Walker Brothers, The - Summertime Lyrics
Summertime
And the living is easy
Fish are jumping
And the cotton is high
And your Ma is good-looking
So hush, little baby
Don't you cry
One of these mornings
You're gonna rise up singing
You're gonna spread your wings
And take to the sky
But until that morning
With Daddy and Mammy
Standing by
One of these mornings
You're gonna rise up singing
And I know you'll spread your wings
And you'll take to the sky
Whoa, yeah
Nothing, no nothing's gonna harm you
With Daddy and Mammy
Standin' by
Summertime
Summer
Time!
Summertime, summertime

Walker Brothers, The Summertime Comments
Madison totally agree.
Great version thanks for posting - Beautiful man beautiful voice ❤️ RIP Scott💔
Interesting adaptation. Beautiful vocal.
My favourite version of this. We need to give more credit to the musicians and arrangers and producers ( Ivor Raymonde and Reg Guest and produced by John Franz ) on the Walker Brothers songs and this an excellent example. But to focus on the lads - to me this is one of the best examples of John and Scott's voices working together to make the song. Fantastic!
Meu Deus!!!! Que interpretação fantástica para este clássico da canção mundial! Amei!
50 years and That Voice still knocks me sidewaysand John had beautuful harmonies.
That is truly the best version out there including Broadway versions! Beautiful
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 74yo Aussie fan.
¡Sublime!
dave edmund's "rockpile" did the best version of this classic song

Its so seldom Scott stretches his voice, he does so here to glorious effect. Poor John, for once given solo space, just isn't in same league.. who would be?
My goodness, I'm in love with Scott Walker's voice. I don't even care much for the Walker Brothers' songs as such, but between Scott's voice and the orchestration...sure, I'll go buy all of their records half a century later. Hell, they're better than most these days.
Between Scott's earlier work and what he's been putting out in recent decades, I'd say he's the definitive pop star. There is just no going wrong with his output--except that there's perhaps too little of it.
i loved him.its time for him to come home.
Summertime sitting on the patio with long glass of scotch and coke headphones on and the fantastic Walker Bros playing what could be better. Thanks for posting.
Love the sax interlude in this track as well as Scott's beautiful voice! And John really shines in this song too, it wouldn't be so good without his input, although Scott is my fave singer of all time!
Wow! I knew about the Walker Bros., but never heard all their songs--this one is exceptional!! Love the orchestra behind the voices!!!
This is INCREDIBLE....brilliance....
Show me a man more gorgeous than John Walker Maus!
Charismaticart Scott!
I'd forgotten they did this its very sweet. Some people say on here that Scott's voice was underrated....not true it was very highly rated by those in the know but Scott was not prepared for the music industry to gobble him up...he did things his way pretty much so was not too commercial. This made it hard for fans as it was difficult to see him live but he was a legend in his own time and managed to survive the pressure. My youth was all about Scott much to the perplexion of friends and family because I'm not sure we scott fans were considered very cool on the street! At 14 you were really supposed to be listening to other stuff which I did it's just that when I heard Best of both worlds Angelique and mathilde my whole world spun into a completely different orbit...It was everything else and Scott was my secret vice....We Scott fans were possessive of the "knowledge"...We were almost a cult...at least that's how it felt at the time..I took a lot of sarcasm and criticism from my peers over my love for Scott . I cannot listen to his contemporary stuff but Scott 1 and 2 are still on my play list....I took still love those amazing first solo albums.
and David Bowie was inspired by Scott all his life....even at the end his work is very similar to what Scott has been doing lately and which I find very hard to understand....
Great comment, thank you!
thank you for the fucking novel jesus christ. No but seriously thanks i didn’t know that about David Bowie looking up to Scott Walker.
Scott Engel's voice is the most beautifull voice in the popscene.... His voice goes through my soul.
Really underrated...
very nice a privilege to hear, to be alive
jou, juht jemacht, jungs (1966), geiles stimm-arrangement …
OMG how high is the sky
Soul-stirring!
I'm glad I discovered this version.Thanks for uploading .
I love Scott Walker no-one sounds like him. I was also sad to learn that John has died. I love their version of Summertime.
fantastic what a band sorry we lost john R.I.P never hear the harmonizing like this again
such a shame Johns voice wasn't used more, very under-rated as this melody shows, what a combination
I ADORE THE WALKER BROTHERS! They are, as usual, in excellent voice. This was always a brilliant song, but THIS is the best version you will ever hear!
This song make me feel universe. I listened this song when I was very young, I had a same feeling.
WHY????????????????????????????????????????????
Beautiful. Powerful harmony / arrangement. Shivers up the spine +++
I absolutely LOVE this version Summertime. Awesome !!!
@boragalera Stupid!!!!!! You must be looking in a mirror =D
@guidofski Thanks for the info =)
@rioboy13
They are not brothers, Stupid!!!!!!!
RIP, John Walker
SWOON!!!!
@rioboy13 The funny thing is that they weren't actually brothers and they weren't named Walker (real names: Scott Engel, John Maus and Gary Leeds)! They just thought it would be a good name for a band - they were right, hehe! :)
HOW AWESOME!!! 3 brothers singing together!
@wydeville Completely agree! Thanks so much for your words. :))
You're in good company. ;)
Thanks Janey!
