Another thing is that Wanda Jackson's roots were in Oklahoma, " Indian Territory ". Elvis was from Tupelo,Mississippi or the 'Deep South'. So Rockabilly and Rock'n'Roll differ in the part of the country it came originated.

I believe Rockabilly and Rock 'n' Roll are born twin style's. The difference is the first comes from 'white' "Hillbilly" & "Country" music. The second comes from 'black' "R&B" & "Church" music. They both emerged in the mid-50's. Wanda Jackson, Jerry Lee Lewis, the "Crickets" are Rockabilly. Elvis, Carl Perkins, and Janis Martin are Rock & Roll.

Rock'n and roll was basically a marketing ploy by record producer Sam Philips. Sexually suggestive rythmic music aimed at white middle-class teenagers.

Wanda Jackson was a competitor with Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis. Here Rockabilly style is just as good as the men, and her looks are just as enticing too. But she never made it big nationally or internationally like the men because there was more money in selling Elvis and JerryLee to female audiences than Wanda to a male audience. But Wanda Jackson still rocks as of 2018. Glad I found out about her after 60+ years!

Agree, the women is very very honest, pure country rock in the purest sense, she has NO problems mixing very hard rock whit her basic religious beliefs, nice to see someone that has a positive view of humanity.
