War - That's What Love Will Do Lyrics

I walk alone, alone alone alone
Feeling sad and so blue
Wondering if you love me, or do I love you
Oh yeah, yeah

That's what love will do
That's what love will do

On a rainy day, a day in May
You can hear me say
I lost a good, a good good love
Now she's gone away
Oh yeah, yeah

That's what love will do
That's what love will do

It's just a game a foolish game
That we all have to play
We have to try and get a little stronger, Lord knows we do
With each and every day

Well that's what love will do

That's what love will do

It happens 24 hours of the day time

The first time my friend put this record on and this song came on it as otherworldly and surreal for me. It absolutely stunning. I made him spin it back and play it again and again.

The OriGinal artists of WAR at facebook.com/LowriderBand are multi-platinum/gold recording artists, three time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominees, and were the last band to jam with Jimi Hendrix, but they are still not in the R&RHoF, while those who SAMPLE and cover WAR's originality are getting inducted before WAR; The Beastie Boys, NWA, 2Pac, Janet Jackson, and others. Time is 'Slippin' Into Darkness' for the five surviving artists of WAR to be inducted in person. Declare #WARforRockHallofFame at facebook.com/rockandrollhalloffame, and let's get WAR inducted!

    A.... E....

Andrea Pantoja that which does not kill us only makes us stronger I used to not believe that so I truly know and appreciate what you are feeling 15 years ago my ex wife whom was my whole life came home and said she was not in love anymore and wanted out of our marriage I was devastated felt like my life was over but day by day it started getting better before I even knew it was happening I have been in recovery for 24 years you have no idea how bad I wanted to drink after that but I didn't and know I can actually be around her and not want to drown in sorrows we have 9 grandkids and my son has not even started with his yet lol (he's 15) but I ramble just keep your head up because when your head is clear it's easy to make a good decision (not mine got it from a Chaka khan song)

  44. M.... ....

What do you mean by not radio friendly?

    M.... ....

Radio likes songs in 3-minute lengths.  Anything over that cuts into their format, and commercials, of course...

  45. D.... W....

....no mood enhancers needed with this song...just sit back and enjoy it raw....the music and lyrics will do the rest!

    D.... W....

This is what real musicians sound like.... Posers, take note...

  46. C.... B....

Its amazing what can love will do for the lost souls of our times. If, we let our hope and trust for each other come together to bring the most beautiful expression of good caring and loving people; caring and respecting ones space and deepest of being apart of each other life. Knowing we really care for one another life......

    C.... B....

If we had musicians and such soulful singers like these today the kids would not be in the streets killing one another, they'd be at a house party grinding to tunes like this. Oh and that sax solo is so very sexy.

  47. M.... G....

Man, I just got a musical shower hearing this one again. Probably played it on the FM up to 50 times at stations that were resistant to such a treatment. Great stuff.

  48. J.... R....

    Another heavy cut from WAR

  60. B.... B....

Wow, taking me back, thank you sharing, another great song form WAR. Jazz rock fusion from the 70's.

  61. t.... ....

fuck the rock and roll hall of fame, it's completely worthless. oh yeah, fuck you jerry goldstein

  62. C.... N....

If War is not in the R&RHOF it's a sham!

    C.... N....

    I'm with you.

    C.... N....

The RRHOF is a popularity contest. It doesn't exist to recognize true creativity. People like us waiting for War or let's say Tower of Power or Cold Blood to be inducted would require several lifetimes.

For example---if you were to ask people right now to name a tune by War---they would say "Lowrider" & that's it!!! It took from '69 to '75 to garner a cross over hit---that says it all!!!

    C.... N....

    Sho u right Carolina!!

  63. r.... ....

They don't make them like this anymore

  64. L.... B....

    In A War Mood....

  65. D.... S....

I heard this group perform in San Bernardino, California a few years ago and it was amazing how they still sound the same as in 1971. The audience was great also dressing in old school clothing.

  66. T.... ....

1973 Reggie's Jazz Lounge, Worchester, Mass.  The Nth Degree Band brought the house down with this song.

  67. l.... ....

WAR is a nominee for the 2015 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They created timeless music out of soul, funk, r&b, reggae, jazz, blues, and rock & roll. If any band truly deserves to be inducted into the R&RHOF, it's WAR. Please vote and share for WAR at http://rockhall.com/voting/2015-rock-hall-nominees-fan-vote/ and let's get them in, WAR fans! Peace.

    l.... ....

It's about time! I wish I had known in time to cast a vote!!

    l.... ....

Nominations go out for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame sometime in September. Until then, let's do our best to put it out there that we want WAR nominated again and actually inducted in 2016. Deliver the Word!

    l.... ....

+lowriderbandfan War is under appreciated and will not ever make it into the R&R hall of fame. It's a somewhat worthless award anyway. Pop rock, radio jams, and already recognized music is what makes it into the hall of fame. In my opinion, it recognizes financial success more so than contributions to the world of music. I usually enjoy under-appreciated music more. Like with classical music, the songs are longer and you have to pay attention to the whole thing (Zappa, GD, War, Roy Buchannan) instead of catchy little ditties (like the ones that land people spots in the hall of fame.) As far as for the bands who still play shows today, that just means more elbow room for me!

  68. T.... ....

I remember the cover, but I don't recall whether I had this on vinyl.... Music... is what we like to play... all day..... YES!

  69. K.... C....

Black in my get high weed days (70s) we used to put the album on and just let it go...therefore we knew the WHOLE album and got a good "feel" of the artists and the thoughts they were putting out so we got the "musical concept".

    K.... C....

    Brian Davis Satan 3

    K.... C....

    Kenneth Craddock we

    K.... C....

Alfonso Gomez. yea yes. heavy bro

    K.... C....

this song was always the jammm love all wars music lotus blossom where was you at but this the jammmm

    K.... C....

to this day they are sharp even the younger folks like them

  70. K.... C....

BB Dickerson kills it again with his marvelous soothing voice then Lonnie Jordan, these guys don't get the credit they deserve with their laid back california style, harmonies by background are great.

  71. S.... B....

When Steve Gold picks the name WAR  (he is dead like bin laden)   might be a sign of things to come...

  72. S.... B....

they perform as 2 different bands.    Stolen name. Sad

    S.... B....

Susan Buckner wth all this mumbo jumbo your lingering on about

  73. A.... C....

  74. G.... M....

without a doubt this is the most underrated song that War has ever made. A true classic to all of War fans. Actually I think this is the best album War made. All Day Music, Slippen Into Darkness, Baby Brother, Get Down, Nappy Head, There Must be a reason. Man this album was loaded

    G.... M....

The World is Ghetto was a great album too. This one and that one are all time favorite.

    G.... M....

Who was lead singer on That’s what love..? Anybody know? I agree it’s an underrated classic.

  75. d.... ....

Yep, saw WAR back in the 70's.  Saw a LOT of concerts back in the 70's.  I was always broke.  Don't ask me how, but I somehow I knew music like this wasn't going to last.  Ticket prices were around $15.00 (the cost of three or four albums).  $200.00 to $300.00 to see Lady Gaga?? :O

    d.... ....

Yeah...back then concerts were cheap & you still couldn't afford to go to them all....

  76. t.... ....

back in the day you would hear a song like this on what was album oriented radio. war got much airplay.

  77. G.... L....
