Vern Gosdin - I Can Tell By The Way You Dance (You're Gonna Love Me Tonight) Lyrics

I could see every time I look into your eyes
You don't care a thing about those other guys
Without words you make me understand what's on your mind
The rhythm of your body close to mine

I can tell by the way you dance
That you're gonna love me tonight

Sometimes it's cold sometimes it's hot
Love's either right or it's wrong
Feels so good, love you a lot
Right here beside me is where you belong

I don't care if everybody knows the way I feel
Until the dream of holding you is real

I can tell by the way you dance
That you're gonna love me tonight

Sometimes it's cold sometimes it's hot
Love's either right or it's wrong
Feels so good, love you a lot
Right here beside me is where you belong

I don't care if everybody knows the way I feel
Until the dream of holding you is real

I can tell by the way you dance
That you're gonna love me tonight
I can tell by the way you dance
That you're gonna love me tonight
I can tell by the way you dance
That you're gonna love me tonight
I can tell by the way you dance
That you're gonna love me tonight

One of the best voices ever in country music

  8. n.... ....

Most all country music superstars score their final #1 Billboard country hit before they turn 50, well for Vern Gosdin, this one was his first of what should have been a dozen #1 Billboard country hits at the age of 49 back in 1984.

  9. K.... R....

I wish country still sounded like this.....its such mindless pop garbage nowadays

Vern Rocked! His music made you dance and then he left you feeling like life is worth living if it's through Jesus. He was a very spiritual man. Thanks Vern for a lifetime of fantastic music.

  21. J.... F....

Great song. A lot of rock influence, but still great.

    J.... F....

It said at the top he didn't want to record it, too rock, but I think it's perfect!

Number one country hit for Vern in June of 1984.

Indeed it was Vern's first #1. He should have had more on Billboard like "Dream Of Me", "Do You Believe Me Now". "Who You Gonna Blame It On This Time", "Is It Raining At Your House", and "Back When."

  28. L.... 1....

it was ....and he stiil even now one of the big legendfor country music! Very Beautiful song!

  29. K.... T....

And yes, this is the original 1984 Compleat recording of this classic.

  30. K.... T....

A note: When Compleat Records folded, Vern Gosdin got his master tapes back. He issued them on VGM Records.

  31. L.... L....

    Love it

  32. C.... ....

This was Vern's first #1. On an independent label with shoddy distribution and promotion and Vern was 48 years old at the time. A few years later when he was in his 50s he got a major label deal and a producer (Bob Montgomery) smart enough to stay out of his way in the studio and let Vern make his record. Then came his first major success.  We will never see something like this happen again, nor will we ever see the likes of Vern.  He was not only a great, natural singer, he was a music genius. I was friends with Vern right before he signed his CBS deal and he hadn't been on the radio much in a while.  He played "Do You Believe Me Now" (which ended up being his first CBS single) for me. I said (assuming he got the CBS deal), "Top ten?" Vern replied, "Top five."  He was right.  Shortly thereafter came "Chiseled in Stone" along with a bunch of great stuff. Still, he never got proper recognition.

    C.... ....

+CAROLVS He will always be known as " The Voice ", I think he was happy for that. I love his music.

    C.... ....

It's good to know there's still a few ol' country boys around.

  33. k.... o....

    hehe, I love that growl!!

    k.... o....

kelly o I can do that...

    k.... o....

Funny, that's what my husband said about Conway Twitty, he said "It's that growl, that turns women on, & they (Vern & Conway) both had it!

  34. M.... ....

Right here beside me is where you belong.........you got that right

  35. A.... B....

    Ahh damn it, Crosby 3

  36. M.... M....

Great song to dance to! Brings back many memories of the 1980s.

  37. V.... T....

I agree with Vern. This is too rock & roll. But he sure is good. If this got him into big time, let it roll.

  38. f.... p....

thats for sure there is no country today singers suck

    f.... p....

    BIG TIME!

  39. i.... ....

He is mainly known as a balladeer but this song very surprisingly fits his voice. What a talent he was!

    i.... ....

    She musta been twerking 😆

His voice reminds me of Ronnie Milsap mixed with Kenny Rogers

  40. A.... H....

  41. l.... ....

This isn't the Traditional Country sound that Vern was known for and did well at, but nonetheless, he did a great job with this song and the song itself is catchy. Rest in peace, Vern; you were good.

The "Voice" is better than George Jones any day of the week! Hell, God knows there can only be one "Voice" in heaven,,,,thats why Vern is holding a concert in heaven for God tonight with the angels singing backup!
