He did not suffer fools, nor did he tolerate mediocrity where it impacted him directly. Because he himself NEVER compromised, he couldn't fathom it in others. BEFORE you brand him as "Difficult", TRY to put yourself inside the Incomparable Mind which composed "Desperadoes Under The Eaves". YOU make an AIR CONDITIONER sing such a beautiful Paen of Praise for that loner staring into his empty coffee cup. THAT was WARREN sitting there, FOR REAL, people! The Man who could whisper his own failings and weaknesses, NOT down a well at High Noon, as the ancient cure for one's troubles recommends, but into an empty coffee cup. Was Warren EASY to know? Probably not, if you were blessed to be among those he called "Friend". But GOD!! It would have been WORTH the price! Worth ANY price, because, as his Friend, you would know what it is like to fly too close to the Sun.

I don't call Warren a genius because that's become an overused word on people undeserving even though he really is a true genius but I call him" Gifted" because I believe in God so did Warren and made his peace with Jesus I believe true gifts come from God and not only was he gifted to be able to take the pain and anguish of his soul which he used scathing wit to deal with it to keep from completely cracking up but it didn't shield him from the hell he endured but helped him recover many times and he not only had a gift to translate that ito song and music but he had another gift to perform It and put it in recording that we are richer for,ive been a singer songwriter and studio musician for 36 years with Warner Bros and I had the distinct pleasure of knowing the great talent and human being I think of him daily his atmosphere and music continue to guide me.Thank you Warren for leaving the treasure that we now enjoy.

But a joyful soul,as well. If anyone ever had more fun with all his life - including the painful parts - well, I've never heard or read about it. WZ was and is an inspiration to us all to enjoy every damn sandwich - live and love at full throttle every day you get.
