Weller, Paul - Uh Huh Oh Yeh Lyrics

I took a trip down Boundary Lane, try an' find myself again
At least a part I left somewhere, buried under a hedgerow near
A lazy bridge on a hot afternoon, water glistens while it plays a tune
Cloudburst on a rainy day, wiping all my sleep away

Uh huh oh yeh! Uh huh oh yeh! Always there to confuse and fool ya!
Uh huh oh yeh! Uh huh oh yeh! Always there to confuse and fool ya!

And in my mind I saw the place, as each memory returned to trace
Dear reminders of who I am, the very roots upon which I stand
And there they were for all to see, my long-lost used to be's
And all the dreams I had to dream, were really something, not make-believe

Uh huh oh yeh! Uh huh oh yeh! Always there to confuse and fool ya!
Uh huh oh yeh! Uh huh oh yeh! Always there to confuse and fool ya!

A lazy tree by a wishing well, I wish now that I could tell
If all the dreams I used to dream, are really something or make-believe

Uh huh oh yeh! Uh huh oh yeh! Always there to confuse and fool ya!
Uh huh oh yeh! Uh huh oh yeh! Always there to confuse and fool ya!

When there's a gap between who you were and who you are now. Trying to get back to what you were and feel that 'connect'. I've tried it, there's a gap there. But the 'very roots upon which I stand' are still there forever. '79 Mods.

Remember in early 90's long glossy Poster in Woolworths of Paul in white shirt just looking so cool as f**k ! bought it and still playing it every day. Timeless and sound track to my summers in my 20's, 30's and the rest. Steve White drumming on this 10/10.

    m.... ....

I recall that poster and thinking exactly the same! along with everything you say brother 👍

  22. P.... ....

I remember buying this album on the pony canyon label in '92. Unbelievably , no UK label would offer him a deal.

Listening back to it again I can't believe how 'jazzy' this album is and out of all his solo stuff I think this just edges wildwood.

I love the fact that even now he's still experimenting with a different sound on Saturn's return.

Paul Weller- a man who marches to the beat of his own drum. Long may it continue

  23. D.... L....

This tune kickstarted my 90s of great music KTF

    D.... L....

Nonsense. However it IS a great tune!

  24. S.... W....

So much of his early solo stuff is timeless, horns, guitars, sax, just funky mod brilliance.

  25. S.... P....

    52K views. Criminal.

  26. P.... ....

remember the critics were still desperate to slate him when this came out , it was a fabulous album , but they still just couldn't bring themselves to give it a good review. Forced to eat their words when he made Wildwood. Ha Ha!

  27. L.... k....

0:43 reminds me of early Beck (as Odelay ..)

  28. z.... ....

Dug it in the alt-rock days, been a longgg time...

  29. H.... F....

Working in Our Price Margate when this came out, the album stiffed, as I recall, which is a crime. Mucho underated opus by The Modfather

  30. b.... h....

    Hendrixian, Dig it.

Well, technically, or rather physiologically, that's impossible now isn't it.
Aesthetically, we do value our peacocks. And we keep propagating them ;)

  34. M.... ....

Great song and I know all the location shots in Woking and by the canal....bit weird seeing them on YT! :)

  35. G.... ....

Sounds more like Are Friends Electric than Cars to me.

  36. m.... h....

Feck, I can't even remember making that comment...err... Cars by Gary Numan?

  37. I.... H....

I eventually found this location on google earth..looks like it hasnt changed much in 22 years...love this tune!

  38. m.... h....

God Weller nicked a lot of basslines didn't he

  39. J.... 8....

5 minutes from my house! Weller you are the man!

  40. H.... N....

What do you mean long lost? Is this part of England gone now and if so, what has it been replaced by?

  41. l.... ....

    @Thechalfonts what a comment ace!

  42. M.... G....

Unreal, he was only 31 or 32 when he wrote this. Already been through The Jam, Style Council and onto solo.

  43. A.... A....

    Love, love, love it! :)

  44. s.... ....

...and wit too - i just remembered - the cd had a pause in the middle, with the sound of someone turning over a record, and the pop and crackle of the stylus dropping back onto the vinyl...

  45. s.... ....

...first heard this album while on E at a friends house - it blew us all away - the album had a blue soul feel, and in the recession hit uk under major in 92 it fitted perectly for us - this said more to my circle than any grunge trax of the time, or the ubiquitous techno stuff of that pre- britpop era...

    style, feel, and substance...

  46. k.... ....

this is around the time he found his mojo again

  47. b.... ....

Oh, my dear Paul Weller and his beautiful black soul!

  48. C.... ....

    sexy bitch

  49. P.... B....

this song always makes me think of my grandma from ripley, something about the lyrics.

  50. o.... ....

this was the start of the second coming for paul, although this song was very overlooked at the time which is difficult to believe really. taken from one of the best albums of all time and before the cool brittania band wagon had begun which just sums it up really.weller forevever.hcafc.

  51. M.... F....

When this album and song hit, I thought to myself, "Welcome back, Modfather....Welcome back!"

  52. D.... B....

I remember waiting for Weller to bust out of his funk and he finally did with this song. good times!
