Ween - Shamemaker Lyrics

When I feel ashamed
I get so scared
It makes me wanna hurt you
Shamemaker

My body aches
And I feel alone
I'm in a very defensive place
Shamemaker

Oh oh-oh ooh!
Feel the feeling oh!
Process feelings
Feel it in the belly
Like a yellow worm with teeth

Oh oh-oh ooh!
Bring it down, don't think too much
Feel the feeling
Let it have its way til it says good bye
Go!

I need to breathe
Just need to breathe
Don't walk away
Shamemaker

Touch me
You need to touch me
But I'm afraid
Shamemaker

Oh oh-oh ooh!
Feel the feeling oh!
Process feelings
Feel it in the belly
Like a yellow worm with teeth

Oh oh-oh ooh!
Bring it down dont think too much
Feel the feeling
Let it have its way til it says good bye
Let it have its way til it says good bye

Let it go
Shamemaker

I really love this one and others like it. The sillier the lyrics the more experimental the music is. I can't help but laugh at this one and others like so many people in the neighborhood or dancing in the show tonight. Not many songs that you can laugh and dance to!

I love how they go full-blown Philly on this one.

Most underrated song in their Discography.

Ween makes fun and makes a better song at the same time, rip blink182

hahaha Gene HAD to be poking a little fun at Tom Delong with this song, there's no way it's not at least partly referencing Delong's ridiculous "SoCal" pop-punk vocal delivery. Ahh, Ween is fucking golden.

They're definitely poking fun at Blink, but at the same time, i'll bet Gener wrote this after getting "All the Small Things" stuck in his head like everyone has, whether they'll admit it or not.

They have a few catchy tunes. I was a huge fan of Blink-182 when I was like 12 or 13-ish. Not so much these days. It got harder and harder to not find them ridiculous the older I got and the more music I discovered, but I can definitely admit that some of their songs are very catchy in a pure pop sense. And also, now that I'm almost 30, there is definitely a nostalgia factor there, as almost anyone will find when listening to music from an earlier time in their life.

Tuan Jim you hit the nail on the head. I'm 36 and Blink brings me right back to high school. Great music when feeling nostalgic, but as a band they don't come anywhere close to Ween.

    SHAMEMAKER + WEED + FOREST + A FUKIN SUNNY DAY= A HAPPY TRIP!!!

I think the whole album is pretty great, not necessarily the same caliber as Chocolate & Cheese or Quebec, but it's solid nontheless. This is among the better withdrawal songs ever written.

  13. m.... ....

@naotacoon No, this is definitely Ween.

  14. d.... b....

@PaulTheHeretic i don't know, i thought there was quite a bit of variation on there myself. Most of it just wasn't great, that's all. and the attempts at throwbacks to me were weak. e.g 'My Own Bare Hands' is like something off GodWeenSatanm, 'Blue Balloon' sounds like a Pure Guava era reject etc.

    d.... b....

dios bananos I agree I think its their weakest album as a whole, but still fucking great for the most part. Ween has no bad albums man

  15. d.... b....

@PaulTheHeretic Glad i'm not the only one that feels this way. Most Ween fans i know love this album. I think it's their worst since GodWeenSatan, easily!!!! It has its moments, but there is just something off about it. the songs are average, the sound is flat, and it just doesn't sound very inspired to me overall.

What bothers me is that they spent a lot of time working on it. Not sure if that's a sign they have run out of ideas, or that they should just trust their instincts more.

    d.... b....

dios bananos I think it’s definitely possible for them to run out of ideas. Take Metallica for example, the were so inspired and had great ideas, but now, in the 2000’s, they suck! I think it’s definitely healthy for a band to split, because if they don’t, then they will start to release crappy, forced music. Btw, they have indeed started working on their own projects. Try listening to FREEMAN (that’s the band name) or The Deaner Album

Not really getting into their new stuff (I think the last great Ween album was Quebec.)

Funny story...In the 80's, I was not only a huge DMM fan, but I,was in their fan club. They basically got me through the eighties....mywys fast forwrd to 2003, one random evening at a loacl brew meeting in my city. The Name The Dead Milkmen became a topic from one of the older brew members...we got to talkimg as I tolf him I grew up on TDMM?..turns out, he was the Stuart they wrote a song about. Dave Blood RIP went to Purdue nd they were buds...TDMM played a show on the front porch of his Trailer at his park...I COULDN'T believe I was sitting mext to THE Stuart I had been singing since the 80's!
