Walker Brothers, The - Deadlier Than The Male Lyrics

She whispers oh such pretty lies
Don't believe her
For when she looks into her eyes
Love just isn't there
Brother, beware
Take care, my brother, take care
For the female of the species is deadlier than the male

The smile that made a dream begin
Clouds your vision
It's just the shadow of a dream
That you're living in
She never cared
Beware, my brother, beware
For the female of the species is deadlier than the male

Memories of kisses on a summer's day
That's all she left you when she went away
Now, you pay!

By walking streets, you'll never know
When the night comes
Sitting at places that you go
Hoping she'll be there
Brother, beware
Take care, my brother, take care
For the female of the species is deadlier than the male

  4. G.... T....

One of the best Song ever made....so British so human so Deadlier than the Male

  5. F.... C....

I don't hear James Bond when I listen to this great song. Never made the association.

  6. N.... ....

It's interesting how much he sounds like Jim Morrison here, especially when he sings
Brother beware; almost like a Morrison which didn't found the Doors, but a large orchestra.
Sometimes I think that if he hadn't died, he'd have followed a similar musical path to Scott Walker

  7. I.... O....

Sorry to hear that Scott Walker passed away yesterday. Wonderful guy, great singer RIP sir!

    I.... O....

Ian Oliver This would make a great James Bond theme song.

Now some gifted video artist should put together a Maurice Binder-style title sequence to go with this song.  Definitely sounds like a Bond theme from some parallel universe.

greenmonsterprod: as many have pointed out, this has to be one of the best Bond songs NOT written for a Bond movie, haha! I agree that Binder would have done wonders with it. Here's the original title sequence for the film (which, incidentally, many consider to be the best Bond knock-off ever made): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY-QqQ2ClGk

Ça me fait songer un peu à la musique de James bond

  10. I.... B....

Thannk you Guidofski. I have loved The Walker Brothers and Scott Walker since the sixties.

    I.... B....

    Hi Inge
I was 12 when I first heard them in 1965 . Scott was my first big popstar crush and what a voice, the best I've ever heard xx

Was going to watch this film but clicked this first, cool song. Never really knew about The Walker Brothers until now when I read their bio. I heard The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore of course but have not thought about it or heard it for 25 years, thanks for the upload.

  13. L.... F....

I can't imagine being young when quality like this was in the charts. Amazing.

    L.... F....

+Leeds Fanzines Sadly and strangely this didn't chart well at all - as oddly others at this time didn't. Try Another Tear Falls folks - it seems to go well with this one.

    L.... F....

There has been nothing to touch it since.

    L.... F....

saw them live in 1966..they were INCREDIBLE..the voices, the harmony !! sooo underrated...

    L.... F....

    Craftsmanship.

Now... you can't even hum a tune.

  14. W.... T....

It's odd that it didn't sell well at all. Fickle public, perhaps.

  15. D.... G....

Just watched the film with said tune cracking film with follow up Some girls do With i must say even better sound track by lee vanderbilt

  16. t.... ....

    So cool. Thanks for posting...

  17. A.... M....

They were just about at the end of their time together when this came out. It got into the lower regions of the British charts. Exciting times.

  18. h.... ....

Powerful opening. How many voices have ever had the depth and can resonate as Scott's can?

  19. G.... A....

Yet again a theme song that was superior to the movie it supported.
It's too bad the Walkers were not asked to sing any of the Bond Themes of the day?

  20. k.... r....

Love this song i used to listen to it when i was a kid and i never stopped.FANTASTIC.

  21. g.... ....

@genatzvalee Totally agree with you there! By the way, we share the same name, only difference is that I'm Margarida (with a D). Thanks for your comment! :))

  22. g.... ....

Amazing voice! It's even funny that a slim little fair-haired guy like Scott Walker has such a gorgeous deep baritone that can easily compete with Elvis' and Sinatra's!

And yes, it is definitely the James Bond sound! ;)

    Peace out!

    g.... ....

He sounds more like Jim Morrison here

  23. g.... ....

    Duly noted, Stuart. ;)
    Thanks for stopping by. :)

  24. P.... H....
