It's like a song for my parent's for when my soul died and the reality of mortality awoken within me when i was 12. After all, everything dies, esp the things and people you love. And here I am at 26 hoping for death to finally take me when it all but teases me with physical pain and a slightly more broken psyche from it. Who doesn't love life?

Damn it, this is perfect song, strikes like a needle straight into heart.
Two years ago I met a woman. She was fascinating, we became close friends, but despite confessing feelings for each other we respected the borders due to her being in a relationship. Eh, how many times I heard she felt trapped. Despite that we could always count on each other. One day she stopped talking with me, ceased any contact. At first I thought something bad happened but that wasnt it. After several different tries I finally got to her, only for her to handle the phone to her partner, who then told me to never contact "them" again. Then I knew I lost precious friend and important part of my life, without even a goodbye. A person I once knew and loved no longer exists, or is trapped behind those eyes. I dont know. I only hope she's suffering, because if she is, then we were something.

Listening to this on repeat I'm hearing a different meaning than I first did ??

I'm not sure why but my mind keeps going back to this being from the point of view of someone having a crush as opposed to someone being in a relationship. When you place someone on a pedestal but never get to ACTUALLY know them, you create all sorts of expectations for what you want them to be, and if you ever actually approach them you're going to realize they're not all you dreamed them to be.

It's kind of like in Gatsby - he built so many scenarios in his head that when it came to actually talking to her it wasn't the way he thought it was going to be. He was disappointed. He was hurt.

That's kind of how I see this - at least with my interpretation. Someone was in "love" and they built this image of someone they admired from afar, then realized when they actually spoke with her that she didn't live up to the dreams they had created. And they felt, in a sense, that she had killed that image of her they had created - even though she had never been that person.

I know that's likely not your meaning behind it and it's not the meaning most people get from it, but still. The beauty of music is that a song is what you believe it to be. Your interpretation is just as important as the interpretation the artist had while creating it.

I just thought it would be cool to share mine - sorry if I'm rambling.

I thought of his friend who committed suicide. I thought it was about how people change, almost become a completely different person after bullying or trauma.

I hate the one eye with so much eyeshadow and none almost none on the other eye on this album cover. I'd ask why it's like this, but I'm afraid of the answer.

I was showing friend some of your music and I played her this song and she said "Oh Voltaire, you have been hurt. You have been hurt. Who hurt you so badly?" in her best Peter Griffin voice. this is really great.  love this album

loving the boo hoo album so far, has a lot of sad instrumentals, and i like the satirical love songs.

i had an ex who used to ask me "what happened to the girl i fell in love with?"he would ask me this as a way to guilt into doing what he wanted, giving him money or sex, when i didnt want to.  if i gave in everything went smoothly except for the part of me that died inside, if i didnt he would get violent.  then one day he asked me this and i replied "you killed her." he tried to hit me and i shoved him so hard into a wall he fell. while i packed up my stuff to leave he yelled and screamed, threatening to call the cops on me, blah blah blah, but he didnt try to hit or strangle me, he wouldnt get close enough. i was kinda proud of myself.
