War - Beetles In The Bog Lyrics

When the sun goes down
With the one you love
Out in the sky
Beetles in the bog

If the tide is high
Let the spirit fly
Out of the sky
Beetles in the bog

Me and a friend of mine from the band in college used to play this song in the gym and outdoors. He played alto sax and I played the bass line on baritone sax.

  5. R.... R....

    This song before Tusk

  6. D.... ....

Such a unique rhythm. War had some of THE most original grooves in the business.

one of my favorite sun going down songs to listen to on a warm spring or summer breeze day with a nice cold one and good grilling going on as well

Remembered this song from my college days but couldn't find it it was an anthem to me. After all this time (I'm 65 now) I feel musically & spiritually complete.

I know!!! I used to listen to this on an 8-track of misc music in 74 when I was knee high, always KNEW it was War over the years, but couldn't find the title... own almost every War album and of course went through them all - but just figuring out now that this song was on this album the whole time. This is NOT the first time this has happened either - it drives you crazy for literally decades only to discover you had it the whole time. LOL I'm not positive; but, I think there's still one more War song on that 8-track I never identified... or maybe it's Santana? I wonder If I'll ever figure it out.

  16. S.... ....

yeah, tusk (as much as I like it) is a rip off.

    S.... ....

Fleetwood Mack was not around when this came out!

  17. D.... K....

Sounds similar to Tusk by Fleetwood Mac.

    D.... K....

You're right.  WAR should sue then because this came out at least 10 years earlier.

    D.... K....

@Edgar Wiley - Naw, Buckingham was merely pulling some textures from an obviously underappreciated band and tune. They (generally speaking) all do it. "Tusk" was his experimentation album and he was channeling his inner Clash, too. Even "Second Hand News" has similities to "Jive Talking" by the Bee Gees :)

    D.... K....

You do not "channel" inner Clash. You have it or you don't. Joe Strummer wanted me to tell you that........

  18. i.... ....

    THis REAL music

  19. d.... ....

Yikes!!! Whenever you read a comment like the one by "yfernandez5475" you can almost sense that certain something on the "down low".

  20. G.... B....

  21. L.... P....

When BB starts going off..."higher, higher!"...that just seals it. Love this song.

  22. J.... N....

War is one of the 1970s" b(igg)est known" secrets.
