Walker Brothers, The - Land Of 1,000 Dances Lyrics

La, la la la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la la la
La, la la la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la la la

You gotta know how to Pony
Like Bony Maronie
Do the Jerk
Let's see you work
Do Watusi
Like Lucy-Goosy

La, la la la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la la la
La, la la la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la la la

Mashed potato
Alligator
Do the Snake
Do the Hippy Shake
Roll on your back now
I said I like it like that now

La, la la la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la la la
Everybody now
La, la la la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la la la

Clap your hands now
Clap your hands now
Clap your hands now
Clap your hands now
One more time now
Looking fine now

La, la la la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la la la
La, la la la la, la la la la, la la la, la la la, la la la la

  43. G.... H....

John's moves were no good for my blood pressure in 1966 and things haven't improved...!!

    G.... H....

    hahahahaha Gill....

    G.... H....

I looks just like he would be a brother of Mick Jagger. Evbery Move a dig....

    G.... H....

LOL i say the same. Where is this God? I have never of him anymore. He was my favourite "brother".

  44. l.... ....

Had to wait 50 years to see a performance of something I only heard a few times on "pirate" radio, sung by a man whose picture was all over my bedroom wall. Thanks for posting this. Modern technology is wonderful!

  45. p.... ....

compelling in the weirdest, whitest way! got to admire gary leeds too: the way he can make his drums sound like a whole soul band has never been surpassed...

    p.... ....

+pipeandslippersman Could he actually play anything ?

    p.... ....

+SG Barnard they started as a 3 piece band with scott on bass and john on guitar. so i guess the answer is yes... but it's session musicians on pretty much everything worth listening to by them.

    p.... ....

I think he was the catalyst that drove them to our shores, and no-one felt they could just drop him ... he was decorative too

    p.... ....

+SG Barnard Still laughing about your original comment

    p.... ....

I think Gary Leeds put the outfit together and also looked the part. He didnt play on records or live though.

  46. G.... P....

I can't help but think of Napoleon Dynamite every time I watch these guys.

  47. C.... ....

OMG - Just watch the late John Walker shake his stuff!

    C.... ....

    I'm completely mesmerized ... !!

    C.... ....

    Me too.

    C.... ....

I keep returning to this vid.

    C.... ....

He puts Mick Jagger to shame..

    C.... ....

+Mel S. yep he puts everyone to shame that is one cool self possessed dude

  48. M.... ....

Scott had everything, the voice, the looks and yet he just walked away at the height of his stardom.. That was a big shame to us as we missed his Amazing voice..

    M.... ....

No, he didn't walk away, he went in another direction, made some great solo albums - check out Scott 4 - didn't initially have much success but has since been recognised as one of the most important singer/writers/producers of our time - covered and idolised by Bowie no less!

  49. a.... s....

no this didn't fit Scott's voice

  50. .... ....

    ダンス天国、日本で大人気でしたね、女性ファンが多くいましたね🎸

  51. C.... P....

Great group, my years in high school, 60's.

    C.... P....

    Back when they had music.

  52. S.... M....

This proves the absolute genius of the walker brothers could sing anything.fab rip john.

  53. B.... B....

    NOT LIVE !

    B.... B....

    @Bill Brower
yeah, but what's live today after all?
if any dj today is a "live performance" this is a live performance as well even if it's playback.

  54. S.... B....

Go John go ... you may have left us but this is always here ... you are much missed

    S.... B....

If I didn't know better I'd say he was Jim Morrisons twin brother!

  55. A.... C....

    lip synced

  56. M.... B....

I love how everybody is still skinny back then.

  57. C.... ....

OMG - Just watch the late John Walker shake his stuff!
There are no groups today that can compare or compete with the W.Bros in both voice and appearance?

  58. G.... ....

    What microphones are those? Thanks!

  59. h.... ....

It's not OK for the Walker Bros. to sing "la" instead of the required "na" in this version.

    h.... ....

The guys are probably singing "la la". Instead of "na na" because Scott had had some voice training early on. "La la" is protective of the vocal chords and "na na" puts strain of the voice. As much as they were singing in live performances, they probably chose the one that is protective of those terrific voices. Just smart use of their voices. Look at how many times you hear about modern singers needing surgery because they've torn up their vocal cords!

  60. n.... ....

Great artists...but did not suit the song...

  61. c.... h....

i agree very cute a lot better when we saw live in the sixtys

  62. c.... r....

    Sexy guys!

  63. S.... ....

Scott is dancing in his own way. He might lose to Jon. But cute!

  64. j.... ....

Love the way that Patti Smith performed this on her Horses album.

  65. j.... g....

THIS is where Jagger got his moves...

    j.... g....

joan gordon I agree just watching John wow

  66. S.... B....

    R I P John

  67. S.... B....

Yes remember him like this ... btw is Gary Leeds actually doing anything apart from pretending to play the drum?

  68. s.... ....

the mighty walker brothers! remember john this way.

  69. R.... S....

Somebody should have given those guys some food - painfully thin the lot of them.

  70. s.... ....

If Big Bird were a man, he'd be the one wearing stripes.

  71. a.... ....

@09bnunez True, America's loss was Britain's gain. The Walker Brothers were huge in the UK, especially from late summer 65 to spring 66 when they had two no.1s and a no.3 and were almost as big as The Beatles and The Stones. Check out the box set Everything Under the Sun - they were much more than a singles group, their albums and ep's sold well. Songs like Experience, After the Lights Go Out, I Can't Let it Happen to You and their brilliant version of People Get Ready will knock you out.

  72. c.... g....

i love how clearly scott does not care about the dances at all. he's doing some funky serpentine. <3 scott.

  73. c.... ....

    R.I.P. John

  74. S.... S....

    RIP John Maus

  75. 4.... ....

    nice dance !!!

  76. E.... N....

the walker bros couldnt make in america so they left for england...they were big there......2 hits only.

  77. 3.... ....

Love the way how they dance :)

  78. C.... B....

What a sound! Great performance an good singers.

  79. J.... ....

Go, John, go! I love to dance to this song!
