I'm from central Ky. Always loved the (Outlaw shit) real country music. Why I'm so proud that guys like sturgill simpson n tyler childers are bringing back original country music. Real lyrics anyone can relate to, not just a guy in a Pick up on a old dirt road with a cooler of beer wanting every one to know how country he is.

One reason why I love Waylon's music is that he could take a slow song and make it energetic with his playing and that Ritchie Albright foot drum beating in the back. "Whoop whoop"

Waylon had his own style on the guitar, just like his singin'. I worked with a lot of fine lead players who laughed at his playing. Of course my comment to them was "then why can't you play it?".

Laugh at Waylon's guitar work?? They must be the reincarnation of Jimmy Hendrix since in my humble non-musician opinion Waylon was anything but laughable. His guitar running through everything just gave his music that " it can't be anybody but him" signature sound. Check out the Highwaymen live at Nassau Coliseum to see just how good he was. All four were great but when Waylon does his "chicken pickin" on "Are you sure Hank done it this way" it's show over. No disrespect to you're friends but Waylon had a forty plus career, you can't last that long fooling people. Even the great Reggie Young marvelled at Waylon's playing.
