Velvet Underground, The - Rock And Roll Lyrics
Jenny said when she was just five years old
You know there's nothing happening at all
Every time she puts on the radio
There was nothing goin' down at all
Then one fine mornin' she puts on a New York station
She started dancin' to that fine fine music
You know her life was saved by Rock 'n' Roll
Despite all the amputations
You could just dance to a rock 'n' roll station
Jenny said when she was just five years old
My parents are gonna be the death of us all
Two TV sets and two Cadillac cars--
Ain't gonna help us at all
Then one fine mornin' she puts on a New York station
She don't believe what she heard at all
She started dancin' to that fine fine music
You know her life was saved by Rock 'n' Roll
Despite all the computations
You could just dance to a rock 'n' roll station
And it was alright.

67 square mofos deny a stark reality :that your life can be saved by rock and roll
Best VU song
Loaded was so much better than nico, not even a competition
The first bars of the song and I have to dance.
That was already 30 years ago.
fine fine music ......😊
Her life wasn't saved; Her mind was changed.
Brilliant song: groovy, bouncy, yet grounded. Life-affirming, Sincere.
this is the BEST version
THANK YOU FOR ALL LOU. THANKS FOR ALL, MAN.
This song is the perfect tonic for my mood today,
❤️
Despite all the amputations you could just dance to the rock n roll station, it was alright. Yeah, it was alright.
Now it’s time for life to save rock and roll.
I agree with you on that
@gary DIFFLEY you got life, life in you....you saved it.
If all audio equipment got fried, we would tell tales of how great music was between the 30s to 72.
Yeah - death to all this over-produced, un-original, heartless crap already.
As fresh as it was when it was originally recorded.
Also very important to know that they never made any money, so important for any music fan. This is God Like Genius.
Very cloe to the most important song of all time.
why do velvets fans all say shit like this? come the fuck on.
Two TV sets and two Cadillac cars . . . wait, according to the intelligentsia, that qualifies as poverty level.
Who else’s life was saved by rock and roll?
Sympathy For The Devil chords
great viola of John Cale
Try not dancing...
I love how mad the climax of this song is.
Was listening to the entirety of TVU+N, and this song came after the album ended with European Son as a sort of mixed TVU playlist as Spotify does. And honestly, this would be a PERFECT ending for that album, especially since the whole half is Incredibly dreary.
Hearing the Happiness in Reeds voice in this song .
Especially by the second verse .
Love it .
" fine fine music "
Romeo Alpha68 Hell dude, the backing acoustic riff alone can make the dreariest man happy in no time.
leçons en français .........cheers.
👍👍👍👍👍
The velvet underground is like a mix between bob dylan and the rolling stones
Have you heard Sister Ray?
Rock N Roll has so many great anthems, well Lou found one of them with this gem..
rock n' roll station !
How fucking cool is Lou Reed??
Ty Segall used part of this song on his song The Drag. I hear it
woodward season 9?
Where's Lou when we need him the most? Oh the songs he would of written regarding the "Coward In Chief" and the whore Melania.
To everyone who’s here listen .
You have a good taste of music
Thank you 😌
Yeah, go pat yourself on the back dweeb. You like what I like so you’re smart. Agreed? Good for us.
Nice name, No Body! I’d say we have similar names. Also, I cannot comprehend the previous reply as it seems to deprecate both you and the replier, which is quite odd to me
Hahah :-)
This is my favorite Velvet Underground song. Music saved my life. Thank God for Rock and Roll!
Very much like bob dylan
In this song there is The 60th Spirit! La viola di John Cale è un capolavoro... masterpiece!
Who F..k are those 44 people ??
Now is 45.
Civ IV brought me here.
What a beautiful sweet little simple yet profound guitar solo twice
Reminds me of the kinks with different levels on the amp.
FINE FINE music!
My life was saved by the Velvet Underground
I heard this at the end of the Brian Clough I believe in miracles documentary and had to find out what it was. This is a fantastic tune.
Same here bro. What a documentary, what an ending, what a song to discover.
Amazing song but it's doug yule singing not lou.
However I love it
you are wrong
@John Coan Totally. Reed has one of the most distinctive voices ever.
They velvets are for people who have heard too much music and want something different and unorthodox. They are the Ginsburg of music and that ain't a compliment to Ginsburg I fucking hate Ginsburg and Kerouac. Howl is what I want to do after reading that pretentious bullshit. It's just a comparison.
Most underrated band there is
Underrated? The Velvets??
Nah there definitely 'rated'.
Nah. Over-hyped for sure, but not underrated. A great NYC band.
in my opinion Detroit's version is the best one out there Steve Hunter killed it
Rock and Fucking Roll
Musically its a combo of the stones under my thumb and Roxy music's love is the drug terrific
"In 17 years you're gonna like it, my friends. You're gonna call it Shaun Ryder"
don't hear that at ALL
probably the origionaters of punk
martin smith they did it, along with Detroit bands like the stooges, mc5, and death. They all laid down the foundation for pumk, imo
Don't forget Bowie with ziggy stardust album as well.
Takes you to the depths of NYC 1970 like nothing else.
What a tune - thank you Lou - ROCK & FUCKIN ROLL!
Best song EVER prove me wrong.
no u provite it right
Allison eats Lou out
Kim Thayil sent me here.
from where
@The Lonely Traveller This link is the interview. He talks about this song re: Soundgarden "A Thousand Days before" slide solo. Here ya go -it's an awesome interview. https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/Interview_Soundgardens_Kim_Thayil

Ive been listening to soul exclusively lately and uni is cussing stressful and mighty lonely but this is a well deserved break : )
I think this is something like Proust to the new generation.
no seven volumes, just pure.
Rock 'n' Roll provides your civilization with five Hit Singles resources (which provide happiness). It increases the odds that its city will create a Great Artist.
this is definitely one of the best YouTube comments ever
Civ 4 baby
I'm dancing to that fine, fine music. It was alright...
It was aaaaaaaallright!
3:27 트로트?
Discovered this yesterday, half a life in!!!
....Makes me wanna shake my thang
this remastered version sounds pretty good. that's some nice tambourine work
Play that guitar!
I just heard this in the car this morning, rushed home and found it here! It's now my favorite!
And how can you not like this
2019, it's alright!
As a rule I love all art made under the influence of heroin
Erik Wright It's disgusting and killed plenty of people but it sure has made it's contribution to art and music, especially rock.
If I shit the bed, steal my granma's cuckoo clock, lose my teeth and call it art, will you love it?
@ComboverSoul tig perfect discription ,and I've been one! Lol
Love this. This one and Sweet Jane are my favourites from the Loaded album. I don't know what my favourite VU song overall is, there's so many great ones I couldn't possibly choose. I'm not very good at having favourites in general.
I don't listen to Jane anymore, but this is still good, though.
Am I the only one who thinks Loaded is their weakest album?
Not to say it's not a very good album, because it is, but compared to the first three it's not quite as intense and beautiful; it's more middle of the road. But then I think that was intentional. This was their 'classic rock' album.
The best one is the one you heard last.
Simple.
Who played bass?
I don't know, but it sounds damn good.
Doug Yule I believe
Doug Yule. Awesome bass on this album.
My life was saved by rock and roll.
Eyebrows raised. Really?
Really... for us :-)
Amen to that, Brother Paul! And Rabbi, it DID save MINE. Now it's my conduit to "The Source" as well as the one true and holy thing for me.
🤘🍻
if there's a religion here that matters is rock'n'roll. It saves lives.
Very few songs make me as happy as this one!!!!!
M A S T E R P I E C E
fabulous
This is always the first song I play whenever I pick up a guitar.
One of the finest songs ever written.
this song is ridiculously hard to play on guitar
I found it pretty easy, and I'm not even that good. what part were you stuck on?
Takes me back to highschool ... Los Angeles 2008 John F Kennedy high... Was a huge fan of Jane's addiction and discovered these guys thru perry farell and Dave navarro..
That's around the time I got into them as well, and I was also a senior in 2008 lol. I had a book that had "the best 500 albums ever" and Velvet Underground made quite a few mentions, so I checked em out and ended up loving them.
@Dildo Schwaggins wow aren't you guys just a couple of dinosaurs. College freshman here and I love velvet underground
Janes Addiction & Velvet Underground are both amazing groups of musicians
6 people took the time to give this a thumbs down huh? Please just fuck off next time and grow a bit in the process
One of the best songs ever!!!
Lou Reed and David Bowie, R.I.P. Iggy Pop is still with us!
I am so happy he still is here, but with the way he lived for a while I am surprised he didn't join them. But long live that beautiful man!
Who'd o' predicted that, amirite?
^^^ the real holy trinity
And Keith
It was alright!!
fk yeah
& this is supposed to be one of the greatest bands ever 😂🤦🏼♂️💩💩
You're an infant
Lol youre a fetus.
You're an idiot kid. Learn some basic music history.
Detroit's version of this kicked ass Steve Hunter took it to another level
They are good but overrated by hipsters. people have the gall to say they better than the Beatles 😂🤦, Lou Reed was so damn overrated. Frank Zappa >>>> Lou reeed
