Waylon Jennings - Waymore's Blues, Part 2 Lyrics

Well I woke up this mornin' it was drizzlin' rain
Around the curve come a passanger train
Heard somebody yodel and a hobo moan Jimmy he's dead he's been a long time gone
Been a long time gone a long time gone
If you wanna get to heaven gotta D-I-E you gotta put on your coat and T-I-E
Wanna get the rabbit out of the L-O-G
You gotta make a cold motion like D-O-G like D-O-G like D-O-G yeah

Well I got a good woman what's the matter with me
What makes me wanna love every woman I see
I was tri'fling when I met her now I'm tri'fling again
And every woman she sees looks like the place I came in
Looks like the place I came in place I came in
I got my name painted on my shirt I ain't no ordinary dude
I don't have to work I don't have to work

Long time fan really miss Waylon the best voice only bested by Johnny overall they don’t make em like this anymore

  2. J.... l....

Wait, there’s a part 2. I thought I had heard all his music.

  3. L.... S....

he had a dead look in his eyes when he was high on drugs but not after he quit the drugs

  4. R.... S....

Unreal how many songs he’s done. Now matter how deep you dig...he’s done somethin you ain’t never heard

    R.... S....

He layed down his take on the song, often being a B.side that would break the top 100 but just that 2 weeks at 93 on the charts. Then someone would do a cover of his take and hit big with it. Happened many times. The oft times 1 hit ers all agreed Waymore did it best and did it right. Many people don't realize this man is behind most popular music sounds of his time and for a long time after, plus he could sing as good as a professional classical artist ,had uncanny range in his vocals, but on the very top is his pure musical prowess. A guitar pickers picker, watched One earlier called RARE FOOTAGE 1975 outlaw Waylon, Ramblin man. I think this was recorded as a showcase of the sound he developed and names outlaw country to the music labels heads. He shows up ,looks a little drunk, the band is playing already. He makes it to the end of the song ,tells the band to keep it rolling ( he had fixed the tempo already) walks back adjusts his amp tries a different pick up cord. Then plays with the bass and drummer sealing his speed then picks that guitar cool as a cucumber, at 2.27 you hear the soul man blues brothers main riff while he is playing around. Then just before the end he does something that looks impossible playing Buddy Holy style but Waylon I zed. Cool video, Va.Hoss is the channel. Check it out if you haven't yet. It's worth it. This guy had it all and was the best in his field. It took his own sound to send him to stardom. I heard he told them all "I'm the best. " no one disagreed with him that I know of. Maybe 1 or 2 who didn't live to tell anyone about it did, lack of knowledge, a proud look , those qualities do not find favor amoung the enlightened. He just let them fly away .......

Awesome album! Great song! I noticed that "Waymore's Blues Part II" album and "Closing In on the Fire" album are very much different from other albums. Why is that? And those 2 albums are my favorites!

    Z.... S....

Waymore's Blues Part 2 from Wikipedia: It was recorded and released at a time in Jennings' career when he wasn't signed to any major label; Waymore's Blues (Part II) was a one-off return to RCA for the singer following short stints at MCA Records and Epic Records. It was produced by Don Was, who would lend his distinctive style of production to The Highwaymen's The Road Goes on Forever a year later. Jennings later stated, "We clicked from the start of the first take, which was the title cut," and instructed the musicians "to forget about everything they had ever heard me do."[2] He later recalled:

For his part, Don was looking at what he called my essence; he wanted to create an instrumental texture, a pad of colors, rather than having the usual trading of licks. He didn't want to lose me in a sea of arrangement. He called it impressionistic, like a painting, and when we heard "Waymore's Blues Part II" come over the speakers, I understood what he was getting at...And I was proud of that album, because it felt like I was back in command of myself, sure of my creativity, knowing I was reaching for something I hadn't done before, and finding it.[3]

In his 1996 memoir Waylon, Jennings reflected on several of the cuts:

Old Timer: "'Old Timer' was very dear to my heart, a poignant tale about an old mountain man from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, who loved a woman from St. Paul. She came to visit her brother, and they met each other in the wilds. He could never tell her he loved her..."[4]

Wild Ones: "There were things like 'Wild Ones,' where I remembered the times when me, Willie, and Jessi had come to town and how we had shaken up Nashville's hierarchy up in our fight to keep the music honest."[5]

Endangered Species: "There were more like me at one time, the song was saying, and though 'a man in love is what you want to be,' it was also talking about the way you carry yourself, and how where once the song and the performance of the song was the thing, now videos have shifted the emphasis and fantasy away from the hearing..."[5]

Waymore's Blues Part II: "I was still saying things that every macho you-don't-mess-around-with-me guy might say, but I probably didn't feel the need to live up to them much now."[5]

"You Don't Mess Around with Me" was used in the soundtrack to the movie Maverick, which also featured Jennings on "Amazing Grace". Waymore's Blues (Part II), whose title is a reference to an earlier, popular Jennings composition, reached #63 on the country charts, with no charting singles. The song "Wild Ones" was done as a music video in 1994.

Members of the Western Writers of America chose "The Old Timer" as one of the Top 100 Western songs of all time.[6]

OMG - listening to these lyrics, how in the heck did he manage to stay married? I know he had a lot of divorced, but the last marriage with Jesse - she must have been a saint!

    C.... S....

@laura Johnson Well I do got another picture of Waylon kissing another lady in 1972, but that must be another outlaw bit huh?

    C.... S....

@Mr.ManMakesLotsOfCan no but he could be kissing a fan..i am not saying he was perfect...people screw up..and around..not just people in the public eye..all i am saying is that tabloids or magazines make it out more than it is...we should just appreciate his talent not what people say about him ..which by the way ,,,may not be true...what ever the case we should not judge him by a few pics ...talk about the videos and interviews and shows he did with Jessie...and how lovingly they look at each other...what is "reported" not necessarily true...people are naive to think that all in papers and mags are the whole truth,,, no one was there to hear him give Jessie an ultimatum of him sleeping around or not...rumors ...that is all they are..and no one knows but Waylon and Jessie..so to speak of things you do not know first hand ...and to speak ill of the dead is WRONG...how would you feel if someone judged you by a photograph of yourself in a similar situation..( Eg: kissing some one other than your partner...) and it was a close friend...or relative...just saying appreciate their (Waylon and Jessie's and their happiness shown in public..tv shows etc...) talents..do not dwell on thing that quite honestly is A)none of our business and B) we DO NOT KNOW FOR A FACT... JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED...simple and honest

    C.... S....

@laura Johnson fuck you bitch. The man wrote it in every single song he personally wrote. Just because you're too fuckin stupid to acknowledge reality doesn't mean it isn't there

    C.... S....

@laura Johnson why are you so emotionally invested in this. Rod fuckin Stewart was getting 12 year old girls pregnant at the same damn time

    C.... S....

“I was trifling when I met her now I’m trifling again” “Every woman she sees looks like a place I came in” -HOSS

Waylon is the King of Country!...

This is probably my favorite album of Waylon's.. it's got so many musical textures and his lyrical work is second to none.. Don Was really brought it all home in the sense of production.
