Waters, Muddy - You Need Love Lyrics

You've got yearnin' and I got burnin'
Baby you look so sweet and cunning
Baby way down inside, woman you need love
Woman you need love, you've got to have some love
I'm gonna give you some love, I know you need love
You just gotta have love, you make me feel so good
You make me feel all right, you're so nice, you're so nice

You're frettin', and I'm petting
A lot of good things you ain't getting
Baby, way down inside, you need love

You need to be hugged and squeezed real tight,
*the light of the moon on some summer night
You need love and kissing too,
All these things are good for you

I ain't foolin' you need schoolin'
Baby you know you need coolin'
Baby, way down inside, woman you need love

It exported the music all around the world which which lead to a revival among the originators. Therefore Muddy waters aint complaining, in fact he was cockahoop!, it gave him resurgence, a far far greater audience, European love and respect and most importantly many many more!!!!!$$$$$$$!!!!! and a few £££ sterling too...
So he could put shoes on his 1960s children's feet and i think he would be a little disappointed over these childish arguments.

Good music gets stolen all the time, even mine... I don't mind if its covered tastefully and I get a share of the profits... ☮🔥

  12. r.... k....

led zeppelin breathed life into a otherwise boring as hell song that had no chance of remembrance. This is absolutely a magical transformation of a pile of dust that will now live on forever thanks to LZ. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mln0RciE2o0

  13. B.... ....

  17. d.... ....

They all thought it was some old shit under public domain like the old British isles folk tunes "traditional", Because if you remember at the time the blues were dead and buried. The British artists resurrected the blues, remember that.

    d.... ....

Quit making hexcuses for these priviliged white limeys, "bruvver". The blues were FAR from "dead & buried" in the '60s. Certainly not on vinyl, that's an INARGUABLE FUKT (so there! Lmwao). I yam SO sicken tyred of people like u defending the indefensible. & trusst me when I say I was a RABID Zep fan in the mid-to-late70s, so thiss izzint a rant from someone who HATED the metal balloonists, jah? 18. o.... ....

Excelente pieza de blues rock. Y si, da la impresión que el riff de la guitarra fue copiado para Whole Lotta Love. Incluso el fraseado de la letra es en esencia igual.

  19. S.... G....

Page is a bad hombre 🇲🇽

  20. w.... o....

I would not bother to put this on my turntable
    Zepplin on the other hand......

    w.... o....

Then you have no taste. And it's "zeppelin"

  21. D.... T....

led zepplin's lawyers were here; but to be fair, this is influenced by john lee hooker

  22. M.... J....

Have to say Zeps version is x 2 better. Love my Blues but Zep nailed every song they " re mastered " . lol

    M.... J....

True, both artists had great songs, led zeppelin reinvented it really well.

    M.... J....

Uh no. This song moves, soulful and has far more heart.

  23. R.... g....

    Another stolen song

  24. j.... ....

Everyone from the Beatles to The Beach Boys and more has had to pay royalties to black artists after being sued and lost

  25. H.... L....

Hey it's a Zeppelin cover band

  26. T.... ....

They say Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin is based on this song. Frankly, I just don't hear it except in the lyrics which I agree were ripped off....

  27. A.... A....

Eye hole deep in Muddy Waters you practically raise the dead!

  28. P.... g....

    LED " Copy- Past" ZEPPELIN

  29. M.... K....

Zepplin and Small Faces definitely did their homework

  30. M.... L....

Whites steal everything we do. Theyre currently hijacking hip hop. Its sickening. Fuckin vultures

  31. N.... i....

Thanks to Led Zeppelin I have found this beautiful song. And I don't care the rest.u

  32. N.... i....

Ok, Zeppelin ripped off the song but Whole Lotta Love is way better than this.

  33. N.... i....

Muddy Waters stole Greta Van Flet's song.

  34. S.... M....

Musically this is extremely different than Whole Lotta Love

    S.... M....

I love and Zeppelin's version much more than this. That however doesn't change the fact that they nicked it, and they were later sued. Zeppelin stole a whole lotta riffs.

  35. B.... S....

Muddy sounding like John Lee here or is it the other way round - I don't know - just sounds great like the Small Faces version and then Zep

  36. r.... ....

The topic of Zeppelin 'stealing' music is tired, mostly because it's nonsense. Some guy Price Pittsburgh below makes a lot of good points and I will add to them. First of all, all these blues and folk people 'stole' most of this stuff to begin with. Second of all, the majority of the accusations against Zeppelin 'stealing' are in regard to the lyrics. The music on these tunes sounds nothing like the music from the so called 'original pieces,' which we all know were never really original. On that, who cares if Robert Plant 'stole' "hey baby, blah, blah...you need love...etc." Really??? This is what the uproar is about??? These lyrics are not deep or masterful, they are just toss off blues lyrics - yes there are some exceptions, but for the most part, really a non issue. And on these lyrics, most are just a hodge podge of expressions common to the folks who originally recorded them - come in my kitchen, etc. That expression alone shows up numerous times with numerous artists, but Robert Plant 'stole' it. The bottom line is that the blues, and folk, and eventually jazz have always been living traditions and in a constant state of evolution. Writing credits for a lot of this stuff really just came down to who recorded the material first. Beyond that, Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin were taking things to a new level, really pushing the limits of the style. If you don't like it you are entitled to your opinion. There have been many 'purists' who play it all just the way is was 'recorded' originally. Great. A museum piece. If you want testimony of the Zeppelin blues evolution, look at Since I've Been Loving You. Masterpiece and really the next natural step in the evolution of the style. And no one seems to have taken it any further since. Let's all stop with the 'Zeppelin stole this or that.'

  37. W.... ....

Now: we just have to find out who Willie Dixon stole it from (and you know he did.)

  38. W.... S....

I just love the progression of this song. Everyone knows now who wrote it, who played it first and who covered it and who recovered it making it one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
That's what you call evolution. Beautiful

  39. B.... B....

Well it shows that Led Zep were not the Beatles ... They needed to steal around for songs. Copying it's easier !

  40. L.... W....

This is actually a earl hooker tune with muddy voice overdubbed

  41. D.... B....

Anyone else find the percussion noises horrible? What is that? Tapping a can with water in it? Makes this hard to listen to.

  42. B.... M....

*Robert Plant would like to know your location*

    B.... M....

    FODA-SE

  43. G.... D....

Ohhhh now I know why it sounded so familiar!!!!

  44. G.... ....

At the end of the day the arrangement Muddy Waters gave and the one Led Zeppelin gave are on different planes. One sold very few copies, the other sold millions. I challenge anyone to come up with a derivation of Led Zeppelin's version that will surpass theirs. Let's see how that goes.

  45. F.... ....

It’s a basic song but Zep, as they always did, took an average song and made it epic. Zeppelin greatest band ever.

  46. E.... r....

Why are people bitching that Led Zeppelin copied this song. Who cares if they did!? It's still way better music than now and days were all they do is literally Mumble stupid ass lyrics about ass and money and how basically artist insult Us by making shit tons of money.

    E.... r....

E rOck, It isn't about copying the song, it's about taking credit for writing something they didn't write. It's also about the original writers not getting a dime for something they created while Zeppelin reaped the rewards and the royalties for it.
Jimmy Page saw Jake Holmes perform "Dazed and Confused", recorded it with Zeppelin, and took credit for the song. He also lied in an interview when asked about it. He said he had never heard Jake Holmes. Why lie if it wasn't stolen?

  47. G.... D....

Clever how page took the underlying rhythm of this song and turned it into a main guitar riff , that's very clever.

  48. T.... ....

Jimmy page was here in Scotland a few years back, in the courts to sue some guy that was making money from led Zeppelin material. Hhmmnn me thinks JP should perhaps be giving a generous donation to the family of Willie Dixon, who wrote this song, if he has any scruples.

    T.... ....

    they already did paid Dixon

  49. C.... c....

I dont mind if u borrow from other artistes!! But give credit not steal and pretend its yours!!! That is shameful!!

  50. M.... S....

This is nice...LZ song is tough also...everyone is influenced by someone....

  51. R.... F....

GRETA VAN FLEET. Good music comes full circle and I'll listen to ALL OF IT.

  52. K.... T....

I can speak for everybody when i say that its sounds a lot better with led zeplin progression is bette

  53. M.... P....

Youuuu need coooooling, Baby i'm not fooo....sorry, wrong song.

  54. e.... u....

I think Led Zepplin covered this...kinda

  55. J.... M....

Omg it says you shook me on the bottom too 😂 (Calm down ik they credited that one on the original press)

  56. W.... L....

Just a reminder to respect your elders and to give credit where credit is due.

  57. F.... S....

yet another song zep ripped off

as a kid i loved that band , now i loathe them

    F.... S....

Just because they borrowed musical elements doesn't mean you have to loathe the music! Don't let your mind get in the way of your heart

  58. B.... P....

We were conned by Zeppelin. Fucking pukes. Ripping off the poor blacks.

  59. W.... M....

Wow ..so .. how were Zep allowed to sue the indie band Goldbug in the 90s for sampling Whole Lotta Love when it wasnt even their song??

  60. b.... s....

you can see the influence of waters on led zeppelin, but that's it, influences, I do not see plagiarism, they all had influences

    b.... s....

They stole it and when Willie Dixon estate took them court they won.

  61. I.... ....

    I don't need love I'm a 🐐

  62. M.... H....

    Stole it.

  63. J.... M....

Zeppelin has a history of taking another song and using it as a basis for something they re-create and called it their own (without crediting the original artist). That is the bottom line. Many artist have done it before and continue to do it today. Zeppelin did it with tone & style.
Even HENDRIX took other artist material and made it his own, but he gave credit where credit was due. He took several songs like All Along the Watchtower and made it his own (still giving Dylan credit). The same goes with killing Floor (Holin Wolf), and Hey Joe (Tim Rose). However Hendrix was artist that was so far out there, so creative that no one can truly copy. SRV gave a good try...

    J.... M....

hendrix was a vastly superior guitarist to page

    J.... M....

    Most Definitely!!!

    J.... M....

Great perspective on it!! Jimi is at the top of the mountain where no one can reach him!!!

  64. J.... M....

    The opening riff sounds similar

  65. M.... ....

Led Zeppelin or absolute thieves they stole all of their music there frauds I like when people say either legendary rock stars there nobody they just steal everything they're just fake.

    M.... ....

    > *they stole all of their music*
"All"? Put down the crack pipe, my friend.

    M.... ....

@BullToTheShit The band you grew up with UC is heroes are really zeros they stole all of their music their thieves they're not Legends their fakes they're not original they took all the music from other artists and used it and said it was their own music

    M.... ....

We heard you the first time.

    M.... ....

So Bach, Beethoven, Haydn, Brahms, they all ‚stole‘ from eachother, therefore they’re bad musicians/artists? That’s just the way music goes, how it it has always developed. You see influences from other musicians in every piece of music.

  66. T.... ....

Typical to take something the black man created and pass it off as your own

  67. n.... ....

    Small faces

  68. J.... R....

Can someone upload a mashup of this songs vocals with Howlin Wolfs Who’s Been talking’? To create a sort of early version of Whole Lotta Love

  69. m.... k....

One can actually love Muddy Waters without discussing Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones. HONEST !!

  70. S.... M....

The music is totally different, so they borrowed some lyrics?

  71. B.... L....

The musical line for the vocals is exactly the same on all three versions. That’s what was stolen.

  72. t.... ....

Can't believe he didn't credit Led Zeppelin for writing this song 7 years later

  73. N.... M....

    Muddy waters....my home boy.....Mississippi. ..

  74. K.... o....

    A whole lotta loooooooooooooooooooove

  75. J.... S....

    Muddy Waters: Amazing

    Led Zeppelin: Amazing

    Stop Arguing

    J.... S....

Muddy Waters is better. No one was arguing, besides Led Zepellin fans who have never heard of blues in their life.

    J.... S....

Not the point, point is they fowl

  76. l.... l....

No need to argue, whole lotta love is overrated and overplayed anyways

  77. a.... c....

blues is real music unlike that crap rock

  78. H.... T....

Idiots on here acting like led zeppelins music was the same as ice ice baby. Fuck outta here.

  79. A.... ....

Led Zepplin probably never heard this record, they lifted Whole Lotta Love from Steve Marriott's version obviously: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tp0jZ4BGuDw

  80. A.... S....

worst led zep cover i have ever heard

  81. 3.... P....

where is the Therimin Music Maker interlude.. this is just a blues record ? !

  82. N.... ....

    Did Led Zeppelin copy-cat this?

  83. a.... k....

    Jimmy Page like it

  84. d.... ....

Small Faces borrowed parts of this and Led Zep borrowed from SmallFaces

  85. R.... W....

    Led Zeppelin=rip off artists

  86. p.... ....

So....this is supposed to be the same as "whole lotta love"?. Lyrics are definitely the same in parts..(credit should be given), but the actual riff and groove.. No fekking way...

  87. k.... ....

Wow, other than the Blues 101 lyrics this song is very different from "Whole Lotta Love."

  88. V.... V....

anyone know the name of the Earl Hooker song used in the background ???

  89. P.... S....

This is a bull shit argument Sure the songs are similar, and sure maybe Zep did "rip it off" but there are so many artists that have borrowed/stole a sound, a riff, even the words in some cases. The so called King Of Rock and Roll, Elvis was a huge offender of this. The music industry is full of plagiarism. Almost a part of it's nature.

  90. j.... f....

Inspiration is free......not other peoples music.

  91. A.... ....

I just watched the movie "Cadillac Records" the 2008 film about Chess Records and their artists including Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon - the text at the end says that Willie was awarded $1million in the Led Zeppelin dispute.

  92. F.... M....

Zeppelin were shameless. Completely and utterly shameless. Make the money first and worry about the lawsuits later.

  93. n.... ....

Page's riff in "Whole Lotta Love" was written (sounds nothing like this song) and he played it for Jones, Bonham and Plant in the studio. Plant wrote (and sang) the lyrics listening to Page's ORIGINAL RIFF AND MUSIC. Plant stole the lyrics or better put sang them because he liked them and thought they sounded good with Pages' riff. Page had nothing to do with stealing anything here. Plant should have credited waters or changed the lyrics, but he liked muddy Water's and decided to sing them similar (to the WAY Muddy did) along with Page's music that already had been written. When Page played teh riff for the rest of the group, then Plant sang an alteration of Muddy's lyrics. He thought they sounded good over Page's famous guitar riff in whole lotta love. They should have co credited Waters, but again Page stole nothing. Plant admired Muddy and liked the way those lyrics (that we can hear in this - Muddy's song) sounded with Page' riff.

    n.... ....

That riff wasn't a Page original, it was already in "Hey Joe".

  94. e.... s....

This song is by Willie Dixon, recorded by Muddy Waters. I love how everyone here is talking shit on Zeppelin, crediting Waters, even though he didn't even write the song.

  95. P.... A....

John Lennon stole a lot less of Chuck Berry's You can't catch me for Come Together (a single line) and he had to pay up...the richer the pocket the tighter the arse (steal that line Jimmy!)

  96. m.... ....

    Led Zeppelin created the remixes

  97. D.... j....

nothing new under the sun,man has been playing the blues since the dawn of time,

  98. l.... ....

Led Zeppelin should have credited Willie Dixson for writing and the Small Faces for the inspiring their treatment of the song, especially Steve Marriot's original vocal style.

    l.... ....

Willie Dixon is credited on the album

    l.... ....

@pink sinker Originally? Or only after settling a lawsuit in 1985?

  99. R.... ....

boom boom john lee Hooker !!!

  100. D.... J....

I found it so sad and disrespectful for the founders of The Blues Music get swept under the rug and kicked to the curb during their prime, of their music careers! Elvis wasn't SHIT!!!! All that shit was called music wasn't shit, till it went over seas and was performed before Ledzeppland and others to be accepted!!!!! Yes! Ledzeppland stole their work, and taken it to anothet level along what they'd created also! But the point of the matter! None of this would've been here for the R&B!!! Rythm and Blues! Real Black music!!!!! Still a Ledzeppland fan no doubt, they made some dope shit of their own too as well!!!!!! RIP to the Legeng of The Blues! Without them we wouldn't have good music today!!!!

    D.... J....

Sir, Elvis was not shit.I respect your passion on the subject, but that is just flat out incorrect.

    D.... J....

Blues artists may have been disregarded for a time, but that's not Zeppelin's fault, or anyone's fault, really. It just happened. When Elvis, the Stones, Zeppelin, Clapton etc started re-purposing old blues tunes, the blues artists who created that music finally started making money. It's funny how people act like these white artists stole money out of their pockets - it's the other way around. These white artists PUT money in blues artists' pockets - money that the bluesmen never would have otherwise had. Trust me: if you were to ask Muddy Waters, Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf etc what they thought of Zeppelin et al, they love 'em. These white artists HONORED the black artists by doing their music. It was never their intent to "steal". It was the music they loved, so it was the music they played. And a lot of old bluesmen became pretty rich because of it.

    D.... J....

shoesheep I disagree. They didnt cover them. Covering entails giving them writing credits and they didnt do so. Now Page's guitar work was blistering, ingenius and original(within the cintext of electric blues),but it hangs under a black cloud
