Jessi Colter, his wife, wrote this for him to sing. Had she tweaked the lyrics a bit so she herself could sing it from "Mona's" perspective, she would have had one hell of a follow-up to her "I'm Not Lisa" blockbuster. Waylon always turns any song into magic, for sure.

Had this on an 8 track, I missed my dad. He made the 8 track for me. My mom continued to get married 7-9 more times, still had dad and Waylon, LOL. He still contined to provide me with Waylon thru 8 track, then cassettes, then CDs

One of his very best, it may not be perfect, have the best arrangement, but it's the soul you can hear in it and his voice...thats what made Waylon so good

I know there is no such thing as a "favorite" when it comes to Waylon's songs but this one is my all time night time favorite, on repeat, the music is so "soothening" and takes me back to yesteryears!!!!

I imagine that Jessi wrote this song about herself (at his request). Either way, I think it's one of the sweetest songs on "This Time"
