This is pretty chill, reminds me a bit of a band I really like called "enter shikari"

The melody is quite similar to Twist in My Sobriety by Tanita Tikaram. A few other songs from completely different genre as well. I like it.

normally i'm a metalhead, but i highly approve of VNV, great guys

Me too, always preferred anything heavily guitar orientated but nothing wrong with expanding musical horizons

Metalheads like real music with meaning. And VNV is that too.

I'm a death and thrash guy, but I've enjoyed vnv for two decades. Hell, a few of their songs (Sentinel in particular) deserve a metal remake. Now we just need to get Ronan, Dino Cazares, and Til Lindman in the same room....

I actually play guitar and do a thing called "unclean vocals" for a post hardcore band, and even then, I could EASILY admit that band's like this, and the cure, even down to pet shop boys and depeche mode are all heavy staples on our sound... especially in our synth and guitar sounds (drummer and bassist are into led zepplin and slayer)

I love that mellow/calm section at the 4.00 mark.

I like the track a lot but that mellow part around 4'... grates on me. Feels like it really doesn't fit with the rest of the song and how that feels like it's supposed to flow

You can later say "I was there when it happened and didn't wait for the media to introduce me to this song and this band" (which they probably never would). Besides, music becomes some sort of diary: I remember listening to illusion by VNV Nation when my bro was working abroad; to Soliwork's "Martyr" when I worked at a construction site (my first job) etc.
