W.A.S.P. - Mississippi Queen Lyrics
Mississippi queen, if you know what I mean
Mississippi queen, she taught me everything
Way down around Vicksburg, around Louisiana way
Where lived the Cajun lady, aboard the Mississippi Queen
You know she was a dancer, she moved better on wine
While the rest of them dudes were gettin' their kicks
Boy, I beg your pardon, I was gettin' mine
Mississippi queen, if you know what I mean
Mississippi queen, she taught me everything
This lady she asked me, if I would be her man
You know that I told her, I'd do what I can
To keep her lookin' pretty, buy her dresses that shine
While the rest of them dudes were makin' their friends
I was losin' my mind, on the Mississippi Queen
Mississippi queen, if you know what I mean
Mississippi queen, she taught me everything
Way down around Vicksburg, around Louisiana way
Where lived the Cajun lady, aboard the Mississippi Queen
You know she was a dancer. she moved better on wine
While the rest of them dudes were gettin' their kicks
Boy, I beg your pardon, I was gettin' mine
I was gettin' mine
I was gettin' mine
No, you can't have mine
No no, you can't have mine
To keep a Mississippi queen

All I can say is I hope they all find Jesus before they die
They actually DID find him. He was under the couch cushion the whole time
@cosmicSS yeah you won't be saying that when you die
Actually Blackie did find Jesus and the music he created to show his found faith is awesome!!
Check out his album Gothika!!
God Bless! And Rock on!
Good, but too straightforward. It lacks a certain swinging, rhythmic, syncopated boogie factor.
Rip of Mountain
Blackie's voice is great dirty
Hail from AustriA
Wait until you smell the Locomotive Breath 😈
wasp forever from Holland

OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHH
BRBR HUEEEEE ❤
OOOOOOOOOHHHH!
I remember reading a Circus magazine many years ago and it asked a question that I find very funny, and true. Who is a better metal band RATT or MOTLEY CRUE ? It's W.A.S.P. !!!
One of the best
nefty73, couldn't agree more on the production quality but I'll tell you what, having lived through the 80's in my twenties and 30's I wouldn't trade living in any other time period ever. Seeing so many iconic bands' all the hot women that now you never see and live shows like you did then, were all unforgettable times. I may be almost 60 now, I will always remain a die hard metalhead til the very end (metalhead was entered into Websters dictionary as an actual word in the English language during the 80"s, look it up). Rock On
You should be my grandpa!!!
I was a kid then and only later have I learned how important age that decade was. You deserve high-five for something. W.A.S.P. is great.
I just read the replies to my original post and I just had to say thank you guys. Lately, with all family except youngest bro (6 years younger than me) and myself have died in the last 3 years and I'm at that point where every one reaches eventually and you wonder if anything you did was worthwhile and will anyone remember you, and tho ur comments aren't life saving , they somehow instantly made me feel better about it all. Thanx more than you could know, and I'll take that grandpa job, (has no kids of my own). Rock on and God bless!
@Ferdinand Augustifson I'm really sorry for your Loss-. Stay strong and metal!! 🤘
@depper you are dog shit with no taste in music
better than the original
wish i sounded like blackie when i sang!..but sadly not even fckn' close!!
......\m/ O_o \m/....................Metal is the Law..............
Ugh. That horrid '80s production.
Good vox from Blackie, though.
for some reason their Paint it Black Stones cover is awesome though
I FORGOT ABOUT THIS ONE
TESTES..1'2'^^^THIS FONE IS FUCKED...'(?) BLACKIE KIX ASS4''"EVER!!!!
Blackie is fckng kick ass
Not impressed w/this cover... too fast. (just my opinion folks)
Now, their cover of The Who's "The Real Me"? That friggin' ROCKS!!!
blackie did a great job!God knows old leslie cant hit those high notes anymore vocally
Blackie man, call me
FN WOW.
not as good as Leslie West's original version but it is still okay.
what is helter skelter?
henk Jandirk Its a candy bar from Scandinavia.
henk Jandirk its a reference to Charles Manson, also a song by the Beatles and covet by guns and roses
It's also the title of a book written by Vincent Bugliosi who prosecuted Charlie Manson and the rest of his psycho crew in the Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969. Great book, read it!
@timhoover covered by Mötley Crüe
Helter skelter mutha fuckerrrrr
friggin' FUCKIN powerful voice!!!
wasp rock, but this is not one of ther better ones
What kind of kareoke bullshit crap is this!?
LESLIE WEST IS GOD. This version is DOG SHIT.
depper ........AMEN brother!!!
Nothing , I mean nothing can touch the original Mountain version!!!
Why the fuck is he mixing Helter Skelter shit in this song??!?
Bull shit
feel free to make one better
depper this is kickin ass!
happy birthday!
The music is karaokee but his vioce works being he already sounds like that fat ass.
Hail satan
Love Blackie's vocal style, just kills
I gained a whole new perspective
This version of Mississippi Queen is awesome!
I like Blackie but a little fast and lack of groove like the Mountain version.
TREMENDOUS solo, period. They knock this OUT of the ballpark.
BADASS. Blackie is king.
the band squared off all the groove in this song and forgot to tell the singer
Crazy as it is..this solo is ......RIDICULOUS. Congrats Smirnoff!
*must resist urge to create lightsabre in the like/dislike bar*
@FuriusJorge "Zakk Wylde"
Great version, Blackie did it his way but I still like Zach Wild's version, more true to the original feel.
@Roxanne488 sorry Rox but nobody plays this like Leslie West since the 70's that I've seen....granted this is nice but West sings with his guitar on this one!
@epcdave disagreed. it's metal. these guys made a career pissing in the face of conformity.
Never heard this verison fron wasp thanks for posting it .It kicks ass.
IamAnastasia checkout black stone cherry
the only thing missing in this is the life of the song aka funk. that's all.
where the f*** is video?
damn fine version~!
@thefugabans you are very welcome!
I can't beleive I fucking found this. Thanks for posting it!
@loknloll Whatever it's called ... it was meant as a compliment to a very enduring musician. I didn't mean to start an argument on semantics. I assumed because of the sawblades between the legs and the raw meat thrown into the audience ...
@margolou2010 king of thrash metal? WASP has nothing to do with thrash.
Different ... not the strong irresistible backbeat that Mountain has ... but Blackie is the king of thrash metal. So of course he can pull this off.
Long live Blackie
@rich655 Leslie is one of the first "metal" guitarists so of course he influenced a lot of people. Doesn't make him the best nor anything close. Where do you think West sits on the list of most guitar players though? Most say people like Clapton, Page, Blackmore, etc.... very rarely do you hear West and if you do it's WAY down the list. Oh and you're the furthest thing from an adult here. You're just a whining little fruitcake, keyboard quarterback that probably has no job and certainly no girl.
@rich655 And WASP is still touring and making records so what does that prove? It seems to me all you can do is run people down. It's obvious that Blackie was influenced by West and he did a cover which brought Mountain to an entire new audience and did it well. Now I don't play guitar myself but I do sing and have for more than 30 years now and believe me, Blackie's vocal abilities destroy Leslie's and that's fact whether you like it or not. Now go brush that tooth, loser!
@rich655 look loser, you obviously have anger issues. It's probably something to do with inbreeding in your family. Yeah that's right I checked out your profile and saw that overbite. You say I was hit with the moron stick and while that's subjective the ugly stick you were hit with isn't. I suggest you go back to your trailer and brush that tooth. Long Island hall of fame doesn't mean shit... he was born there moron. Many artists are acknowledged in their home towns.
@samhain1967 AND Mountain AND Leslie West are STILL touring!!!
Leslie is going out on tour with Michael Schenker and Uli John Roth (WHO BOTH CITED HIM AS AN INFLUENCE!!!) with only ONE LEG!!
Yeah....what's WASP doing.....bitch!!!!
@rich655 Did your mother drop you on your head? Were you an abused child? Your opinion doesn't mean shit. Mountain as a band wasn't anything special, not as musicians nor any other way. Where are they today? WASP is still around so that should tell you something about your opinions, dipshit!
@rich655 you must be high... blackie's voice is so much more vicious than leslie west's. I like Mountain's version but this one is so much heavier and that's due to the vocals.
@angerfist4 I agree 100% and have thought so since I first saw them open for Krokus on their first tour in 1984. Met them coming out of a Mexican restaurant before the show and they were nice enough to autograph an album. I called you little girl because your comment to me made you sound like a whining little bitch with a skinned knee. No call for it.
@angerfist4 Something bothering you little girl?
es mucho mejor la d moutain :| esta esta algo rara :S
wasp may not have done a good job on this cover of a great song, but they have 30 other songs that absolutely blow mountain out of the water !
if anyone noticed..why does lawless play bass then guitar...can we say chris holme is so drunk lawless has his tracks airbanded in live concerts..and when he falls down and solo still playing..lawless stops concert and throws out posters to the crowd..
anyone else agree
This is an abortion!!
This couldn't lick the feet of the original MOUNTAIN version!!!
I like WASP....but they miserable dropped the ball on this one!!
@PtolemyJones well Thanx for your Opinion...i dont know i was mostly listening to Dead Kennedys, Suicidal Tendencies Agent Orange CroMags Bad Brains Black Flag Balck Sabbath Motorhead and that such back then and i will say outta Motley Crue,Poison,Ratt,Warrant, Dokken, White Lion and L.A. Guns These guys were cool. Animal (Fuck Like a Beast) rember that song.i dont know that ERA with al the make-up and spandex.....wasn't very manly however i do like Blackie Lawless
@OrijinalDawg Yes, they dress like women, and I doubt it's an accident. I'll bet you think they look hot, too. If you will read my post (or have your handler read it to you) you will see I wasn't comparing Ministry to WASP. I would never insult Ministry that way. I was simply saying that to people who are looking for good covers of this song, theirs was a really good one. As opposed to this pile of suckage.
@PtolemyJones Queens?? this is W.A.S.P. not Skid Row,Motley Crue,Poison or any other Glam Band.as far as ministry goes thats like comparing Motorhead and Bob Dylan two totally different styles and genre's.W.A.S.P. queens you should be kicked in the nuts 2x a day for a month just for thinking that let alone saying it
So in this version, when they singing about queens, they mean themselves, right? So ghey, and a really dead-lame cover of a great song. Check out Ministry's cover for a kick-arse version though... Oh, and more cowbell.
Wasposers
@Warcraft20101 do bands cover stuff from the 90s? I haven't heard it *that* much. noone wants to touch that shit with a bargepole (-;
@brkdwnxx
Agreed.
@LORDGOAT1976 Fuck that...let's hear em PLAY it! That bas line is a BITCH!!!
why do 80s rock bands have to cover EVERYTHING?
Not bad, but you notice the lack of soul!
Oh it's got soul. Just metal soul. if you don't get that then that's too bad. Like Slayers version of Ina Gadda Da Vida
DAMN!! I had forgotten about wasp!
@brennan66693
it's supposed to be? different, eh?
I got a fever and there is only one cure...More cowbell!!!
wayyyyyyyyy to fast
The last line when Blackie Lawless says:"Man that one note is A FUCKING BITCH",is a real riot!!!! We can dedicate that line to Kayla Narey,Flannery Mullins,Ashley Longe, and Sharon Chanon Velasquez..... and all of the SOUTH HADLEY SCUM!!!!
@HonRevPTB lol is that suppose to make me feel bad? or insulted? haha well my good man your going to have to try harder than that.
one of the better cover versions of MQ.
First concert that I went to Kiss/Wasp! I got hooked on metal afrter that!
dang they're playing half a step up!
Jesus I guess you can't get this on CD anymore. A pain in the ASS, can't find the EP for Mama's Boys on CD either. I understand it's a money thing, but fucking hell, take a chance and put a few CD's out there.
An amzing solo from WASP.
@GeneDunno no....
not bad.....not great, but not bad
I personally think this is the BEST cover of this song. Blackie's voice, Chris Holmes on lead & even the drums & bass are tight & just flat out fuckin' R-O-C-K-S! Man when I hear this song I want to go out & punch someone in the face! Hah!
@Sunburnt99 dude its not suppose 2 sound exact dead perfect ...different bands have different ways of covering songs
Probably the best cover of this song i've heard! Ozzy's one, sorry but ...sucks...
