Boy I was just 15 in 1977 when this song/album was released. Now 11/29/2019, 42 years later this gospel some is still very much a classic, one that continues to bring some of us to tears.

I am almost 60 years old and the Influence has only deepened. Tramaine's voice is just perfection. I really dislike what's being called gospel music these days. This is true gospel music & anyone who knows the Lord for real knows the difference.

I might sound like a hypocrite for saying this, but I listen to many types of music, old gospel, rock, even newer mumble rap, and I agree, new age gospel rap doesn't translate well to me. A lot of the sounds (adlibs, background vocals, "Wooos", etc) in current rap mimic a drug induced vibe. To hear that same drug induced vibe combined w/ Christian themes feels somewhat.. off. I guess ppl got to get the message some way but still... it sounds off to me.

It's the anointing on true Holy Ghost filled Christian gospel artists that touches your Spirit when they sing. It's easy to tell when people don't have it.

Still brings tears to my eyes. Not wanting to waste another second on folly within the Body Christ...knowing this could only written and executed with conviction as a matter of priority of task at hand for believers, and beckoning us to be about our Father's business. We are to share Christ with a hurting, dying world that we have been charged to go ye therefore. While this is a great song, sung by some of the greatest singers on the planet, it means nothing if the GREAT commission is not fulfilled because its importance and relevance is only reached as we reach everyone we see, and say, Jesus Christ is the Way!

Back in the 60's pray was in school and everything said the Lord Pray. Life was better than cause we had backbone parent that prayed and stayed together to raise your children.

From a time when Gospel music was about the great Biblical truths/theology yet made understandable to the person in the pews or listening to the radio/record.  Today so much Gospel music seems to be about singing about me getting my stuff back, it's my time, etc.  No more Going up Yonder, or Changed, or Holy One, etc.

I love the heart felt Gospels of the late 70s and 80s. Even when they brought in more instrumentation, they told the story and meaning of the true Gospel. Jesus Christ IS the Way!

It seems like God has a plan to touch the nations by using the most reproached stone builder rejects to usher in his Holy spirit outpouring, 1st Pentecost with Christ;s 12 Jewish disciples in the Upper room. 2ndly 1906 Asuza St revival started by African American William Seymour. Now the next outpouring I feel may be ushered in b y God using the Hispanic church. That is why satan is fighting so hard to keep Latinos out of the US. Eg look at the mighty miracles Evangelist Carlos Anacondia is performing by the anointed power of God Almighty!....... cancer, paralysis, blind eyes open healings and more hes Argentine!. There are other Latino powerful Evangelists and prophets God is raising up in this end time and satan is shaking in his boots spreading lies that the border needs to be closed because of this and that. satan is so stupid he dont realize that Gods Evangelists enters the country inspected by Customs and Immigration, yet there maybe hundreds of christians that enter the s border fleeing persecution and God expects America to protect them, its what Jesus would do. Not slam the door in their face, but care for them, theyre our brothers and sisters, and some of them have the gospel of Jesus Christ deeply seated in their loins and will bring salvation, healing and deliverance to America, the blessed nation that need not take life nor freedom for granted, for today its them in need of help, love and care, tomorrow it maybe all those racists who donot want anybody in the country unless they are blond haired, blue eyes and speak only English. Hey Brandon, just a heads up Shirley Miller wasn't actually on this album.  She was later included because of the amount of songs she led written by Edwin for the "Edwin Hawkins Singers" which also featured Lynette, cousin Jeannie King, Daniel, and also on occasion you'd hear Tramaine and Walter in the background.  

I think they really just decided to lump the Hawkins Family with the Edwin Hawkins singers (that is after the famous choir that sang OH Happy Day led by then Dorothy Morrison turned more into an ensemble) made up of mostly family anyway.
