He does a great job on this Bobby Bare song. But then he puts his own touch on anything he sings. Love listening, his voice soothes something in my soul.

Billy Joe Shaver wrote it, and he does it a little different I like them both. Bobby Bare hired Billy Joe as a writer for him and they travelled around together back in the day according to both of them. Bobby Bare definitely had it first.

Yeah, one sign of a true master is the ability to take a song that someone else has already done, and make it your own. Ol' Hoss did that like no one else ever could. Amazing talent, and one that will will be heard for a long time, I'm guessing!

Great version! Bobby Bare took this song to #14 in 1966. Both renditions are superb.
