Walsh, Joe - Birdcall Morning Lyrics
Early birdcall morning
In a milkweed cloudy sky
Sets me free, without a warning
Wonder why
And if I'm too blind to see
Would you show me birdcall morning
Set me free
And if you don't want to
I do, you know I do
Sing the song, sing along
It don't matter if you know the tune
That's the way it goes
Comin' in, she comes again
She breaks ice, but she don't fall through
To the birdcall morning
And then the storm is upon me
And my ship is blown to sea
Would you show me birdcall morning?
Set me free, set me free

I'm a Joe Walsh addict, ever since the Gang..
Yo. Since 'Yer Album'.
Still here
Love this album <3
A monument,forever
This is one of the most underrated albums ever. It was not a commercial success but sometimes that is a good thing. Only true fans of Joe understand.
Echolight Studio and poop in the trees
Yes indeed. I wore it out in '73. "She breaks ice but she don't fall through." One of the best lyrical lines ever.
motorcityquig
Indeed. This is the most introspective lp he did and, I agree with you, his masterpiece.
i just discovered this great album so many great lost albums over the last 50 yrs
Even a french guy understand that and could say the same. I had this vinyl but uf I lost int in 85, I stil am sad of it.
A beautiful song. One of Joe's best, IMO, from what's probably also my favorite album from him.
when my ship is blown to sea... dude
dude......indeed.
"Sing the song, sing along. It don't matter if you know the tune"
Every song on this album is worth a single..Like Big Star.Joe's the biggest 'Eagle' Henley and Frey wish they could compose an album like this: the real shit.
the shit. fer sure...
lovelley joe

wow, I was so hoping this was on you tube and IT IS!!!! Awsome!
half dot c o m or ama zon
One of the best songs of one of the best albums ever made.Commercially not a success.... but great music.Joe is one the best guitar players in the world.
Hit the used record stores. Back in 1973, the album was not a commercial success but the true Joe Walsh fans loved it to this day.
How do I find this album?
Got it Elizabeth, bring it over ?
Ohhh Yes !?!?!? thank you for posting...man... this is a memory jogger!?!?
This is just the beginning of his talent, not really, he worked hard with the James Gang!
I have loved Joe since the dead sea was sick LOL !
His most experimental and (in my humble opinion) his best album. I wore out the grooves on my copy of this LP. Three guys (four if you count Bill (Kilowatt) Szymczyk behind the board) playing the most incredible American music ever committed to disc. The whole album has this lush but spacey feel from all the reverb and processing, but somehow every little lick and riff comes through clear as a bell.
Gawd, I wish iTunes wold release this. My turntable died long ago.
I couldn't have put it any better myself. You said it all
joe is one of the best i ever heard and i've heard a lot of music!! my oldest brother turned me on to joe many years back and i've been a fan ever since!!!!! please dont take this album off youtube!! he's got such emotion in his singing!!!! Can anybody load, JAMES GANG RIDES AGAIN WITH THE HORSES ON THE FRONT COVER OF THE ALBUM!! THAT WAS A COOL ONE ALSO!!!!!!
I've been a Joe fan from day 1.I never heard him do anything I didn't like. I had the good fortune to see him do a one man show at The Beacan in NYC after his radio show was completed. OUTSTANDING! BTW parts of this cut remindes me of It's "All The Same" off of The James Gang "Thirds" Album.
I have not heard this song since the 70's. I had bought the album back then from a used record store, but it had a bad scratch. It would skip and I never played it. I am so pleased to hear it once again. Thanks for posting.
Hye boys scored 5 James Gang and Joe Walsh albums from a defunk store - so nice, smoer you get rocks also but Barnstorm maybe the best
@burner420 OMG burner me too AB college WV that and a does of Lowell George is all I needed OH YEAH!!!!
OMG this is so beautiful I'm gonna cry.
This album is rarely seen on "Top 100 best rock albums of all time" and I wonder why. Sure it deserves to be at least top 30? The whole album is fantastic, intelligent (without being pretentious), greatly executed, sensitive, rough, the songs are gems... What a fine record. Sadly underrated
This is the first album I ever heard while high.... followed up with Van Morrison - St Dominic's Preview, Pink Floyd - Dark side of the Moon, America - America and Seals and Crofts - Year of Sunday. All fine albums.... but your first is always the best!
dalesman54 The first time I listened to Dark Side of The Moon I was under the influence of LSD. I was never the same.
@burner420 You sound like one of my roomates from college.
Some fans of this album have been posting praise... it is a fine one, isn't it? And you know what follows this song on the album, of course... you can hear ever so slight an echo of it in your head, permanently lodged there, the opening chords....
Mucho bueno
@fatbackfunk
Could anybody have put it better than you did fatbackfunk. Excellent comment.....sums it up for Walsh
always burned one to this 8track in the warm interior of a 71 dodge van before having to set concrete foundation forms in the cold winter colorado mornings.
Thanks Joe!
@pekoe Agreed
@pekoe
Too bad we can't get this music back. The music industry is done for me.
Wow..what feelings I have listening to this song......
Sit back in a beach chair with your Frappe in the sun and reminice to your blessings listening to this song. Birdcall Morning is a tripper from the legendary Walsh.
I gotta say I absolutely LOVE this record..!! Always been a fan of his guitar playing and voice. And only in recent years I've been slowly but surely getting around to checking out his solo work.. And when I finally heard "Barnstorm" that was it..!! It's absolute perfection from beginning to end. One of those rare albums that you can actually play over and over and never get tired of. EVERY song is stellar...THIS is music!!! Straight up..
37 years haven't changed anything... 28 and listening to the vinyl... Loving it... smokes probably better though...
Oh man, MCQ, I can dig it. This 8 track accompanied me on many haze filled days in the old bean bag chair.......
I rememebr driving through the Rockies stoned back in 1973 listening to the 8 track of this album. Man........
Nice.......
I love Joe Walsh
Boston, Massachusetts
