Voivod - The Prow Lyrics
There you are, you're with me
Protecting all my crew
I carved you, from a tree
My vision is you
Lorelei, I have thee
Cutting waves, at full speed
Savouring the trip
Down the mirror of the waterline
Leaning over underwater life
Hidden treasures of the seven seas
I'm starboard to nowhere
On the Milky Way
Howling wind, salty air
Looking down the crow's nest
Gliding in the sky
Without sound, going west
Boating on the fly
Down the mirror of the waterline
Leaning over underwater life
Hidden treasures of the seven seas
But some day
You'll go home
Far away
On your own
Dans la mer
You'll go down
Go down where
You belong
Down the mirror of the waterline
Leaning over underwater life
Hidden treasures of the seven seas

Voivod The Prow Comments
In an alternate universe Voivod was bigger than Metallica. We just happen to live in the wrong one.
<3 <3 <3
Piggy was on fire on this one. This is basically a rock album (not metal) with progressive breaks.
Love the ambiance !
I Actually Liked This Album it was Very Different than Nothing Face Or D.H. before but had a groove And More Melodic Sound. And started officially there Prog. Space and Other Domains in there Concepts.
Angel Rat is full of amazing solos by Piggy.
For me, it's a rock album with progressive breaks.
reminds me Shine of Motorhead
After so many years, this album keeps so emotional and strong.
Album in my collection, thanks much for vid.
i still have the voivod album
Only voivod i ever owned. Love the "feel" of this album. Strangely horrifying, while peaceful all at once. Takes me to a magical place...
Sounds better than Voivod.. sheit.. it's Voivod
Pezzo bellissimo..l'intero disco veramente da godere fino all'ultima nota!!!!dal Canada solo cose buone..
TO THE DEATH!!! !M!
The song that made me fall in love with voivod.
this is one of the greatest songs ever written they should've put it on that gold disc they shot into space
could Voivod be in the summer hits one day....
I can't explain what I feel when I'm listening to this.
Right.
In a positive sense.
You feel it but you can’t say what
it is.
Words are not enough.
Voivod!
If you did no one would really care
I can't believe all my friends hate this band, haha. I'm the only one I know who likes them!
are you still with those friend?
The bass tone on this entire album (and Nothingface) is my absolute favorite.
Safto Vooey
....the bass tone is WOW!
Right.
———-
The climax of Voivod
was Nothingface and
Angelrat together.
Not topped until yet.
(By Voivod themselves)
This is my opinion.
Great song.
down the mirror of the waterline
leaning over underwater life
hidden treasures of the seven seas
I carved you, from a tree
My vision is you...
Unici e iiripetibili Grazie Voivod
The song is extremely Victorian Gothic to my perception and fills my mind with the ideas and forms of E.A.Poe and the like every time I'm listening to it.
The sound of guitar and bass combined with Snake's voice here gives me chills... This music flows and flows.. Like the prow of a ship in the water
Still fucking awesome after all these years. Nice one Voivod.
What a departure from Killing Technology or even Nothinface.Still a great album though.This is my favorite sonf from Angelrat.
Mi tema preferido de Voivod
Mágico!
RIP Piggy. My guitar god!
hhh.... <3 <3
When I first got into voivod I was jamming through their discography and Dimension Hatross caught me off guard. I didn't quite appreciate it the same as the first 3 and I stopped listening. My mind just wasn't ready to fully grasp it but I relistened to it and it blew me away. Even this, which is a giant departure from their early work you can just feel the Voivod feel in this. This band rules!
Agreed.
I think they definitely influenced Interpol
@jaymc2112 That was my first thought when I heard Interpol. Holy shit Well done.
I love this...
Also Dream theater's Images and Words.
Dt...ugh
bloody hell, is it really 20 years ago ? l
nothing compare the first 4 this does not sound Voivod at all is ita joke? if not strongly dislike embarassing if u know Rooaaaarrr, Dimension Hatross, Killing Technology and Nothing Face.
My favorite sound of Voivod too!! :P

ehh, nie każdy jest ograniczony do jednego gatunku muzyki lub do tego co narzuci telewizja lub znajomi... ; - /
Dobra muza. Dem ma gust :3
Great song. :)
Oh shit polish people!
Dębski ogarnij się !
PRZYSZŁEM ZA DEMEM, ŁAPA W GÓRE
Dem co ty lubiasz?
first time I ever heard it, bought the fuckin CD, love this album
Underrated Canadian band, fer sure! When I got this on audiocassette, it came with 3D glasses and a set of images to use them on. This would predate TOOL's 10.000 Days by over 15 years.
Great Band, it's a way of life, it's like The Power of Myth of Joseph Campbell: We don't know why but they play the music that is inside of us!
@dripgoss Why not start with war and pain? Lol at the last sentence. I've never even attempted to get laid before, maybe I will eventually but at the moment I'm just too mentally fucked up to do so, or even care to do so.
Assburgers makes one like that I suppose. Until then, Voivod is my sex. Well, and my tenga flip hole, which feels at least 10 times better then using my hand, I can barely last a minute with it.
Angel Rat thanks to exist
people might hate me for this but i got into this ban from songs instead of the prior work they done.
Magico!
Hidden Treasure . I want to find the seventh sea.
grrreat song, thnx 4 posting!
this album has 2 have the creepiest cover art ever!
rip piggy, u were 1 of the grrrreatest!
@878commando All great bands. I've actually always had a thing about lumping Voivod in with Hawkwind and Chrome. All very sci-fi, visionary and unique. You couldn't ever accuse Voivod of not doing things their own way.
Such an underrated album! I don't consider this a "sell out" at all, it reminds me of 80s Rush only darker and more atmospheric and eerie. Definitely not some watered down radio rock like some people think!
i agree-got several in comon with rush.and for me rush is a giant of experimental rock
All the lyrics of this song are real poetry, with a touch of darkness like : ''looking down, the crows nest'' ...that's something....
@Szamot97 a lot of people are saying that it's the best metal album ever...
Voivod go for beauty.
My fav Album is "Outer Limits". But i heard, that ost of people don't like it.
First live band I ever experienced. These guys blew my mind away; they're the only group to really cause me to rethink my intellectual approach to music and I was stunned at their range of abilities to transition into different tempos, even live. The very dynamic VoiVod.
@afoolisharrangement
They just made a break from Korgull's concept for a few albums... I can assure that this song live is as powerfull as the thrash ones. Check the video an an club in greece. What an amazing band, so underrated.
this song is killer!
@afoolisharrangement i bought this when it came out, yeah i thought it was a sellout LP/Tape.
it was my first tape i bought by them, but i got used to it & Liked it.
same concept for KISS LP unmasked, many people hate it & dont know it. I LOVE that LP/ CD!
There is no band in the world that evolved so much like Voivod.. Whatever they did, i admire the artistic freedom they displayed.. Respect for this band, my favorite band of all times..
@afoolisharrangement
Besides I love progressive rock and metal. As well as jazz, classical, punk, avant garde music. I don't discriminate by label and keep an open mind. I like/hate a lot of albums people would violently disagree with. Point of all that: Just really don't like this album. Not bad, but doesn't do much for me. I like The Outer Limits a lot more!
@afoolisharrangement
lol no. Are you even a fan of Voivod? They were never your typical three chord thrash band.
Hell, even back in the days of rooooaaar they had a bit of a unique sound.
Wait a second... just a few seconds ago I was about ready to shoot down some character named "Loosch" in Aces High. How did I get here??? :)
this has always been a favorite thanks for posting
@stoneyburned i love you boyfriend
@afoolisharrangement i'm totally agree with afoolisharrangement, you need to listen this pearl then you 'll realize how much genius is in it
@stoneyburned Baby don't be like this, I thought we had something special. Those nights where we'd lube each other up, throw on some Voivod and diddle each other till the morning sun shown through the windows.
@stoneyburned But I only want to fuck you
my favourite album of all time! PERIOD!
@stoneyburned PENIS
@dripgoss Everyone should do that in general, and not just for Voivod.
@stoneyburned so its not anymore?
snake's vocals are fucking awesome.
Cool :)
@afoolisharrangement
I agree. I love War and Pain, Dimension Hatross, and Killing Technology as much as the other Voivod fans.
I also love Angel Rat and Nothingface! They represent movement forward in the genre just like Death (RIP, Chuck you were the real pioneer), Meshuggah, and Gorguts have done in newer releases. I shudder to think what metal would be if bands didn't progress musically and lyrically.
@unchatsurlatete
Pas connu mais tous les bons connaissent. ;-)
Great music; well before it's time. I prefer 'Nothingface' over this album, but this one at least had Jean-Yves Thériault on bass, which I thought was a no-brainer. I never quite understood his departure from the band afterward ~ his bass tone was awesome. RIP Piggy!
best band ever! ....
@afoolisharrangement
I agree that Angel Rat was a beautiful album, integrating the 70s prog and psychedelic influences that Piggy was so fond of. This band made excellent thrash/black metal albums but moved on to such inventive music that may not be totally understood even 20 years later. Angel Rat and Outer Limits were full of technical space rocking breakthrough tunes... of course the Syd Barrett influence shines through too which is brilliant!!
Voivod fans I know liked this. Personally, I like all the albums, but I do see their career as going up and down. War and Pain was great, but their thrash stuff only got better, IMO, right up thru Dimension Hatross. Nothingface & Angel Rat were sort of the peak, N-face being still on the thrash side, but getting more lyrical & AR being the start of the descent, being stripped of thrash, but still energetic. Yet after The Outer Limits, they came back around with more heaviness. Gotta love 'em.
Awesome song right here!
i honestly cant decide if this album was a turn for the better for voivod, or if it was just a step down from nothingface. i do like most of the songs on angel rat, though
@q28s1
I definitely have come to respect and love this album. It was such a culture shock to hear Voivod play music I would've never associated with Voivod but that actually made it that much better. Voivod truly are one of a kind.
@Zegeebwah First time hearing it and I love it.
I don't know how you do it but I respect you. I'm trying and Angel Rat starting to click for me. Did you have to
"ease into" Angel Rat or did you like it from the start?
VOIVOD!!!!!!!!!!
