Weird Al Yankovic - Polkas On 45 Lyrics
They tell us that we lost our tails
Evolving up from little snails
I say it's all just wind and sails
Are we not men, we are Devo
Are we not men, D-E-V-O
Smoke on the water
A fire in the sky
Smoke on the water
(I'm a man) I'm a boy
(I'm a man) Well, I'm your mother
(I'm a man) I'm a one night stand
(I'm a man) Am I bi
(I'm a man) I'm your slave
(I'm a man) I'm a little girl when we make love together
Hey, hey, hey
Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it
Better, better, better, better, better, better, yeah
L.A. woman
You're my woman
Got my mojo risin'
Mr. Mojo Risin'
Hey
In-a-gadda-da-vida, honey
Don't you know that I love you?
In-a-gadda-da-vida, baby
Don't you know that I'll always be true?
Hey, Joe, where you goin' with that gun in your hand?
Hey, Joe, where you goin' with that gun in your hand?
Gonna shoot my old lady
Caught her messin' 'round with another man
Yodel-ay-ee, yodel-ay-he-hoo, yodel-ay-ee, yodel-ay-he-hoo
Yodel-ay-ee, yodel-ay-he-hoo, yodel-ay he-hoo
Yodel-ay-ee, yodel-ay-he-hoo, yodel-ay-ee, yodel-ay-he-hoo
Yodel-ay-ee, yodel-ay-he-hoo, yodel-ay he-hoo
I'm an ordinary guy burnin' down the house
I'm hot blooded, check it and see
Got a fever of a hundred and three
Come on, baby, do you do more than dance?
I'm hot blooded, hot blooded
Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break, every step you take
I'll be watchin' you
Darling, you gotta let me know
Should I stay or should I go?
If you say that you are mine
I'll be here till the end of time
But you gotta let me know, whoa, whoa, whoa
Should I stay or should I go?
But it's all right now, in fact, it's a gas
But it's all right, Jumpin' Jack Flash, it's a gas, gas, gas
People try to put us down (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
Just because we get around (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
Singly do look awful c-c-cold (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
Hope I die before I get old (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
This is my generation (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
This is my generation, baby (Talkin' 'bout my generation)
(Talkin' 'bout my generation)
My, my, my, my, my, my generation (My generation)
Well, I'm talkin' 'bout my g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-g-generation
Hey

Weird Al Yankovic Polkas On 45 Comments
I'm so glad I grew up with this and not that stupid Rap garbage.
:D Up! Tinja&Markku
Only the genius of Weird Al could fuse hit songs into a polka format and make it work. He's a one man Spike Jones band. Gotta love him.
This was my first album by AL.
Weird Al's greatest parody polka medley ever. Total perfection.
The beginning of this song sounds very much like Frankie Yankovic's "Beer Barrel Polka." I assume Weird Al consciously borrowed it.
When accordion talks.
i'm kinda surprised that i actually knew one of these songs (every breath you take) despite not even being alive in the 20th century
then again, i'm pretty sure everyone knows that song
"...eeveryver blonde you break" How was that for a prediction.
best of the 60's
I didn't even know about "Jocko Homo" until this.
I'm a MAN!
I was a HUGE Devo fan at the time and when I heard Jocko Homo I flipped the fuck out.
2:57 Two important songs from Stranger Things back to back. How funny.
Attack the Language = Recieve Personal incredulity + Malicious appeal to emotion (Torture + Truth) = Death+Victory or UltimateVictorySupreme + Pleasure Center (Amygdala + Affinity) " Wherever 3 or more are with me together 😍🧟♂️👼🤱🧚♀️🎅🤶
Also, starting at 2:16, after "Hey Joe," I think Al is doing "She Taught (How) to Yodel." My dad used to listen to that single when I was growing up. You can see one version of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpwcPmivcLw
"Every Breath You Take" and "Should I stay or Should I go" Right next to eachother? Weird Al Predicted Stranger Things
i don't know if it's just the songs or if he just got better at doing these, but i'm not into this one
Anyone else want a full polka cover of Every Move You Make?
Cano Lathra *”Every Breath you Take.”
devo is epic
Weird Al is KING
2:58 - 3:12 is honestly the funniest thing I've heard all week
WEIRD AL...WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVE SINGER EVER
After hearing this here I now realize the Hey Jude / La Woman transition has been stuck in my head since the 80's.
V H S mine is the "hey joe" part. Forever when I think of hey joe, it's the polka version. That's why I looked this up today.
does anyone know if weird al made a polka with Dont stop me now in it?
I really don't understand that episode of The Goldbergs with Weird Al. If you've grown tired of Weird Al, you've grown tired of life.
I love this guy lol his polkas, fake interviews, his appearance at the purple rain movie premier, and his short Rambo movie xD
UHF was awesome!
Now that I've heard Weird Al doing classic rock polka, I can sleep more easily at night.
Classic Rock Kid
This is actually Al doing contemporary rock. Technically.
I love this sometimes.
"sometimes", LOL
I only find out about most songs because I hear Weird Al's parody or cover first. Original is never better,
Thank you, though, for putting the songs in the description
It's cool... The only thing is that it is a Medley, not a parody 😋
it is still a parody, in that it takes popular songs and transforms them into a juxtaposed style to humorous effect.
AP English vocab for the win.
A man can't do one thing the entire time.
He likely would get bored of it after awhile.
Bogart Urie Winchester It's a parody of Stars on 45's style of music.
I hope when my kids hear music on the radio they will say "hey this song was stolen from weird al!"
I am that kid. My father has done well.
oooooooooooooooooooooooh!
gotta say I got most of the references.
I was lucky, I am about a decade younger than Al, so I get all his references!
I hate polka music but I love this music its so funny! 😃
best playlist ever
Thank you!!!
More Devo than Devo for a brief, shining moment.
+Robert Furtkamp It was Devolution!
I love Mark Mothersbaugh's reaction to Al's Devoesque "Dare to Be Stupid": "I was in shock. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. He sort of re-sculpted that song into something else and... I hate him for it, basically."
That's funny, hadn't heard that one before!
I'm not ashamed that my exposure to 75% of the songs in this, I got from this song. To this day, i still think Smoke on the Water sounds weird.
I have the same problem with "Beat It" because I've heard "Eat It" so many times
Agreed. Same here.
Jeremy Tate I am the same exact way. I had a record player back in 1988 and my mother had given me this record. I learned every word and she used to make me song the songs to her drunk friends. they would laugh and laugh
Also of note is the Beer Barrel Polka at the start, the Clarinet Polka at 0:42 and Bubbles in the Wine (aka Lawrence Welk's theme) at 2:49
This song (and DTBS) are the reasons I know who Devo is and I've never quite been the same.
Mark Mothersbaugh, the lead singer of Devo has stated, a little cheekily, that he hates Weird Al for DTBS because Al achieved the sound that Devo was trying for with the song Whip It.
I was about six when I first heard this. The funny thing is, I'd never heard the original versions of any of the songs parodied at that point (or at least I didn't remember). Back in the days before Internet and having not the most diverse radio stations, it took me decades to hear all of the originals. YouTube was required for Jock Homo, finally ending over two decades of wondering what they all sounded like.
Same here.
When I first heard this song I thought the lyrics were Weird Al original lyrics. It wasn't until I heard other polkas years later and started recognizing the songs that I realized the truth.
Well, nobody really cared about diversity back then. Come to think of it, most people don't care about diversity now either..................
Al is the master of music parody, but. does anyone remember Alan Sherman ?
+ken orama Oh my yes! Hello Muddah Hello Faddah was a classic. Kip Adaddah's "Wet Dream" too.
Hello Muddah Hello Faddah
i'm a little girl, when we make love together <3
+TheMinakins Chris Henson called. He wants you to take a seat right there....
@perspectivedetective *Hanson
"TALKIN BOUT MY G-G-G-G-G-G-G-G-G-
speech impediment."
…or drunk on 211 #SteelReserve
No, this is polkas on 45, which is vinyl. It's a scratch in the record.
Just loved his version of "Hot Blooded"
somebody do this on kingdom hearts!!!
I thought The Alternative Polka was pretty good.
I like how all his polka medleys go through some twenty or so different melodies and tempos, but all pretty much have the same ending.
yeah Polka Face was really great
I want him to make each single song in there to full songs!!!
1:00-1:15 LOL!!!
4:26 Worst Part ¬¬
My g-g-g-generation blows...
Billie D-d-d-duh ! Eilish
one of the best songs ever recorded...EVER!
this is one of the best songs he ever made
IN A GADDA DA VIDA!
2:59 Leave it to Al to make a creepy song humorous.
@chamberl "Sex (I'm A...)" by Berlin
This is hilarious, "Weird Al" is a comedic genius
1:00 -1:15
That's Disgusting!!!!
I LOVVEEEE THIS
MY GENERATION!!!
favorite polka ever
@chamberl its called the game
I've never actually heard the real song that goes "I'm a boy I'm a man ... I'm a little girl when we make love together". What song is that?
chamberl Sex (I’m A...) by Berlin
FUCKIN POLKA KING!!
Haha. In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida and Hey Joe are epic. I love it when he starts yodeling.
lmfao the parody of Berlin is sooo funny xD
the first time i heard this, i laughed so hard i cried!! one of his BEST!
@sonicgreen009 It's hard enough to get this on regular CD since I'm pretty sure they stopped making them
