Waylon Jennings - Waltz Across Texas Lyrics

When we dance together my world's in disguise
It's a fairyland tale that's come true
When you look at me girl with those stars in your eyes
I could waltz across Texas with you.

Waltz across Texas with you in my arms
Waltz across Texas with you
Like a storybook ending I'm lost in your charms
And I could waltz across Texas with you.

My heartaches and troubles are just up and gone
The moment you come into view
With your hand in mine dear I could dance on and on
And waltz across Texas with you.

Waltz across Texas with you in my arms
Waltz across Texas with you
Like a storybook ending I'm lost in your charms
And I could waltz across Texas with you.

Waylon Jennings Waltz Across Texas Comments

This is the problem with being a modern country drummer: many old country musicians were uneducated and didnt know what a waltz was. It's typically a 3/4 time signature - 6/8 would work as well. You count "1,2,3". Then repeat - "1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3" and so on. To play "waltz across texas" in 2/4 or 4/4 is a disgrace. But that's just my opinion. I'm sure many dancers feel the same.

"There's always at least one more way to do things, and that's _your way_, and you have a right to try it at least once." - Waylon Jennings. That's a great quote from him. I have it on my bathroom mirror.
I love his funkier stuff like this. But not as much as I love the way he told the world "I can be any kind of me I wanna be." He was so ahead of his time.

  13. G.... H....

its a fairyland that comes true.

  14. J.... I....

He murdered a great song here.

    J.... I....

Raul Malo and The Mavericks do it much better!

    J.... I....

He has always been know for being outside the box.
Not everybody can be an ignorant, racist, piece of shit like "Jay Igaboo"

    J.... I....

    "
He has always been know for being outside the box.
Not everybody can be an ignorant, racist, piece of shit like "Jay Igaboo"..... Thankfully, not everyone is in the same box as you are: the one marked "Stupid, unthinkingly conformist, time-serving and sanctimonius libtarded prig".
A certain amount of race conciousness is a healthy dynamic in any society, but you're too fucking brainwashed to ever consider that, you just spew out your hackneyed "racist" crap and expect everyone to roll over-- it's getting old. To put it in words you'll understand, "Go fuck yourself."

    J.... I....

Ignorance really must be bliss, if you honestly believe that shit about "race conciousness". Which you misspelled by the way(it's consciousness). You are just trying to justify your rancid neo-nazi spew with some mediocre vocabulary and 7th grade spelling. You are the very opposite of enlightened. Go back to cutting eye holes in your pillow cases and humping your cousin. Leave the civilized world to the more evolved people.

    J.... I....

Ad hominem abuse, pedantry, accusations of Nazism and KKK membership, et cetera, how surprising to have these clichés levelled at one, after all it’s not as if it’s a libtard’s knee-jerk Pavlovian reaction, is it?
I misspelled one word? The horror!
Yes, of course, that would COMPLETELY invalidate all my points.( It may have been a typo, maybe not, as I wasn't preparing an article to be published in a prestigious journal, I was merely posting a quick retort to a pompous clown.)
Nota bene: If you are going to be a pedantic cunt, do at least try to spell a simple 4-letter word like "Nazi" correctly, you dim-witted dope-dependent fuckwit.

". Go back to cutting eye holes in your pillow cases"........ PC pseudo-liberal bigots like you are closer psychologically and emotionally to Nazis and KKK types, both are obsessed with dictating everyone's attitude to race, and possessed of the same lynch-mob mentality.
“ and humping your cousin”……. I say, old chap, isn’t that a rather racist and false stereotype of country-dwelling White Americans?
It’s so uncalled for, after all I didn’t suggest that you go back to getting humped by your boyfriend.
You can have the last word, life’s too short for trading insults with internet arseholes—Byeeee!

  15. T.... T....

  17. J.... M....

    Too Cool

  18. s.... ....

I love Waylon, but why does he do this in 4/4? I mean it is a song about waltzing...

    s.... ....

+swinggeist  I have the same opinion....

    s.... ....

    Yup--it stinks, it's much better in 3/4.

    s.... ....

    his stlye OUTLAW

    s.... ....

To the "trio" below :- The song is written as a waltz, guys. A beautiful "Country Song" & my favourite version in the 3/4 -tempo is by Willie Nelson. HOWEVER, Waylon gives it a sort of Country-Rock feel & I admire him for it. He was always "his own man", and sings a "Rock"song about a Country "Waltz". There is nothing wrong with being a little different.
Rest in peace, Waylon. Lisa, Jessie, myself & thousands of others have always enjoyed your music. Desmond Kelly.

  19. W.... ....

Can't say I like it much (cannabis not doing it for me tonight)

  20. j.... v....

  21. L.... D....

Waylon can make any song his own.   He is the best singer ever.  I MISS him terribly.    I am so thankful that I discovered him in the sixtees and then of course during his best years in the 70's.   I have never stopped listening to HIM since.  R.I.P. Waylon so talented and so handsome.

  22. S.... ....

  23. 4.... ....

By the way...that's THE Jerry Reed on electric guitar. If you listen real close near the end, you can hear him laughing.
