Warwick, Dionne - Who Is Gonna Love Me Lyrics

Who is gonna love me? Not you
You will be gone
And here I'll stay, all alone and
I'll just waste away
Wondering who is gonna hold me
And keep me warm when I'm cold
Who will I wake up for
Through all those lonely years?
No one to wake up for but
Sleep won't come to end these tears

And who is gonna kiss me if you
Walk out the door?
There'll be no one new: not for me
'Cause my whole life, is you
Darling, if you don’t wanna love me
There's just no use hanging on
For without your love
Everything is wrong

Oh, but sleep won't come to end these tears
And who is gonna kiss me if you
Walk out the door?
There'll be no one new, not for me 'cause
My whole life is you
Darling, if you don't wanna love me
There's just no use in hangin' on
For without your love
Everything is wrong
For me

  10. T.... D....

Another Classic from one of the Greatest Voices in Musical History !!!

  11. f.... m....

An All tyme Fav From Ms. Warwick!!

  12. G.... M....

Great song I've never heard b4. I just heard Burt was a terrible father to his daughter Nikki who committed suicide. She left him a note he's afraid to read. Sounds like Angie was on her own.
Very disappointing to hear cause I love his music so much.

  13. d.... l....

Não me canso de ouvir , muito linda

  14. d.... p....

I've never heard this song before, but after the first couple of lyrics, I felt tears welling up because it so beautifully captures the sadness of a lost love that almost all of us can relate to...

  15. b.... ....

There  is no one like Dionne Warwick and  Hal David and Burt Bacharach.  I  have not heard this song in years.  It is one of their best.

  16. A.... ....

Love this song., I have amost Bur Bacharachs songs but thisone I didn't knew it !! I discovered it past year and I don get tired to listen it :-) BTW which year is this song?

  17. s.... ....

Starting at 0:30, listen to how Dionne tackles the rising crescendo (series of musical notes going higher), not many singers can make it. I bet Dionne was ready to pass out, but other singers wouldn't even attempt this song cuz they ain't got the goods.

  18. s.... ....

People listening to this song don't realize how light and flexible Dionne's voice was back in the day. Most just know her from songs like Heartbreaker or That's What Friends Are For. Burt commented most of the songs given to Dionne are ones most singers won't touch bc of its difficulty and vocal technique. Dionne really let those cigarettes destroy her voice !

  19. s.... ....

With all the musicals on Broadway about great musical acts from the Sixties, they obviously should bring the story of Bacharach, David and Warwick and make it into a musical. What a show that would be! How the trio got their start in New York in the early '60s and how they progressed to being the music team they became. The story and the music would be breathtaking! This premise is very do-able Com'on Burt and Dionne, let's get the ball rolling !

    s.... ....

What's commotion all about, please, asking for you consideration.

    s.... ....

Only problem is it would be so difficult listening to another singer doing Dionnes songs

  20. s.... ....

A song that gets better with each listen. The genius of Bacharach and David's words/melodies, and of course Dionne their perfect muse. A beautiful piece! I can't picture any other singer besides Dionne doing justice to this song. Shoulda been a hit.

  21. b.... ....

Dionne classics are timeless gems to be enjoyed over and over for all time...never again will music like this happen

RAINY NIGHTS THINKING OF THAT FINE MOMMA YOU WANNA BE WITH😍😲

  31. R.... B....

THE BRONX ON A RAINY NIGHT THINKING ABOUT A CHICK YOU DIG!!!

  32. s.... ....

Always loved this song. Even as a kid long before I fully understood the lyric. Now it just shimmers with musical and contextual brilliance. Wow. What an era of incredible music. So glad I got to experience it.

  33. D.... ....

Just discovered this after being a 50-year Dionne fan. Surprised!

  34. f.... m....

loved this song since i was a child! thanks Dionne!!

  35. V.... C....

    another beautiful song. wondering who....?

  36. t.... d....

The fact that this is rarely if ever performed makes me wonder if Warwick or Bacharach ever realized its beauty. (I am not a completist so I don't know if there are live versions around).

    t.... d....

It is a beautiful song but from what I understand it flopped so with all the hits she had there was no real reason to perform it live or ever again I guess

    t.... d....

If so, Warwick herself probably didn't realize the beauty of the song because if you believe in a song (and a song so easy to believe in  as this one) you perform it until the crowds get into it.

    t.... d....

@tricky dick Good point but she probably had so many others to perform that ppl did know that to perform this one took away from the hits however we get to enjoy the song thanks to you tube & hear it in its original version as opposed to hearing poor Dionne straining to sing it now i mean i love her but come on its over

    t.... d....

You're right, I wouldn't care to listen to her singin' it now. But she could have done it in the '70's and '80's. Something must be done to popularize this song.

  37. d.... l....

One of the most beautiful songs that Dionne, Burt and Hal ever did.

  38. T.... N....

one may always choose to walk from this dreamworld with Jesus and forget about loving what does not exist

  39. T.... N....

    .....well....who is gonna love me?

  40. L.... E....

    Fantástica, maravilhosa!!!

  41. L.... ....

    L.... ....

could anyone see the tracks of your tears?

  42. N.... F....

You all are marveling over their talents, skills, creativity, and uniqueness. When I first heard Dionne Warwick back in the beginning of her career. I observed how different she was from everybody else. I realized she was ethereal in her delivery other worldly. As Bacharach has stated she could be ever so light and delicate. But she also had the power in her vocal abilities. Also she had great voice control. And she did it so effortlessly. Dionne was always a guest on the tv variety shows. She was so in demand. Her standards to this day are still played in the malls, grocery stores, elevators, doctors offices etc... Many of her recordings should have been mega hits and probably was. Many artists were cheated. Dionne spoke this being the case. This woman has sold far more recordings; than what they are saying. Again her music was always being played everywhere. For decades. Dionne Warwick should have far more grammy awards than 5. She should have been, honored with a Kennedy Center award. She should have been honored with a rock n roll hall of fame award, a long time ago. Her music is timeless. It has staying power. And her music from the 60s and early 70s still sounds fresh. Alfie and Valley Of The Dolls, The April Fools and many more; from the 1960s sound like they were just recorded. Truly timeless!

  48. B.... S....

What can you say???. Dionne Warwick + Bacharach/David = musical magic: unparallelled singing, songwriting & musical arrangements!!!!

    B.... S....

Have you heard Ron Isley's album collab with Bacherach and also Elvis Costello's collab with him ???? A must hear!!

  49. s.... ....

This was the missing song. The song I heard on a radio around 1972 on a drive to Carmel. I thought it was the best thing I heard her do. And only a couple of days ago this March 2015 did I find it...not knowing for sure which song to look for... Lovely.

    s.... ....

What a great recounting, I love when these never-forgotten "missing songs" come to find us, years or decades later. Blessings to you.

  69. M.... P....

1969 was a good year for under-discovered Bacharach/David songs recorded by Dionne Warwick -- it was the same year she recorded the great single "Odds and Ends."

  70. T.... A....

Thank you for posting this song. I love it!! It brings back so many memories!!!

  71. d.... ....

The title is actually "Who is Gonna Love Me", but if you published it under it's true title, YouTube would likely take it down. One of her best and most haunting recordings, with David's lyrics contributing to that more than usual, and I don't think she ever sang this song regularly in concert.
