Walker, Clay - The Chain Of Love Lyrics
He was driving home one evening,
In his beat up Pontiac
When an old lady flagged him down,
Her Mercedes had a flat
He could see that she was frightened,
'Til he said I'm here to help you ma'am,
By the way my name is Joe
She said I'm from St. Louis,
And I'm only passing through
I must have seen a hundred cars go by,
This is awful nice of you
When he changed the tire,
And closed her trunk
And was about to drive away,
Here's what he had to say
You don't owe me a thing, I've been there too
Someone once helped me out,
Just the way I'm helping you
If you really want to pay me back,
Here's what you do
Don't let the chain of love end with you
Well a few miles down the road,
The lady saw a small cafe
She went in to grab a bite to eat,
And then be on her way
But she couldn't help but notice,
How the waitress smiled so sweet
And how she must've been eight months along,
And dead on her feet
And though she didn't know her story,
And she probably never will
When the waitress went to get her change,
From a hundred dollar bill
The lady slipped right out the door,
And on a napkin left a note
There were tears in the waitress's eyes,
When she read what she wrote
You don't owe me a thing,
I've been there too
Someone once helped me out,
Just the way I'm helping you
If you really want to pay me back,
Here's what you do
Don't let the chain of love end with you
That night when she got home from work,
The waitress climbed into bed
She was thinkin' about the money,
And what the lady's note had said
As her husband lay there sleeping,
She whispered soft and low
Everything's gonna be alright, I love you, Joe

"A simple act of caring creates an endless ripple that comes back to you."
It doesn't hurt to be nice to someone you never know you may need help one day and being kind to someone whether you know them or they are a stranger is free my grandfather always told me an act of kindness never hurt anyone but sadly these days the world has changed so much a few years ago I was at the shopping centre when I went to leave my car wouldn't start so I checked everything but had to ring for help while I was waiting for help to arrive I started counting there had been 25people who had walked passed me and not one asked if I was OK or is there anything they could do
This is the orginal pay it forward song.
a nice country song!
LOVE!!! ♡♡♡
Why does he have a beard at the end? Weird and a little creepy.

Whoever wrote the Boy Scout Slogan must have thought about this message: "Do A Good Turn Daily".
🙏🇺🇸👍
The waitress remembered where she had heard those words before. Her husband has said it before.
I think that way of life is going down the drain faster and faster with every generation
So true
Beautiful.
This is such a beautiful and powerful song. There needs to be more people like this in the world
Yeah that’s right y’all
This song is Brilliant for so many reasons
damn I remember listening to this when I was like early teens now 15+ years later through so much and so many songs this reminds me of who I am and have always been
Through life one thing we should always do remember where we have been what we have seen the way we live our life but most importantly who we are
I swear on helping others. I had been brought up on a small active dairy farm in Northern Illinois. We were raised on the ethic of helping others and hard work. One year recently, a new physician moved to a rural area near a small town where she was going start her practise. She had a low tire at the fueling station in town. I had just got done milking cows on another dairy farm. I offered to fill her low tire. She wanted it replaced with a spare tire that she had. Of course, I got down on my shot milker knees and gladly replaced her tire. Now, she offered a $50 dollar bill in exchange. But I declined. I said to her to pass the favor along to someone in need. I further advised, that I help neighbors in need. I was raised to do that. Even though she was new in town and I struggled to get up off my shot knees, that physician owes me nothing even though she is new in town. She may have saved lives in the past or may have saved lives after this event. This happened about 4 years ago in Crawford County Wisconsin. Vincent
I grew up in a small country town everyone helped everyone but then I had to move to the city for uni and nobody helps anybody it is so sad about three years ago after I had been shopping I went to start the car to go home the car wouldn't start so I checked all the basic stuff first but all was good so I pulled the bonnet everything looked fine so I rang for roadside service as I was waiting I counted 25people walk pass and none stopped to ask if I was OK if they happened in the country the first one to see you in trouble would stop its so sad to see the difference from country living to city living
@Julie_Ann Smith Wow! Sorry to hear your road troubles. And much worse, all the people that passed you by without an offer to help you. Sad. What city do you live in?
@Dairy Farmer Australia
Oh yea, when I was a teenager to save money to go to uni I used to work in the dairy cross the road from where I lived I remember getting up at 1AM bringing the cows in for milking taking them back to the paddock to feed til the afternoon milking it was great I enjoyed working there all my friends said it was a horrible job but when you want to save for something I took whatever job that was going and going through uni I worked three jobs to support myself
i help people and when im down on my luck the help comes right back gotta start passing it on down again to manny people are selfish now its wrong
Helping others in need you will be helped when unexpected I usually say to people what goes around comes around what you do to others comes back to you so therefore you should always try to do something good if you want good to come back to you
That last line, though... .gets you every time!
I forgot about this one
❤👍🙂 Blessed Song ...!!!

Man, I can't remember the last time I heard this song
This is one amazing song, can not hear it enough.
How wonderful to have heard this song, it truly brought joy to my heart. This is the kind of music the world needs. Lets always be kinder than necessary and be willing to help anyone in need.
I agree with you but sadly in this world of today nobody stops to see if anyone is OK nobody has time to ring to see if you are OK but when they need someone and you don't drop everything and run to their needs you are the worst in the world but as soon as you ask for help or someone to talk to they don't have time I miss the good old days
I'm living indianapolis, Indiana
What's it lie there never been there

One of my favorite songs by Clay. It talks of compassion for your fellow human beings. Don't ever let that chain of love end. And I hope that waitress and Joe got to send their child or children to college.
This is one of my favorite songs by clay
Just the way we do things in the country
Country people always had time to help others
They don't make country music like this anymore.
Love this song. Great song reminds me of my dad
I think the older lady is kinda hot. Great song as well
Love it 2019
The chain of love should be more in the world,it will be a better place to live.I have done it myself.
I have helped many people I was, helping my friend next door til I got kicked in the guts and treated like I was crapp when that happened it was like I will never help anyone again but needless to say I did its just something that comes natural because I always like to think if that were me I hope someone would be kind enough to help me but its true this is a very sad world and kindness has gone astray

Loooooooove this song/video! Clay looking gorgeous as always!!!!!!!
I was 19 years old and the army reserves and working at Walmart as a cashier.
On my way into work one day I saw someone broke down I stopped to help them.
It was a little old lady with a flat tire and she had no idea how to change it and Triple A had told her it would be at least an hour and a 1/2.
It took me less than 10 minutes to change it. She offered me money I said no, She insisted that she give me something so I accepted the chocolate dipped pretzels that she gave me they were from Peter Brooke
I left and didn't think about it again.
The next month when I reported in to drill for the weekend I was immediately called into my 1st sergeant's office. Being that I knew I was young and dumb I thought I did something stupid.
Well when I walked into his office there was a lieutenant colonel in uniform. My commander was not there that day for whatever reason and I did not recognize this lieutenant colonel so I definitely thought I was in trouble now.
He stood up and asked me if my name was Krista Henderson and did I work at Walmart. Standing at attention I said yes sir to both.
He stuck out his hand and said I wanna shake the hand of the soldier who stopped and helped my wife. He explained that his wife had gone to the Walmart nearest where the incident had occurred and had asked if I worked there. My manager did not wanna give out personal details obviously but did say yes she does. Well when she told him he told her what company and battalion I was in.
After he left my 1st sergeant handed me a white envelope. Said he had been instructed to give it to me after he was gone. There was a $1000 in cash inside and I cried like a baby.
You see my car had broken down now week and I needed a new transmission. The cost of it with $1800 I just didn't have the money. That extra $1000 gave me just enough to get it fixed
GOD BLESS YOU for helping someone in need🙏🏻
God richly bless you
Your Story made me cry. The only know that there was a kind-hearted out there yet. God bless you, and keep it up good things come in time of need if you do good yourself. Try to remember that even when things are tough and don't seem that way don't let your head fall down.
Planted seeds grow, so does kindness.
That is so beautiful and inspiring! Love it! Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️
Pay it forward, just because, but I promise, it will come back to you, somehow, someway. That’s just the way it works. Beautiful song and video.
Imagine laying down for bed, looking out the window, and Clay Walker is recording a music video about you. Lol. Great classic country song
Aint no good chain gang
Good song
Love this song Amen 🙏
Sweet song...but couldn't they have used a Pontiac at the beginning instead of an Olds for the car he was driving?
@Carla SuAnne Lockett I think it goes to show people who have had to struggle to get what they want are more helpful than those who have had everything they wanted handed to them, when I was a teenager at uni one student was so spoilt she got everything handed to her she never knew the real value of what it was like to help others or to save for what you wanted she became so selfish so inconsiderate so unhelpful til one day she found she needed help but nobody would help her for the way she treated everyone else it's called Karma if you want good to happen to just be good to someone who needs it a little kindness does not hurt and its free
A beautiful song, but I don't think much of the husband asleep in bed while his pregnant wife is out working. The song contains a valuable message though.
Huge Bartlett probably because they both work & he’s just as worn out when he get home & they work different hours.
@Tim Fountain My house husband used to work night work in a meat factory I was a nurse so my sleep time was his work time and so on it depends the person and the work they do my husband could only get night shift because not many people like the night shift and in nursing you work the shift you are rostered on for I was working night, day, afternoon you should have seen my meal times never knew when they were going to be so yea not every couple can work the same hours
Julie_Ann Smith that was exactly my point
@Tim Fountain True not every couple can work the same days same hours it depends on the types of jobs each one of us has to do I have always been in nursing so my shifts have always been day afternoon and night I was lucky to marry someone who understood my crazy hours
Few songs tell of true Love... Thanx Clay
Someone very special to me sent this to me I never realised how much he did care but this song says it all
This song definitely defines why I am so nice and helping random strangers, I know what it is like being on the receiving end, also due to my upbringing.
Rumor has it that Joe met his wife one day when he was selling turnips out of a flat bed Ford...
Thank God for good directions, and turnip greens ;)
🤣😍
What song is that from "flat bed ford"?
I have always loved. This song since the first time I heard it. The chains of love. When somebody helps you. You have somebody else. And the chain of helping will continue. You will be Blessed for helping someone.
One of my absolute all time favorites forever!!!!
I love this song so much
What a great song, always makes me cry.
