Washington, Dinah - For All We Know Lyrics
For all we know
We may never meet again
Before you go
Make this moment sweet again
Until the last minute
I'll hold out my hand
And my heart will be in it
For all we know
This may only be a dream
We come and we go
Like the ripple on a stream
So love me, love me tonight
Tomorrow may never come
For all we know, we know
So love me, love me tonight
Tomorrow was made for some
Tomorrow may never come
For all we know, we know

I can see why she was one of Patti Labelle greatest influences, although she asked her to stop singing her songs...LOL!

Magnifique
what a soothing and sound. followed up by caressed instruments
Until I heard Dinah Washington sing "For All We Know," I had never thought of it as a "funeral song." But it is ------ a bitter-sweet, almost romantic Goodbye. "So love me tonight, Tomorrow was made for some, Tomorrow may never come, For all we know."
Ahhhhhh!!! The music👍👍👍
Beautiful...love songs of that era pack elements of such innocence & sweetness....lovely
The very best is right here folks!
when you think you have heard it all......listen to dinah washington
Great version...Nat ( back in his trio days) had a silky, smooth version, too.
Impossible not to like and love all those wonderful ladies of Jazz. Thank you
On this day in 1962 {September 5th} Dinah Washington performed her covered version of the 1934 song "For All We Know" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV weekday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'...
A little over two weeks earlier on August 19th, 1962 the song entered Billboard's Top 100 at position #88, that would also it's peak position on the chart, for it's second and last charted week it was at #97...
Between 1944 and 1961 the 'Queen of the Blues' had forty-seven records on the R&B Singles chart, an amazing thirty-five made the Top 10 with five reaching #1*, "Am I Asking Too Much" for 1 week in 1948, "Baby Get Lost" for 2 weeks in 1949, "Baby, You Got What It Takes", with Brook Benton, for 10 weeks in 1960, "A Rockin' Good Way", with Brook Benton, for 4 non-consecutive weeks for 1960, and "This Bitter End" for 1 week in 1960...
Sadly, Dinah Washington, born Ruth Lee Jones, passed away at the young age of 39 on December 14th, 1963...
* She just missed having a sixth #1 record when her "It's Too Soon To Know" peaked at #2 in 1948...
She is a legend. Her voice is so very beautiful. I love her. So sorry she left us too soon. She is magical. I cannot say enough good things about her. RIP

How do you reply to this song & Dinah Just wonderful
I never knew she sang this originally. I've only heard Donny Hathaway's version. Love hers too; very sweet and very 50esque. The big band gives it a lush sound.
She wows me! Her voice is satin with a few rough patches that give her the wow factor!
Like velvet !
WISH WE COULD FORM MULTIPLE FORMAL COMPLAINTS TO TRY & HAVE A CHANCE TO ENJOY YOU TUBE AGAIN! BEING BOMBARDED WITH ADS EVERY FEW SECONDS DROWNING OUT THE MUSIC IS SUCH HORRIBLE EXECUTIVE DESCISION !
