Warwick, Dionne - Old Landmark Lyrics

well Let us all all go back
back to the old old landmark
Let us all all go back
back to the old old landmark
well Let us all all go back
back to the old old landmark
well we'll stay in the service of the Lord
Let us all all go back
back to the old old landmark
Let us all all go back
back to the old old landmark
well Let us all all go back
back to the old old landmark
well we'll stay in the service of the Lord
Well let us kneel kneel and pray
now in the old old time way
Let us kneel kneel and pray
now in the old old time way
come on Let us kneel kneel and pray
kneel in the old old time way
and He will hear us and be near us
We'll be given bread from heaven
and He will feed us until we want no more
preach preach the word preach the word
in the old old time way
preach the word
preach the word in the old old time way
preach preach the word
preach the word in the old old time way
And Tell the story of His glory
it will warn me it will turn me
it will save this world from sin and shame
Let us blend blend our voices
in the old old time way
come on Let us blend blend our voices
in the old old time way
blend our voices
blend our voices in the old old time way
well Come on meter so much sweeter
When you stop singing they'll keep ringing
they will be lingering way down in my soul
Let's go down down to the river
in the old old time way
Let's go down down to the river
in the old old time way
Let's go down down to the river
in the old old time way
and Sons and daughters there in water
coming on shouting nobody doubting
will be happy in the service of the Lord
oh...
Let's all all go back
back to the old old landmark
oh Let us all all go back
back to the old old landmark
well Let us all all go back
back to the old old landmark
well He will hear us and be near us
We'll be given bread from heaven
Tell the story of His glory
it will it will warn me turn me
Come on meter so much sweeter
When you stop singing
they'll keep ringing
Sons and daughters
there in water coming on shouting
coming on doubting
and will be happy
in the service of the Lord
oh...
and he will hear us and be near us
We'll be given bread from heaven
Tell the story of His glory
it will warn me
it will turn me
yeah Come on meter so much sweeter
When you stop singing they'll keep ringing
Sons and daughters there in water
coming on shouting
coming on doubting
coming on shouting
coming on doubting
coming on shouting
coming on doubting
and will be happy
happy happy
happy happy
happy happy
happy happy
happy happy
happy happy
happy happy
will be shouting
happy
shouting shouting

Warwick, Dionne Old Landmark Comments
  1. N.... E....

Do I dare say Dionne had a better voice then whitney?

  2. C.... D....

Yeah this version just has something that Aretha's doesn't. Granted it's older, but Dionne is generous and restrained allowing you to hear the background singers. Honestly, just more singable and simply sung with a swaggerful delivery. Yas Dionne!

    C.... D....

Clara Ward & the Ward Singers made this song famous. They've recorded it a few times and had more words in their rendition, but you're right! There's something about Dionne's version.

    C.... D....

Rowoches I’m floored Dionne recorded this! You can hear she was influenced by The Clara Ward Singers’ arrangement 😩❤️

  3. G.... O....

I like Aretha Franklin version of landmark but this is good too

  4. J.... V....

    The Blues Brothers

  5. M.... L....

    Ok🤔💖💖

  6. B.... J....

dionne should have been doing gospel

  7. A.... L....

this family is very talented! Dionne sounds like her mom and cissy aswell

  8. K.... C....

Whitney ain’t none of Cousin Dionne and Mama Cissy back in the day, vocally!

    K.... C....

Kiki Cofer: Knock it off before you get the bizness!

  9. A.... F....

one of the best versions of this song I have eve heard! Fantastic!!

  10. S.... W....

Tessitura on this vintage gospel classic is stratospheric. A young Dionne rips into this gem like it's a walk in the park. Electrifying.

  11. A.... L....

    yessss sang it

  12. W.... W....

I think this one of her best performances...... ever!!!!

  13. t.... ....

    Arranged by Ms Cissy Houston.

  14. M.... ....

Dionne was truly at home with her mom and aunts behind her! An agile, squeaky churched toned soprano, bouncing all over this song with solid backgrounds! A real gem in her catalogue.

  15. O.... B....

i love this as i research nore family history learning that Dionne's grandmother and my grandmother were sisters..it gives me pleasures to  listen to this

    O.... B....

Cool that makes you very close relations---second cousins. Was she sisters with her father's side or mother's side?

  16. j.... ....

Dionne's range was Amazing/out of this world.

    j.... ....

    Her pitch was perfect, too.

  17. E.... ....

Thanks for the upload Dwayne, great song . Dionne had more than just range she had the gospel. I remember this song from I was young and it has alwayed stayed with me, happy lord for sure.

  18. R.... ....

    Yeah, she did!

  19. C.... I....

    DIONNE USED TO HAVE RANGE!!!!

  20. D.... ....

Whitney came from some good stock. Peace and blessings to her entire family during this most difficult time.

  21. e.... ....

    she drove it boi

  22. M.... ....

This is a mighty good rendition.

  23. j.... ....

can you post some more of her songs from her gospel album?

  24. R.... L....

    Nice....

  25. m.... ....

i've listened to different versions of this song - aretha's, clara's, j. brown's - hundreds of times, but there are still some verses of the song i can't quite follow all the way. are there any lyrics posted somewhere?

  26. R.... ....

@ElderPinkerton: This is from her Gospel album which was done in the 1960's. She's backed by the Drinkard Singers.

Also, within the last couple of years, she has done a Gospel album. I've seen it at a few stores, including FYE and WalMart.

  27. E.... ....

Man! Dionne is no joke but this is crazy! I would love to hear her do a Gospel album.

    E.... ....

That album is called "The Magic of Believing."

  28. t.... ....

now whitney looks like her!, but arent they related!!

  29. C.... I....
