Glad i found this album again. Epic music and the brilliant guitarwork of Mr Piggy.

PRONG IS BETTER AT THIS STYLE. Far as instrumentation..minus the vocals, these vocals are the usual for a lot of bands..shitty growls n roars..yelling. Its gotton lame.

Its not a BAD album, its just lacking those creepy nerd vocals that only Snake can provide. With the new guy its just kind of bordering on a Fear Factory kind of sound.

If you think this production is bad your stereo sucks. Viva la voivod . FREEDOM FRIES TOO..

They feel heavier in the Eforce era, a bit industrial, Phobos has some Sepultura vibe at times too. Love it all

I've seen Voi Vod as both a 5 piece and a 3 and I have to say that I throughly enjoyed (and was surprised) by the later's performance. Up until that show I didn't realize that the stripped down version even existed and I promptly went out and bought the CD! The tour I attended was in 1999 with Neurosis in Seattle btw. - I also had a similar experience with Hawkwind when I saw them perform as a three piece back in the early 90's in D.C. (they rocked!)

If you have to avoid a VOIVOD album, this one is by far the weakest.

I saw E-Force live recently. They play the songs from these 2 albums, great experience as they're the songs you wouldn't usually hear at Voivod's gig!

That's a stupid argument. How about "no blacky/piggy? no Voivod" then? By saying this they should have disbanded just after Angel Rat recording, and instead we ave been enjoying so many great albums. Stopping yourself to the lineup is a sign of closed mindness, exactly the opposite of what Voivod stands for.

No...it says Voivod on the cover, and sounds like Voivod. I guess Back in Black isn't ACDC then...or Heaven and Hell isn't Sabbath...or Number of the Beast isn't Iron Maiden.

Not exactly. Snake and Blacky quit the band right before the start of recording of Negatron. The athmosphere inside the band with E-Force was rather calm, although the overwhelming debt and failure of this album must have been rather bitter bonds.

I have had this album since it came out, and have never heard that song "Drift." My copy doesn't have it. This is weird.

InfernalRaven, US copies didn't have it. Euro versions have it. Japanese version have even two more tracks.

Even canadian versions do not have it

..Voivod's 8th classic out of 8!! This one also survives easily time although its +20yrs old. I wished this played long enough shows to have a wider pick from all these great albums. A song like Nanoman or Planeth Hell would fit Snake's voice easily.

Sometimes it's as if it is speaking only to me, like I"m totally alone in my appreciation while knowing there are many out there that appreciate this band. As if being connected somehow is mutually exclusive per individual.

Insect is the song that stuck with me, Piggy's dissonant guitar tone, but i never delved into them until 4 years ago. I discovered Phobos, and became addicted to it much of 2015. Then i went to their past when they were a 4piece band with Snake and Blacky. Ravenous Medicine led to Psychic Vacuum, loved both Killing Technology, and Dimension Hatröss. Have heard some Rrrroar, War and Pain, Angelrat, and much of Nothinface, and Outer Limits. Listening to their current material with Dan Mongrain, hes not Piggy (Rest in peace guitar god) but hes an amazing and unique guitarist in his own right, very intriguing sound. Im in love with their overall sound, so innovative, original, creative, progressive, unique yet still feel raw at the core( not enough adjectives to describe em in my book) . Love all their lineups and eras. What a personal tragedy i didnt give them a real chance earlier in my life. Better late than never. They have a fan now. But yes, thanks to Piggys Guitar style in Insect, that left the seed of curiosity in me since 95 and i got into them in 2014, about 10yrs after his passing. Further proof that music-art, true musicians/artists live forever through their art. Long Live Voivod.

I think it's mostly because their music is so out of known space that a lot of people can't get it. Even worse on negatron where even if the song do fit together, the end result is utterly disturbing and boderline unsustainable. Now, Phobos is as worse as this one but more on a terrifying side. That other is insanely intense, negatron too thought.@Angel Puente

I saw Voivod at either the State or the Ritz, I don't remember which one, in the Tampa Bay area in the mid or late 1990s... I remember the lead singer of Crisis sang the chorus of Nanoman along with Voivod's. It was a good show.

The CD version of this album was supposed to contain some animations or something on it in a sector of the disc that most CD players couldn't read... does anybody have video of that?

My version (Mausoleum ‎– 71278-60019-2) contains the "Insect" video clip (poor quality...) and maybe some artwork. Should check this actually...

I kind of like the lo-fi element to this except for the shit bass drum sound. I wish Die Kruzen's 2nd album sounded more like this.

this sounds more focused than other stuff i have heard by them i love nothing face but this has serious heavy grooves and i am only on the second song :P they have a sorta creepy gothic edge not like any other thrash band they seem to exist in their own little universe..

I travelled from Naples to Milan in 1995 to see them live. Pity, only 30 people at the show,but they played anyway,and it was great. I got my t-shirt,and I went back home happy. I still have it!!

Wow very nice, i met away a couple weeks ago and hook his hand, he is a very chill and relax man. I would have loved to meet piggy especially in this era!

+Violence1320 ...I did (as usual) and we had a very interesting rig talk that helped me a lot in my search for the sound and then we talked about our fav. ELP keyboard chords. Man... that were great times, and good laughs.. I miss him so much!!

ive only gotten to see them twice, once during a lame shortened slot at Ozzfest (well Piggy was still alive) then several years ago with Chewy on guitar, one of the best shows ive seen in a long time, it was incredible. As for the ozzfest one, I ONLY went for Voivod that year, and left about a half hour after their set!

Holy Crap! I been looking for this album so long that I thought I fantasized about it's existence, lol.

It is not weak album. It's got lots of groovy riffs, fine lyrics and melodies. The problem with that album is no-good sound and bad promotion.

I do not think so. In my opinion, sounds great ... promotion? ... Well ...

It came out during a time when metal fans were more or less fed up with "groovy riffs." It tanked because people wanted them to actually return to classic Voivod form (i.e. Killing Technology). The album was promoted just fine, or I mean, as well as any of their albums from that period were (probably better promoted than "Outer Limits," in fact). But it was undistinctive because they were trying to blend industrial and nu metal ideas during a time when that was waaaaay too conventional to do. I actually was one of the few metalheads I knew who would even listen to this album, most thought it was trash. I still like the album, but can see why it was poorly received at the time.
