Whitley, Keith - Somewhere Between Lyrics
Somewhere between your heart and mine
There's a window that I can't see through
There's a wall so high it reaches the sky
Somewhere between me and you.
And sometimes I believe you love me
But somewhere between your heart and mine
There's a door without any key.
Somewhere between your heart and mine
There's a window that I can't see through
There's a wall so high it reaches the sky
Somewhere between me and you.
Somewhere between your heart and mine
It's there for a while then it fades like a smile
And I'm left in the middle again.
Somewhere between your heart and mine
There's a window that I can't see through
There's a wall so high it reaches the sky
Somewhere between me and you.
Somewhere between me and you...

We lost Keith Whitley to soon to alcohol addiction at the age 34 years old when he passed away he was such a very talented person just lost him to soon he was such a very talented person and Keith Whitley will always be number one into COUNTRY music needs to be inducted into the COUNTRY music Hall
Keith puts his heart in this song, beautiful rendition
Keith Whitley recorded this song in the early summer of 1981 and released as a single, but never charted. Had this been on a major country label, would have made the Billboard top 20. Should have been a #1. Sad that Keith died from alcoholism on 5-9-1989.
I realy
Missed this song
Thank you for posting..
My favorate song..
Thanks for stoppin' by. :)

Keith also recorded this on an album when he was with with JD Crow and the New South.

If Keith would have lived he would no doubt be one of the greatest country singer ever! He was just really hitting success with Don't close your eyes going number one.
To me he is the best.

Such a great guy...love his music . Sings from his heart and soul..😊🎶🎸🌹
Thanks for stoppin' by Peggy. :)

Yeah, did that long time ago.@Todd Henriksen
Keith Whitley could have been a country music superstar by the early 1980's if he were on a major record label. He would still be making hits today with over 40 career #1 Billboard country hits if he were still alive. This song from 1982 could have been a huge hit for Keith, but a minor one for Suzy Bogguss in 1988.

Mighty Merle Haggard wrote and sang this great song ,, I love Keith , but he’s no Merle Haggard
Thanks for stoppin' by. :)
Mikey Thompson
I like Haggard but for the record he ain't Keith Whitley.
Todd Henriksen - really , Merle songwriting /singing , the best - total package , i love Keith , it’s so sad
@Todd HenriksenKeith will never be bested,IMO.
PRETTY,,,,,but Why do I feel THIS sadness in HIS VOICE
I think it was just his natural tone of voice. Thanks for stoppin' by. :)
Mikey Thompson
Well I'm not a expert but seems to me connected with the songs meaning that this man wants to the both of them to be happy but just can't see how. and that just demonstrates his even more.
I love this, he has a beautiful voice.
Thanks for stoppin' by Mary. :)

The only other version I’ve heard was sung by Daniel O’Donnell and Mary Duff.
The original version was recorded by Merle Haggard in 1967 and was a cut on his "Branded Man" album. He also wrote it. Thanks for stoppin' by. :) Mikey Thompson
The night I heard on the radio that Keith had died I had to pull my car over because I was crying like a baby. We lost a unbelievable talent that May night. His voice always brings tears to my eyes, especially the duet When a Tear Becomes a Rose with Lori. You passed way too young my friend.
He sounds like me when I sing
Peter Kolovos I remember that like it was yesterday and I cried for days and still do at times . I love this mans music and voice. Country music should Be Ashamed for Not giving him The Recognition he Deserves
You do know, that Keith and Lori never recorded till a tear becomes a rose. It was done after he passed.
Lori did a amazing job , and all those who helped create the duet
@Tammy Williamson That indeed was an amazing duet, as was Keith's actual collaboration with Earl Thomas Conley on "Brotherly Love", which hit #1 for the two of them in November of 1991. It's a shame that Keith was not around to see Lorrie Morgan finally breakthrough on country radio.
@Belinda V I was so shocked when I heard the news of Keith Whitley's death on the night of May 9,1989, I almost ditched school the next day. All I could think about was what could have been for him. Keith Whitley was finally making a name for himself after nearly a whole decade of struggling for National recognition. Keith Whitley will get into the Country Music Hall of Fame for sure. Hopefully by next year.
DET ÄR SÅÅ FINT

Keith Whitley is the greatest country music singer of all time no one can sing like he’ll today’s country music sucks I’m sorry but it sucks some of it is OK but if I want to listen the country I would listen to Keith Whitley because he speaks the truth I how it really feels when you’re on the road every day and the pressure is getting to you he speaks the truth I’m not a country music singer myself but I think if I was that’s probably how I would be there’s quite a bit of pressure going on the road a lot inch being stressed out that’s probably why he started drinking a lot and he had his personal problems which is another reason what the cost is drinking and then he died of alcohol poisoning which Took him from this world in 1989 he died 11 years before I was listening to the music now you can hear the truth in his voice newer generations will probably never really understand what real country music is like and when Keith Whitley died country music died with it even though Laurie still singing and she still and there are some good modern country songs out there real country will never be the same without Keith Whitley
TJ Ever hear of punctuation? They teach it in school.
Tj Nickles true very true we lost Keith Whitley to soon to alcohol addiction at the age of 34 years old when he passed away he was such a very talented person just lost him to soon
@alan4sure, ever heard of keeping your mouth shut? If I'm not mistaken they teach that in school too, especially the school for Dummies which you Desperately need!
@Tina Monroy I'll speak when I want. Mind your own business. You should learn that somewhere if it's not too late.
@alan4sure, nope it's not going to happen when you're being rude.
Feel peaceful heart, mind and soul
Best ever song,, Thanks ♥️😘🙏

Absolutely have to find this Cd. it ia a must have!!
Try CD Universe... Thanks for stoppin' by Carol. :) Mikey Thompson
Did not know that Keith recorded this,Super, his beauty is always soooooo real,no one ever better.
carol vine I know this is originally a Merle Haggard Song, but this is my favorite song Keith has ever sung. I know he has so many great songs of his own but his version of this song just touches me so deeply.
If hadn't died at such a young age while hitting his prime, he'd be known as the GOAT. Has a way better overall voice and more soul than George Strait, and I'm a huge George fan, but he's no Keith. People who know all about Keith know this without a doubt.
So genuine, warm, heartfelt
Thanks for stoppin' by John. :) Mikey Thompson
Keith, is such a wonderful singer, magnificent voice... miss you my friend.
Thanks for stoppin' by. :) Mikey Thompson
Keith Whitley was the best and I miss him too. Keith Whitley released this classic in May of 1981, but only peaked at #90 on the Cashbox Country charts. should have gone #1 on Billboard and Radio & Records by Summer of 81.
you can just tell which artists have experienced real pain. all they gotta do is sing and it sets you back in your seat.
Thanks for stoppin' by. :) Mikey Thompson
Merle Haggard wrote and recorded this song. Keith Whitley just performed it better in my opinion.
I Absolutely LOVE this song....My ALL TIME fav song
A great rendition of a old Merle Haggard tune.... Thanks for stoppin' by Jason. :) Mikey Thompson
Beautiful voice love this song
Thanks for stoppin' by Sylvia. :) Mikey Thompson
He sings this so pretty...It is a shame what happened to him..So young!!
Thanks for stoppin' by Ruth. :) Mikey Thompson
Nobody will ever be better than him!! Was my fav, passed on my birthday, I cried for days
Indeed he does do a great rendition on this old Merle Haggard tune.... Thanks for stoppin' by Carol. :) Mikey Thompson
I agree with you. If you have a chance check out Darryl Singletary. this man was the only one who even came close to Keith Whitley soulful rich vocals. sadly we've lost both.
Good song
Yes indeed it is... A fine example of how great a songwriter the late Merle Haggard really was and a great rendition by Keith Whitley. Thanks for stoppin' by. :) Mikey Thompson
if someone ever puts up a dislike take away their youtube rights, tomorrow is 28 years, lot of people wonder where he would be if still alive,I know where, right on top
Thanks for stoppin'by again Lloyd. :) Mikey Thompson
It was Keith who really captured my heart to country music. Have gone on now to love more of the old country: George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty -- but it was Keith and the emotion he puts into each song that made me sit up and pay attention.
Thanks for stoppin' by again Karen. :) Mikey Thompson

Keith was a good'un. That should be sufficient. Opinions are subjective. Comparisons are odious.
Thanks for stoppin' by. :) Mikey Thompson
Thank you LLoyd Sherman,,He was the man
Thanks for stoppin' by Roy. :) Mikey Thompson
Keith is the best next to George Jones
Yes Keith is the best ever what a waist
love this song
Thanks for stoppin' by Cathy. :) Mikey Thompson
i love his Bluegrass also.
Thanks for stoppin' by Tim. :) Mikey Thompson
Keith would have reached heights even Hank and Merle never visited.I like Strait and Brooks but please don't put them in the same arena as Keith.Simply the best singer of his generation. The most talent with the best training, thanks Keith
Fair statement Lloyd.
I agree that Keith was among the greatest country music singers that ever lived, but what about George Jones, Randy Travis, Lefty, and Vern.
If hadn't died at such a young age while hitting his prime, he'd be known as the GOAT. Has a way better overall voice and more soul than George Strait, and I'm a huge George fan, but he's no Keith. People who know all about Keith know this without a doubt.
nemesisgenius Keith was George Jones, Merle, Lefty, and Randy all rolled into one. His voice was incredibly versatile.
Alan Hagan - Merle is the GOAT , total package , singing / songwriting
Great song
Thanks for stoppin' by Roosevelt. :) Mikey Thompson
I don't know how many folks appreciate what goes into that steel guitar....I'm ok now with that key change...LOL....good fiddle, too !
Thanks for stoppin' by. :) Mikey Thompson
Love this song
Thanks for stoppin' by Danny. :) Mikey Thompson
This is my all-time favorite version of this song! Nobody sings this like Keith!
Thanks foe stoppin' by Jeremy. :) Mikey Thompson
I agree. you can really feel his pain so much more than any other version Ive heard. I think Suzy bogus recorded it first and I could hear some pain but Keith's version is my go to version when I want to hear this song. if daryl singletary sung it I think his would be good too. Daryl singletarys covers of a lot of songs are better than the originals to me sometimes.
Jeremy Nalley except Merle Haggard
Steven Watts excuse me but Merle Haggard did before them
Bought the album. Love this song. I so wish he were still with us. But am glad at least that we have what we have.
Great rendition by a great singer...written by another great one ...the late Merle Haggard. Thanks for stoppin' by Karen. Mikey Thompson
