Waylon Jennings - Cactus Texas Lyrics
Do you remember Cactus Texas nothing but a wide place in the road
Eighteen wheelers never go there main Street's just too narrow for the load
A little town of honest people some we haven't seen for quite awhile
I was young and restless and we both were full of dreams and running wild
We were out to win the world not once looking back or losing aim
We hit the big town and the big time not a lot of effort in the deal
But in the bargain we lost touch with one another and old feelings that were real
In a big house up on easy street where too much never seems to be enough
We're not the same two people far away from all the days when the times were rough
Including you and I is separated by a wall
It's not something we can talk about in fact we seldom even talk at all
I don't think we realize how or why we ever came this far

Home sweet home..
I actually live there right now
Still living here
Hey RBCP
Is he talking to his brother/sister in the song? Who's he addressing?
Hi Roy. #cactus
Cactus cactus.
fuckin' cactus everywhere, man. shit's crazy....
I sent RBCP here, then he sent me here.
We must plan a pilgrimage to Cactus and Roy, New Mexico.
18 wheelers never go there? I beg to differ..the JBS meat plant is about the only reason to go there, the town is otherwise a total shithole.
They just got raided yesterday and took 4oo Mexicans from the plant. I used to live north of there in Stratford.
Poor souls
@Ronald Solberg MAGA. SEND THEM BACK AND PUT LIBERAL PUSSIES WITH USELESS DEGREES TO WORK
Not heard this one before but yet another good one from the legend.
we were born there
There is not a hospital in Cactus or any medical at all.
@Ronald Solberg so?
@Ronald Solberg wasn't uncommon to have babies at home in rural America right up until the last couple decades
Awesome song
Just when I think I know Waylon's best, here comes a song like this for a total reset.
Sometimes I think he is reading my mind.
A Real Mans Man!
Waylon! You will always be the BEST in my mind! LUV U Man!
The epitome of cool...
Love all his songs :)
This song made me a Waylon fan. Amazing.
No reason for it not to and I love waylon and this song but it sounds a lot like Kristofferson's "Loving Her Was Easier,"
I'm from a small town living in the city now and I can truly relate to this song
yep, hwy 287 is very busy with all kinds of company truckers including JBS . HWY 287 is crossroad for truckers now.and Cactus , Tx is still growing. I live there
I lived in Stratford. I used to own Big 4 roofing but had to shut down because of physical problems. I had lots of helpers thru the years from Cactus. Most were very good. Seen the plant got raided by i.c.e. the other day.
I was born there in 1952, it was called the Cactus Camp then
I was the resident Deputy Sheriff there in the early 80s. There were a lot good people there. Most of the trouble came from people not living is Cactus.
Another awesome song by our great Man Waylon!
And put together by another great Man teddie!!! (;-)
yep your right it is a real find....thank you heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps lol......i could keep on heaping but then you wouldnt have time to add some more real finds! so suffice to say ty and please keep going......waylon is the main man!
I love that picture @ 1:02 .. he looks kinda sad...fits the song! Doesn't sound like he's playing his telecaster on this one...but still a great sound!
