Weezer - Prom Night Lyrics
Almost saw her heart beat
Under the necklaces
Caked-on concealer
Sorry 'bout the zit
She's a fan of 5SOS
Sippin' drinks at Starbucks
Didn't know what else to say
Except "hey, little girl, would you rock my world?"
Cause I love who you are, you look like a lucky star
With that makeup on, just like a young Madonna
Hey, I'm in love again
Do you remember prom night?
Your brother loves his country
Mommy closed your Instagram
It was inappropriate
Maybe I'll go with you
Driving up Mulholland
On a teenage quest for a future husband
I said "hey, little girl, would you rock my world?"
Cause I love who you are, you look like a lucky star
With that makeup on, just like a young Madonna
Hey, I'm in love again
Do you remember prom night?
Gun me around in your sweet Chevelle
We don't need any safety belts
Blast the Scorpions, yeah
We're that cool
They're gonna play the forum soon
Do you want to go?
But somehow we got separated
And I went back home all alone
I said "hey, little girl, would you rock my world?"
Cause I love who you are, you look like a lucky star
With that makeup on, just like a young Madonna
Hey, I'm in love again
Do you remember prom night?
Remember prom night?
Remember prom night

I swear to god I was putting fire sauce at the same exact time that he said "she's a fan of fire sauce."
IVE NEVER LISTENED TO THIS SONG BEFORE
Senor Morty it’s “she’s a fan of 5sos” as in the band 5 Seconds of Summer
@HailstoneArmi
My day is ruined
I love the raw garage sound and the heavy ending! I wish the ending continued on longer!
the ending needs to be the whole song
I think everyone in the comments are basically freaking out about the 5sos reference 😂😂 *also 2 years late to this song*
"She's a fan of 5sos only cuz their so hot" Basically half of the 5sos fans rn
"She's a fan of 5sos only bc their so hot" HAHAHAHHA whut
Not enough "Ough"s and "yeaaaah"s for Maladroit. Come on, people. You call yourselves Weezer fans?
Every time I hear this song, I get the feeling it should have been on the album instead of Jacked up. It would be an exciting second-to-last song behind Endless summer.
I'm here bc i read this song lyrics and i see 5sos on it 😂
same, my dude

"she's a fan of 5SOS only because they're so hot " where is the 5sosfam and why isn't anyone talking about this XD
5sosfam where you at
right here LOL
"She's a fan of 5sos" IM DEAD
I JUST REALIZED THEY REFERENCED 5SOS. BLERGHNJKGLIG :))))))
What the hell did I just find??? Is this where all the 'Pinkerton' energy gets channelled-into outtakes, bonus tracks and fan club-only singles. After 23 years of listening to =w= I love this band even more now.
Great song.
I feel instant Pinkerton vibes. Put TGFG(i really like this song, don't get me wrong.) on the B-Sides and replace it with this song. It fits so much better with the album vibe.
why only the Japanese get a bonus. This is bullshit, my boy
Overall, I like the song. What I hate is that the first couple bars sounds like it is going to be an immensely deep, dark, beautiful song (Pinkerton), and then the rest is just upbeat, relatively superficial pop.
Ace Diamond ikr...I wish that intro was used for for something else....So beautiful
The White Album is lighter than Pinkerton overall, but the Black Album that is coming out soon is said to be its contrast so that's a plus for fans of Weezer's styles.
I Agree, after the first few lyrics I was expecting "hear you meeee, Miiiiiikel, hear you me, Caaaaaaaarli. Xd
starts sounding like mighty morphin power rangers at the end yo
Great backing vocals, I love the falsetto. More falsetto please!
Eh not a great tune. Friend of a Friend was the best deluxe song and deserved to replace thank God for girls.
Although the lyrics are cringy, the chorus is so daaamn catchy.
Sky Arrow Bridge
Rivers: Nani?
terrible song.
retro spectre Why?
this shouldve been a replacement for thank god for girls
now im buying japanese import.....
Yet another song about Courtney Love I take it, Kurt? Btw that intro guitar sounds like the 'Lost in Hollywood' intro guitar by System of a Down lol, a bit grim and out of place don't you think. Now that I play it again it sounds like the EXACT same guitar.
XQeliographX This song is all over the fucking place. But I think it fits in a way.
And yeah, It sounds just like "Lost in Hollywood" what the fuck?
This should be on our deluxe white album, it's awesome!
agree 100%
Eli W yeah I'm kinda pissed about that
I liked it till the 5sos lyric
Lame Ghoul that's my favorite part!
theyre kind of shitting on 5sos so hey
Lame Ghoul why it was a knock on 5sos because people only like them because "there so hot"
Jacob Bastian ohh okay
"shes a fan of 5sos, only cos they're so hot"
A M A N D A what was it before
A Bag of Delicious Doritos Chips lol
we all go through that phase its ok
God as much as I wanna say the white album wasn't my favorite but if this song was on the original album playlist and not just a Japanese bonus It might have made it allotted better in my eyes because this song is awesome
did i hear it right? they say 5SOS?? <3
Ahaha - weston white man can suk my ball coz mi so soupeariar coz japan got bone arse track for wheza album. lik my dik murica ahahaha
Why did weezer include bonus tracks in another country if they cant even understand it?
@Dark Neal oh man, sorry for the mistake, mr 90s kid
Rivers loves Japan
Also, Japan is literally the only country on earth with a large population actually wanting to buy physical CD. So you need to give them a little something extra.
Rivers has a Japanese wife I think
Man and all this time I thought because rock music was more successful and popular in Japan.
I am really angry. Why didnt this come with my vinyl copy of white when I got it a couple months late even. Why tf is this exclusive to japan. Its a much better song than TGFG (I love that song ) and would have flowed better with the coehesion... wtf rivers y u do dis.
@ChrisTheSheriff true
No dude. Japan and other countries get extra songs added to their albums from almost every artist. It's always been that way for whatever reason. I think it's a crime myself!!!
@83thechaz i read somewhere that in japan, hard copies of albums are rarely bought because it's easier for them to import the albums from the west. So they add bonus songs to albums in japan to boost sales
Yep. Sounds right to me :) Still think it's a crime because growing up I didn't have YouTube. So if you found a single with that extra track you had to snag it before someone else did...you'd literally have to snag it and run for your life lol!! But the good news is we don't have to worry about that today :)
True, albums in Japan usually cost around $30 bucks, while the imports are usually less than half that.
did he say 5sos... why....
A song I had to listen to a couple times to really start liking. But now I can't stop listening to it. The chorus has been stuck in my head all weekend haha. I wouldn't have been mad if this song was on the album.
The White Album passes the test if you're looking to return to Weezer after the Blue-->Maladroit Years: https://tonesofhomesite.wordpress.com/2016/04/30/weezers-the-white-album-review/
Why couldn't this song be on the U.S. release as well?! This song is nice!
I don't really like the music all that much, but the lyrics are ironic and great
Switch it around and that's what most people think of this song
First two seconds could be the start of "Love Will Tear Us Apart."
Weezer has a way of making an otherwise horrible song to a very catchy and enjoyable tune. I like it
Marcy Gonzalez no other band can do copy what weezer does best
im sorry, i really dont get what you mean
frigen only japan.
Is this for your wifeoo? Rivers?
oh damn, dope ending
The guitar at 2:08 is incredible O.o
That was kind of weak ngl
How could this not have been on the White album?? Love the album, but come on..Weezer always seems to leave the best songs out.
The songs sound good but, jesus christ, the lyrics. Rivers is fucking 45 singing to 17 year old girls. What the fuck.
no, he's looking at his life back when he was around that age. he does that a lot. cage the elephant does this well in "cigarette daydreams"
@Jordan Buchacher
I understand what you're saying but Rivers does this really often. And in Cigarette Daydreams I think he's singing about when he met his wife and she was 17.
It's not like Rivers when he sings about hanging out at the mall hitting on teenagers. Based on the interviews I've seen with Rivers I get the sense that he does this cause he thinks it'll make his music moreappealing to a younger demographic.
I agree. Rivers seem to be writing music like he's still in his teens and hasn't moved on from the past. I like the lyrics though
Rivers based a lot of the white album lyrics on personal stories told to him by various CA locals. Wouldn't be surprised if this is from the literal perspective of a teenage guy.
This might be me, but I really don't hear Maladroit in this. When I think Maladroit I think thumping, driving guitars and anthemic choruses, meanwhile this is more Pinkerton-ish. Yeah, I can kinda hear bits of Slob and maybe Fall Together, but overall it doesn't sound like anything that would be on Maladroit.
+Hi Jac i agree. maladroit has the heavy guitar riffs. pinkerton is more melodic, dark, and guitar driven a lot like this one
Hi Jac homestuck and weezer, perfect.
Hi Jac NOT pinkerton at all
I feel like this is a mix between Pinkerton and Maladroit
Yeah it sounds like a Pinkerton Bonus Track
first verse was secretly rives' rap diss of basic bitches lol
This song reminds me of Across the Sea
Sounds like Rivers covering a Puffy AmiYumi song.
holly shit it does
cringe lyrics to be quite honest
yes lol
limaniner34 Cringe lyrics in a good way in my opinion
@Brandon Lopez Pinkerton level of cringe is great for me, but I'm glad this was left out of the album as a whole
isn't that part of weezers charm?
Don’t think Japan will care.
Take Thank God For Girls off and replace it with this and the White Album would have been damn solid
Don Beck friend of a friends would've been nice too
*Maladroit flashbacks*
Good point, this does sound a lot like Maladroit.
This song is definitely a SS2k gem
It does sound like it. And I liked Maldroit, so this is good
Sounds like a polished SS2K song.
Like the sound of the drums on this. Why didn't they record the album like this?
Why is this just a bonus track? Com'n Weez!
Sounds like Ozma
Beat me to it
Rock N Roll Part III: one of the best weezer albums
Daniel Mont Holy shit! Some Ozma fans here!
Alex Retro yes!!!!
what should've been on the white album besides TGFG
+Evan Leo I liked thank god for girls...
+Oregondanne when they came out with Do you wanna get high and king of the world. I was so excited and thought it would be like Pinkerton. Still love it because it is Weezer, but it's like Raditude. Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori rocks though.
+Evan Leo True
you've invited debate, ie u r a troll, on purpose or not. Reading the debate comments I'm struck by:
people are full of shit and why am i wasting my time reading this?
cuz i quit listening to weezer til this record and re-discovered their greatness i guess.
The lyrics on both songs are superior to most crap on the radio and I don't care about 'sounds like' or left off or not, we're hearing it now.
It is on the album. If you're from Japan that is.
à quand le bonus français ??? :( Please Please .. me no for the french :)
Why is this not on the American release!? I rather have this on the playlist than TGFG
Once I heard the line "...with that makeup on..." I was hooked.
+Juan J. Dueñas well it is a hook after all :P
Sounds like an anime intro, no wonder why its a Japan exclusive lol
The ending is killer. This whole track took a few listens to grow on me but it's stellar. I'd say its underrated by the reception I've been seeing. - I'd really like to see more of Rivers letting his metal side flow.
I mean he REALLY let his metal side flow in Return to Ithaka. Holy fucking shit did he.
I thought you were exaggerating till I heard the end of the song.
That ending is in fact "Killer"! Well done with your short review! I wish they did more heavy stuff.
really like this song
Alrighty then
@Kurt Meister Alrighty then
@Kurt Meister alrighty then
+Kuame Althen righty
so do i, say it aint so....
I made a great album using tracks from each album released after Pinkerton, and it's actually really good.
https://open.spotify.com/user/jazzmasters/playlist/0VN9AzphyIEBm4wK3WqlW0
It just sounds like a compilation playlist of Weezer songs. Doesn't sound like an album at all.
@thisisnotart.
3 things
1. Yea, the order of which i put the songs doesn't show up when people click on it for some reason, which is frustrating.
2. If you're already familiar with the songs, it's especially just going to sound like a compilation of songs
3. It's mostly for people who've eschewed weezer as bad or over post-pinkerton, and gives them something to listen to.
@Cstefos kk cool idea man
Yeah i agree i wish they didn't water down the Guitars so much on the record i love the green album sound loud
Mike Davis green album was mediocre at best
Very cool song ! Thank you for posting
Good chords, but not a good track
Is this song on the album?
+Mark Winchester Just in the Japanese version.
Ilike this Album a lot, Rivers takes vocals notes so high like in Jacked Up, and so down like this song.
@Jeremy Schep Hey I'll give ya that. I didn't like TKOL
@Zennan Perkins I loved AMSP though, and the White Album. This year has just been great for music in general, imo. But you do you. I for one couldn't be happier with the new Weezer album and I hope they keep it up because I thought EWBAITE was great too.
@Jeremy Schep this has been a good year for music no doubt. But this record disappointed me for the most part.
@Zennan Perkins to each his own :)
@Jeremy Schep Indeed
whoa this song is too weeaboo
+YEE EEY How is it "too weeaboo?"
What are you talking about with weaboo? That's hardly even a word, more of a falsified vague connotation than anything.
Leave it to Weezer to have their best sound on their worst song. They really capture their old sound on this song when they should've done it on other tracks from the white album. I mean I really like the new album I just wish more songs sounded like this and do you wanna get high.
Sounds more like a Maladroit track imo
+thisisnotart. Maladroit is well over a decade old. It's their old sound at this point.
In one way I can sort of see why this was an exclusive track as it sort of meanders, but I also really like the 50's feel of the chorus.
