Whitesnake - You're Gonna Break My Heart Again Lyrics

Now I know
I've seen that look
On your face before
When you realised
All the memories
Walked right out the door...

Now it's eye for an eye
A tooth for a tooth
No more hiding behind the truth
I'm gonna get exactly
What's coming to me

You're gonna break my heart again,
You never let me forget it
You're gonna break my heart again
But, you're gonna live to regret it

Now you say
I took advantage of you
When you never knew the score
But, you should know
We've been this way
One thousand times before

You told me once,
You told me twice
It's down to me, girl
To pay the price
But, this time's the last time
That's for sure...

You're gonna break my heart again,
You never let me forget it
You're gonna break my heart again
But, you're gonna live to regret it
Yes you are

You talk of how our love
Was meant to be
And all the time
You sacrificed for me...

So how could I forget it,
Why should I regret it
'Cos when you told me you loved me
I knew it was lies
So no more crying, no more goodbyes,
'Cos this time's the last time
That's for sure...break my heart...

Now you say
There is no one in the world
Can get the better of you
An' you should know
'Cos you never made it easy
With the pain you put me thru

I told you once
I told you twice
It's down to you, girl
To pay the price
'Cos this time's the last time
That's for sure...

You're gonna break my heart again,
You never let me forget it
You're gonna break my heart again
But, you're gonna live to regret it

I just can't take anymore,
No more, no more, no more...

  1. Lythrian Onthbteam

Saw these guys when they headlined Monsters of Rock in the UK... At that time they had Steve Vai playing, just OMG, what a great concert!!! One my top ten five bands... 2020 anyone? :)

  2. Fuzz Fadel

    Sykes. The Master.

  3. painkiller619 undertaker

No ones talking about the drummer

    Nicholas Totoro

Everyone seems to forget Aynsley Dunbar played on that album, which is kind of a shame.

  4. Alfredo Cristovam de Souza

    disco clássico do Whitesnake. !

  5. Oscar Saines

Coverdale got Tigers of Tang Pan in his material. Sykes Rules and kicked ass on Thin Lizzy last album. 🤘

  6. Cal Wise

The ultimate melodic rock album ever. Coverdale is god.

  7. Andre F. S.

Guitar perfection! The crunch and underlying groove, the combination of open power chords with fast muted chords, the face-melting power chord vibrato, and the epic, perfect guitar-hero solos with ultra fast passages balanced with melodic, soulful passages, and finally the unmistakable wide vibrato. That's John Sykes in a nutshell. Awesome player. Also great singer. The combination of his backing vocals with David's vocals works pretty well.

  8. Ariel Rivera Paez

La mejor de los wathe snake

  9. Chris Mike

John Sykes! Needless to say more...

    metalheadoldschol

    Maybe yes maybe no.
Dont confuse the release of Album and composing of a song ..

  17. Manuel Adrian Montiel Acosta

John Sykes is absolutly crazy guitar player..... The Soul of Whitesnake guitar of all times......

    metalheadoldschol

WS was a great band way before Sykes

    SlippingintoFiction

    @metalheadoldschol Wrong......
Whitesnake didn't do shit before John Sykes joined the band. The European recording of "Slide it in" only had moderate sales but when they remixed it for a U.S version with Sykes on guitar the album sales took off and reached 4 million. The 1987 album sold over 20 million copies. Then Sykes was gone and Slip of the Tongue with Steve Vai did not even sell 2 million copies. John Sykes was Whitesnake. When Sykes plays guitar and sings the Whitesnake songs they sound better than Coverdale singing them.

    metalheadoldschol

@SlippingintoFiction Whitesnake , As Priest and Scorpions were big in Europe and japan , forget it man..

Its just your politic market is shit and bands have often to caliber their music and make more polish or commercial whatever to break it there .

    Go figure .

There s not 1 record , there re 8 records before sykes .
And Sykes didnt wrote thoses riffs and melodies .
He didnt wrote Slow and easy , he didnt wrote Crying in the rain , he didnt wrote Here i go again .

In europe that was kind of hit then.

It was Mel galley ( of the great trapeze , RIP) , and Bernie Madsen and micky Moody with Coverdale .

John was with Tigers of Pan tang at the time .
    ( Great NWOBHM band , yes )

And the thing that it wasnt exposed in US don't mean it sucks.

Its even more interesting . The groove , the not Over production , the texture , and musical dynamics .
You had , if you except blues influence , a Big soul sensibility and funk swing in it .

And even quite a bit jazz /fusion acrobatics here and there .
    Try nighthawk ..

If many of you Knew the real , Rasp and raw Howlin wolf style of David for exemple , from Deep purple ( and pig screaming live ) , and that , you would not complain about Vocal distortion technique and agression ( which is anyway a key sign of that music , are you HR or HM or A.O.R poser that take just the train in 87 ? ) he updated naturally with experience and age since he reformed the band ( and even since 1993 in fact in that more screechy or growly way ) , talking about beign shot because " OMG , its not as polish than 1987 , "...

    He always sang like this...

2 things = 1 , 1987 was after his operation , so more polish ( but it back to normal after few years ) , and 2 he was hitting notes too often out of his register .
    Especially.on Slip .

But most US fans annoys me .
At the time okay , but after 30 years you say you like the band , even " favorite band " and you son't search the history or know others records before than just the commercial Hits as 87 , the US version of Slide , and Slip .

    Waow .

    Even with Internet .
You stay on 3 albums .

    Thats wonderfull

And , ive already seen that silly argument typically americanish that you think Sells justify an artistic value .
Seeing just your country obviously .

Not necessary and in your country , when i see some bands , its far to be true .

    I don't give a shit .
    I listen the music .
    Point .

Matter of fact , John can't belting like coverdale does .

Tenors singing Coverdale sounds like shit too often .

Its too light , and don't have that gravel and bottom texture and lowers harmonics , and even masculanity.

And as tenor he has a naturally high voice .

Coverdale on the other hand is a Deep Baritone , and Its even not normal he hit thoses notes in full out range .
He is doing higher than the regular .

So not even in his or your dreams Sykes sounds better than David .
Especially David is a decade older than him.

    SlippingintoFiction

    @metalheadoldschol
You must be deaf and dumb.

Whitesnake was great way before John sykes

And not only david is grear but the groove and songwriting is great .
    And more open .

    Try nightawk ...

    metalheadoldschol

@SlippingintoFiction Quality material have nothing to do with your typical american stuff .

Your politic market is bullshit .
Tons of great bands here didnt make it to you before making more polished and commercial stuff .

John Sykes.... Legend. Vai? Vandenberg? Step aside Sykes is coming through.

    IrishGuitarist1

Imo, slip of the tongue was their greatest album, this comes in at number 2.
I love them both, I heard 1987 first when I was very young and loved it, Sykes playing is so raw and huge.

Slip of the tongue was a game changer, the mystery surrounding vai at the time was awesome and hearing this wacky playing in places opened eyes and ears.
pity that lineup didnt carry on a little longer.

    gary childers

    @IrishGuitarist1 Your high !

    IrishGuitarist1

    @gary childers eh....I'm not.

    SlippingintoFiction

@IrishGuitarist1 You must be deaf and/or dumb. The Whitesnake 1987 album fucking destroys the Slip of the Tongue album. Sykes guitar playing obliterated Vai's. Whitesnake was dead the minute Sykes was gone. The European recording of "Slide it in" only had moderate sales but when they remixed it for a U.S version with Sykes on guitar the album sales took off and reached 4 million. The 1987 album sold over 20 million copies. Slip of the Tongue with Steve Vai did not even sell 2 million copies. John Sykes was Whitesnake. When Sykes plays live and sings the Whitesnake songs they sound better than Coverdale singing them.

    Crimson Idol

Sykes wrote 90% of the songs!

    Uncle Joe

The music has always been Coverdale. Listen to any of the musician with WS, and tell me if they ever sounded as good - before or after WS.

    metal warrior

its you to shut up, you ain't talking to any singing kid but to a real legend!! Not to mention that the vocal melodies in this song are just awesome!!

    Ken Johnson

@Crimson Idol Wrong. He definitely wrote a great deal of the music, but to say 90% is ridiculous. You really think Coverdale would allow that?
