Walker Brothers, The - The Girl I Lost In The Rain Lyrics

Last night I walked through town
The rain was tumbling down and I could hardly see
I just lost my heart
I gave it from the star she made a fool of me

Now and then a light, filled the misty night
Though my heart was filled pain
That's when I first saw the girl I lost in the rain

You were standing there, with raindrops in your hair
Your smiling face aglow, it gave me such a thrill
It burns within me still, I know

I never heard a sound but when I turned around
You suddenly were gone
I know should forget, I tell myself and yet
Your memory lingers on

Even if I tried, searching far and wide, all would be in vain
For I could never find the girl I lost in the rain
I could never find, the girl I lost in the rain

What a crock...Scott Walker is a genius and doing his best music right now!..

A voice such as this cannot sustain itself forever. He had it all when he was in his twenties - never heard a voice like it, charasmatic, beautiful, pure and soulful. But, you could tell by the mid seventies it was starting to fade. Now it's gone to it's opposite. Just glad i heard him in his prime.

    A.... M....

Totally disagree; a voice is, a voice is, a voice. I'm happy that he's still here and expanding his view of voice (as an instrument). To me he still has an amazing "voice".

Scott has not lost any of his voice. Certainly it has matured over the years, don’t forget he had his ‘hits’ in1964/5 when he was a lad of 20/21.
Without in any being rude, and assuming that you are of the same or similar age to Scott, myself and plenty of others, then perhaps a hearing test could be the order of the day?
I wish you well to be able to appreciate Scott for many more years to come.

What a crock! His voice was beautiful as he aged. He hadn't done charismatic and pure music for decades. Still beautiful and sometimes soulful even tho I did not understand or enjoy it. There is a very small following of his later and current music because of this. He could have had a wildly successful career and been a very rich man but he did not want it. Instead he chose to do sad and controversial music which never caught on. He didn't care and wanted to do it his way and live his way and he did. Not having to wear a crash helmet or have the clothes ripped off him going into a concert venue. The man was a huge talent in his prime.

i can not understand why he dose what he dose to day. He has thousands of fans out there wish he would do music like this again. i just can't get my head round what he dose now & i have tried. come on Scott just one would do.

I agree, but we must be grateful that we can revisit a wonderful time in music history whenever we want with these videos. I don't think we will ever see again the quality and excitement this group brought to us back then.

Scott Walker has done many, many albums..and continues to be a major musical force.

  7. P.... J....

Possibly the greatest soulful vocalist of our time.........when I met him during supporting the band I was knocked out by his mystic aura.........that was 68 and the man remains an enigma.......thank you for bringing him to us once again

    P.... J....

Ha! Did you get to talk much?

    P.... J....

No answer was the stern reply.

  8. C.... A....

  11. C.... ....

The ultimate 'boy band' which none have ever matched since!

    C.... ....

That is a matter of personal taste my friend

  12. W.... ....

I came across this somewhat haunting song by accident. Excellent use - subtle changes from major to minor work so well to emphasise the meaning to the lyrics.

  13. h.... ....

Scott's voice at that age was unworldly dont care who you compare Sinatra. Perry, etc nobody had a voice in his teens like Scott that I ever heard
