Not quite. It`was actually the opposite. According to the history, Slade released their "til deaf do us part" album (with "Rock`n roll preacher") in april 1982. - Whitesnake released the "Ready & willing" album (with "Sweet talker") in may 1980. - And I agree, there is some close similarities in the verses! (Btw, I love both bands) ;)

my fave Whitesnake track of all time... back when they still had a blues-swagger.

To me this is far better than Purple - I never saw the greatness of In Rock, Machine Head etc.
