I was 12 years old and in a "head shop" in Haight Ashbury when a man ran in with "TOMMY". The man behind the counter instantly put it on the turntable and started playing it. The store became more and more filled up with people dancing and swaying. We listened to the whole album, all four sides (that is vinyl) and I had one of the most unforgettable times of my life!!! I guess that makes me about 60+ years old. Yea really!
And that- boys and girls- is how a wonderful drummer adds color and personality to a song...
NO single drop of rain can take credit for the storm.
nonpareil
@SaxyDan54 I know, right ? it's that crazy cross-striking of two crashes to form a "hi hat". Freaking brilliant. Hey.. it's what he needed!
@Silas Marner You, and others, obviously don't know much about Keith Moon.
He was the man!
When's this book you've been researching coming out Pete
Tom Simons 2012
FAVE WHO SONG!
One of my top Tommy tunes, with 1921 and Come To The Mirror Boy.
I love the Beatle effect with the seagulls. (which isn't included in this clip. Way to go .)
Moons work on this still kills me!
keith moon absolutely kills it on this one. if you're not air drumming to this tune you aint got a pulse
If you can try to imitate his drumming, that is
Perry Wall Hahahaha , I am definitely air drumming as I am reading ur comment.
hahahahahaha caught me.....
Keith Moon at his fucking best on this song....long live Mooney!
What bothers me here is that there is no mix... everything is separated... listen to the original vinyl to see what I mean... I just find it off-putting.
Anita Miller: Listen to Tommy with a candle burning, and you'll see your entire future.
"Sickness will surely take the mind / where minds don't usually go / come on the amazing journey / and learn all you should know!"
beutiful film beutiful songs
you can't beat the moon machine gun drumming
Il faut le reconnaître; peu de musiciens ont égalé ce chef d'oeuvre.
Ils avaient 3 musiciens d'exception.
poor keith....never to be replaced. feel bad for kenny jones.
+david johanson Why him and not Zak Starkey???
Kenny was okay for Face Daces and Its Hard----but couldn't quite fill shoes on older Who stuff!!
Even the little nuances in this song are very impressive indeed, e.g the guitarwork (slide sound) at 3.00 and again just after. Masterfully crafted by Pete :)
Pete's feedback was crafty and original
