Whitley, Keith - I Get The Picture Lyrics
The moving van is waitin' for the rain to stop
Your agent put a sign up in the yard
I wondered was there anything that you'd forgot
I guess that goodbye's got to be this hard.
I knew I couldn't stay here by myself
I saw a box and wondered why you'd left it out
Right there on the bedroom closet shelf.
Faded yellow photos of a boy and girl
Smiling in the blazing Texas sun
It must have been the year before your daddy died
He tried to warn me then this day would come.
I get the picture though the love has gone away
Wasn't that the guy you told me you forgot
Oh what's his name who never made you laugh
But I never made you smile the way you're smilin' here
By his side in this faded photograph.
Last night when I met you at your lawyer's house
I wondered bout the guy who dropped you off
Guess I prob'ly never place this smiling face
If you hadn't left behind this box.
I get the picture though the love has gone away
I get the picture though your memory will fade I get the picture.
I get the picture...

carol vine same here
I remember the day WSAZ reported Keith had died. I was jus a young child but his music was such a huge part of my family's daily lives it felt like I lost a family member. He's still a huge part of my family's lives, they loved Keith during his bluegrass days & followed him over to country music. He's still a legend & dearly loved here back home in EKy, I'll always love his music, always play it & as long as I'm around, he'll be remembered.
Love,
The Isaacs

Perfect example of why I love country music. The realness and the picture it paints in your mind.
This man had an incredible gift! A true talent in every sense!
Such an awesome singer, lost in his prime.
What a singer!
Ya know, I say this all the time to friends and family when we're out singing his music at karaoke..
If he was still with us,
he would be right up there with George Strait and Alan.
@Ziggy 54 he is above both of them in my book I've had a ear for music since I was a kid if he had lived longer the rest of the people would know he's number one
@Ziggy 54 where are you from
@Paul Rogers
Hi Paul,
I'm from South Carolina.
Little town close to Augusta, Ga called
Graniteville.
Ziggy was a nickname I picked up in the Army on one of my assignments overseas in the middle of no where .
How about you?
@Ziggy 54 we've been trying to get Keith Whitley in the hall of fame and there's a petition for you to sign and the petition is on friends of Keith Whitley I'm from Eastern Kentucky not fare from his home town I met him and got to see him in concert He was a good guy and his family are good people his mom never met a stranger
totalay agree
I'm proud to say I'm from the same town as Keith. I know his family members well.
we are great fans of Keith starting from his Bluegrass days. We visited Sandy Hook last October, looking for anything reminding of Keith. We only found the nice statue, not the bar nor the street sign unfortunately. Also did not know anybody from their to help us. We asked a very nice young lady about the street sign and she was surprised that Keith was so famous that a family from Austria came over to visit Sandy Hook. We also visited Randy Hayes and his wife Kay, such nice, welcoming and very down to earth people! I played with my Bluegrass band on a show opening for Keith, 3 weeks before he died. We sat and talked a while and he signed all of my records with him on it, country and Bluegrass. Amazing singer, amazing voice and you could see and feel every word he sang, unlike many other singers who just sing the lyrics, whatever they are.....
To the Whitley family thank you for bringing all us Keith fans the kind of country music that hits the spot in are Heart to remind that where so kind loving an not perfect, I would put on my dads record or black vinyl album he had when I was 5 an 6 on my grandparents pioneer and listen to that album I think it was Don't Close Your Eyes but I would flip that record and just sit there and listen to Keith Whitley and boy felt like heaven singing so once again thank you God bless we keep Keith Whitley in our hearts of our hearts and minds Avant of the pioneers of new country music love you brother.
I totally agree wholeheartedly
7 dislikes, guess there's 7 beiber fsns who can't stand real talent!
A great talent and a wonderful guy. Does a superb job on everything he does.
lora Schultz that came from his days as a young man working with Ralph Stanley.
lora Schultz true very true we lost Keith Whitley to soon
he starts one line with a smooth note and just ends up with really low tone. you will never get to have jones and lefty sing in a one person again!
+THE JOINT MINDS LIMITED you so Right!!
I love the song don't close you
no one can sing this song like he could.
amen! I agree
True very true we lost keith Whitley to soon
He was an amazing singer and song writer. His music is what country music was made of.. Not today's music scene..
Forever I'll have Keith Whitley in my soul.
I love his music
I must second Bernadette Derry's comment. I also wish someone would find some more songs -- perhaps demos -- and make another Album. It was Keith Whitley who first brought me to like country -- and still today that love of country hasn't gone away (although I do not consider the current pop-country to be in the same category). Amazingly I have only rediscovered him, and have since bought almost all of his albums.
KarenKayAuthor WKB I feel like someone is keeping us away from whatever songs he has. His legacy deserves better.
That's interesting. Never thought about that. There are his blue grass days and many songs there. But it's the country songs I like best.
Can anyone tell me where to download this song? It is not listed on iTunes, Thx!
It's on his first full length album "L.A. To Miami." Idk if/where it's available online, I bought it on cd-not the easiest record to find-I got mine off eBay.
U can check antique stores for CD's n LP's. I find some great music that way.
He needs to be put in the hall of fame. He was, and still is, a true country talent....old school, but with new school charm. One of my top fav artists of all time. Great talent.
The greatest vocalist to ever sing onto a mic. And any country music artist would agree. I'd sale my soul to the devil to have his voice.
wish someone would find more his songs and make another Album/CD
He died too soon maybe there is more songs
all original voice. I know by the notes his "adams apple" sings!
sounds great!!!! only one keith whitley, right?
