Waylon Jennings - Good Hearted Woman Lyrics

She's a good-hearted woman in love with a good-timin' man
She loves him in spite of his wicked ways
She don't understand
Through teardrops and laughter,
They'll pass through this world hand in hand,
She's a good-hearted woman loving a good-timin' man.

Well, a long time forgotten
Dreams have just fell by the way
And the good life he promised
Ain't what she's living today
But she never complains of the bad times
Or bad things he's done
She just talks about the good times they've had
And all the good times to come.

She's a good-hearted woman in love with a good-timin' man
She loves him in spite of his wicked ways
She don't understand
Through teardrops and laughter,
They'll pass through this world hand in hand,
She's a good-hearted woman loving a good-timin' man.

He likes the bright light, the nite life
And good-timin' friends
When the party's all over
She'll welcome him back home again
She don't understand him,
But she does the best that she can
This good-hearted woman
Lovin' a good-timin' man.

She's a good-hearted woman in love with a good-timin' man
She loves me in spite of my wicked ways
She don't understand
Through teardrops and laughter,
They'll pass through this world hand in hand,
She's a good-hearted woman loving a good-timin' man.
She's a good-hearted woman loving a good-timin' man.

  63. K.... R....

This song is for my grandma who put up with my grandpa's shit for years but stuck by him till he died.

    K.... R....

If he isn’t cheating you or beating you, you stay with him. Women these days think they got the world by the balls. Once that mans gone you’re just a victim in waiting.

    K.... R....

@S B I don't disagree with this. I wouldnt tolerate cheating or abuse. Otherwise I wouldnt leave my marriage. I would work on it. I don't understand how people can just get married and end it over pettiness and pride. Marriage to me is a lifetime commitment again though I wouldn't tolerate abuse or cheating.

    K.... R....

    It goes both ways though.

    K.... R....

    S B

My ex wife wanted a divorce because I was too boring. I never cheated or beat her but I guess working my ass off so we could have a nice home for our family and take three vacations a year just wasn’t enough. That’s feminism for you.

  64. P.... W....

'member hearing this during a drunken week somewhere in the backass of Daytona Beach in the early/mid 70s. It was the favored song in my favored roost for the week, The Boot Hill Saloon, a place I stumbled into and initially questioned whether I belonged there, and by the end of the week, questioned whether I belonged anywhere else. Great tune. Sorry to say I've never been back, Boot Hill or otherwise.

  65. M.... C....

This city slicker is a convert to country music, thanks in part to this man--his voice, message, and musical mastery!

  66. D.... H....

The DUI guy is the good timing man.

  68. D.... e....

Freddy Fender was a great Hispanic singer to.

    D.... e....

Freddie Fender was one of the greats doesn't matter if Hispanic or otherwise. He's just as good as any of the others.
Earl Thomas Conley had some good sounding songs if he would have used positive lyrics.
I'd liked to know Johnny Paychecks Mexican friend in Colorado Kool Aid.
I still enjoy these old songs but I realize they feed a persona. Giving a person something to feel good about themselves even if they weren't much to the world.
Like Waylon and the others, I'm sure they have nice homes and lots of property.
Which like a friend of mines dad, he fell into these songs. Never seen him drunk. He liked his little Miller's, where he'd nurse them all night, never getting drunk. Then he did smoke a little pot. But after he got right, he was a lot of fun to be around.
Like one weekend, someone was playing the guitar, someone else was cooking gumbo, everyone else just laughing and having fun. Lol. Today, I pray for all my old friends and others I knew. Where it'd be nice to see them if we do get a new soul.

  69. F.... K....

This music will never die love it from uk follower x

    Don't trust anyone under 70.

  77. L.... D....

Pop culture does influence young folks. So it's sad that we don't have an abundance of men like Waylon anymore. Makes me feel bad for girls growing up with the slim pickins for real men.

Tryin' to loosen up my left shoulder from fallin' off a chair last night and list'nin to Waylon and what a great poet and all around singer he has been. I hang my hat on his saddle horn.

  82. C.... S....

This song inspired a whole generation of enablers for drug and alcohol addiction. Glad the times and thinking are changing. I think even Waylong admitted it before he passed over.

    C.... S....

    You are a moron

  83. T.... ....

When country didn't suck, before the Republicans suckered the entire rural working class with relentless propoganda. THey don't even pick singer this good anymore, and the songs now blow. Garth Brooks and TOby Keith can suck it. There are a couple of new people coming up from the roots finally.

You just know that's for Jessi! :)

  91. G.... H....

I only just learned today that Waylon is the fella who gave up his seat on the plane the day the music died.
Never knew that but knew of Waylon for so long.
Crazy shit man, chilling. For me at least, and I guess for him all those years ago.

  92. b.... ....

Great voice, great lyrics, great musicians but... and this goes for most country artists... don't they get a bit bored playing such limited chords... over and over again?

    b.... ....

Wonder if ol Waylon is still around today 2019 anyone !

  93. R.... ....

He could've sung my clothes, off!

"Nashville Rebel", the movie, was released on 1966. "Good Hearted Woman" was written in 1968 by Waylon and Willie. It was recorded/released in 1972 on Waylon's album of the same name.
