Veil Of Maya - The Glass Slide Lyrics
Calibrate
Feel the vibrations
Lasso them
Hold on for the ride
Uprise inside calls to you
Cowards will call for
Design
I'll light the match3x
Can you take me down?
Ignite the fuse
Can you take me down?
Can you take me down?
Relay the message
Command yourself into
Twisted figurines [2x]
I see poems of rise
They know I live
Upon the glass slide
I know the truth
It's still denying me
I know the truth
It haunts me (it haunts me)
They know I
Live upon the
Glass slide
I know the truth
It haunts me (it haunts me)
Now test yourself
Challange it
Challange it
A failure of diamond design
Now test yourself
A breeding of
Under-archived.
Calibrate
Feel the vibrations
Lasso them
Hold on for the ride
I'll light the match
Can you take me down?
Ignite the fuse
Can you take me down?
Can you take me down?

The Uprising Part 3
The Uprising part 3 is what you mean
I love that this came directly after Mowgli on the autoplay list
Love this!
snorted ketamine with this band once
wow! i cant imagine doing K with my favorite band... LUCKY
I heard a joke about that it was Special... K?
+peter sutcliffe I know this was 2 years ago, but if you're still alive please tell the story my dude.
Im fucking dead 😝
Yo fuck yeah lol, that'd be tight
putting vocals over 2:10 is a mistake imo. That's one of the most beautifully written parts i've ever heard, but they decided to put "brutal" vocals over it.
@Arnold Gonzalez Science/Theory elitist answer… no chord only distance between two sounds, therefore making it feels. I could emulate the exact same sonic sound with a different chord :P. And even could do it without changing the tuning I suspect, just matching vibrations and distances. If you have head phones on and could alternate each string of the chord to each ear you would hear the strings vibrating + the difference in frequency of the strings vibrating (I.E. A Binaural beat) 1 string is at 100hz another string at 105hz, you will hear 100hz 105hz and 5hz (the difference) because you're brain is fancy.
i think it actually fits well. it'd be too sparse if there were just this part. it'd be too pretentious "look at how pretty i can make metal be, if i want. pay special attention to the prettiness." nah man, let me just listen to a song for what it is.
for the record, i never thought i'd even be commenting in a serious way on a video by a band that in my opinion has kind of a mediocre name.
@*****
Fuck u bitch!
I think it works great, gives it a Being As An Ocean type feel having harsh, "desperate" sounding vocals over a pretty part.
In my opinion that part sounds very desperate and the vocals hit it perfectly. It's what I like to call "beautiful screaming".
I love this song, does anyone know any general idea of what this song is about?
well he's screaming because he broke his glass slide. and now has to use a lighter on stage like a noob
Matt Ahn I've been hoping this was another Dexter reference but I can't find anything to back it up
@isaac Scott misha isn't the one who made djent. All he did was interpret djent - which came from Meshuggah - and turned it into post hardcore. Djent is used to describe the sound that the guitar makes and IS a genre since all Djent bands have a certain sound that makes them Djent like Deathcore bands have there sound that sounds similar.. Same goes with grind, thrash, pop, rap, jazz, country and tejano
They're not "Djent", the distinct sound you are referring to is:
Staccato/Syncopation
Chugging
Moderate/Heavy Distortion (varies with bands)
Mid Driven Guitar Tones (So you can hear the lower strings separation instead of feeling it with no clarity but tons of bass, which has been a tone used in metal forever either way you look at it.)
Sometimes with polyrhythmic composition in terms of one instrument playing a polyrhythm alone or a combination of instruments forming a polyrhythm and odd time signatures or odd bar repetition in 4/4.
None of that is new..
If anything it'd be like Jazz/Metal or Fusion/Metal that just popped up but a guitar sound as a genre is pretty lame IMO. This phenomena also brought back the sneak rap/rock genre and disguised it as "NuDjent" I believe the headline said. I'm not going to name any of the bands becuase they were good musicians and produced well but its literally raprock but composed in a more mature/musically sensible way it really feels like new-age RATM, Hed PE, Limp Bizkit, Chronic Future, P.O.D., (early) Linkin Park, morphed into Hollywood undead and some others which didn't stick for too long, and now theres the "NuDjent" replica's of this, proving music is a living thing, this is a DNA strand floating in music for ever, angry rap rockers. Again just my opinion but "Djent" just shouldn't be a genre.
@Ian Jackson They do have pretty post hardcore styled vocals
djent isn't a genre... Its more of a technique classified by the emphasis on the lower notes and how they're played creating the name, and sound. Although polyrhythmic patterns help make it interesting... Its not needed. And most of them ARE just chugs and cross rhythms. I love technical music. But people are feeding way too much into this whole DJENT SCENE
Satan djent is freacking genre if you don't believe it just fucking search it on wikipedia.
There was a kid in 8th grade named Teddy we nicknamed him Tejano....fucking pissed him off
Best intro riff ever?
Check out their song Mowgli, it's almost the same intro :)
@Gebrilas The sound came from the first album, from the song The Uprising. (:
It's not safe to swim today has the best opening in my opinion
The intro from numerical scheme is the best
Ughhhh... Djent is 4 string power chord, a sound. Not a sub genre, a sound, said by Misha himself, the Mocha Reptilian Guitar Lord.
new VoM song, same djent argument
Djent is definitely a subgenre of metal. There is no pantheon of musical apple geniuses that decides what is and isn't a genre. If large quantities of people group different musical songs together due to similarities in style, form, or structure and decide to call it "booger anus" then "booger anus" is a genre of music. Quit being pretentious and just listen to it if you like it.
Who cares if is Djent or not Djent? VoM is one of the greatest bands out there. If u get a chance to see them live do it!
0:20-0:30 soca time?
Veil of is the best band ever
i think djent works well as a genre nowadays. if you say you listen to djent everyone knows what you're talking about. i agree Veil of Maya is not so djent-ish but this ''is djent a genre'' -has been on for too long. (and i probably started it again lol.) If we should not call it a genre it's still a good tag.
This isn't djent, dumbass.
Get intelligent.
i lol'd hard. xD
Check this out! /watch?v=PuPgyQRO9e0
Djent. Plain and simple.
The fact that you struggled to log in to your account just to say that proves that you're a butthurt scenefag. You obviously haven't heard the new TBDM album if that's your opinion of them. Maybe you should quit this little phase of yours and start discovering good music.
turn off your computer you weenie.
It's not an opinion. It's a fact.
how can i prove an opinion wrong?
Trying to prove me wrong but can't i'm guessing?
ive been staring at this comment for 20 minutes
We all have a few problems don't we? That's what keeps people from becoming egotistical narcissistic maniacs. Maybe you're the one with the problem here of being an ignorant fuck and interrupting someone else's conversation with something that isn't even relevant.
Dude, you seriously have a problem
you know zero
It would seem that an outlawed pigeon has been taught how to both skateboard and use a keyboard to release its own internet aggression. Whoever did this, I would really love to congratulate your talents in animal training.
I am laughing.
Outlaws9295 is a fucking moron, everyone. Point and laugh.
Now I know i'm dealing with someone who knows nothing about metal subgenres. Since you know nothing about music, this might be more in your taste. All the people with no music taste are listening to it.
/watch?v=icXUkIfZxyg
Now I know I'm dealing with a troll. Going to listen to this song again and continue on with my life.
August Burns Red is metal. AILD is metal. A7x is rock, Ateyu is rock. You obviously know nothing if you aren't aware of this. There's huge differences between all those bands. You know you've hit metalcore when it all sounds the same. Like this song for example.
I'm sorry, but I have to say this. ABR is THE definition of metalcore. lol Oh and AILD was at the front of the metalcore breakthrough along with A7X, Bleeding Through, Atreyu, etc.
"Core" metal is only different in that it usually has catchy riffs. As far as TBDM being "real death metal" hah. Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, etc are real death metal. I listen to those as well. You are putting a wall up and blocking out subgenres for no reason. Open your mind and just enjoy the music.
I never said it requires solos, but some of the best bands have solos because they have the experience and know-how. As far as the standards of most other real metal bands, this band is generic at best. Also, i've listened to both of those bands and they suck. They're in the core genres. Core genres are never as good as the real thing. It's like a kiddie version of the genre from which it attempts to create. This is metalcore. TBDM is an example of real death metal.
You have mistaken me. I did not say this was the greatest band to ever exist. In fact I have just started listening to them because I saw some of the guitarist's interviews/lessons. Good music doesn't require solos in every song either. As far as TBDM, I could never get into them because I dislike their vocals. If you want an all around good metal band (that even plays solos!) try The Faceless or All Shall Perish.
You can barely make out the guitar as it is drowned out by the generic bass. You know where pretty neat riffs come from? Search up any song by The Black Dahlia Murder. They even incorporate solos into their songs. I don't see this having a solo do you? And you people call this real metal. I laugh at your ignorance.
If you think they suck that is just ignorance. This guitar player clearly has had a lot of practice and writes some pretty neat riffs. Give credit where credit is due.
Hey dude could you give us fans an explanation as to what the lyrics in this song mean? I've wondered since the album came out what you mean by "they know I live upon the glass slide" as well as the rest of the song.
spartan346 listen to Dark Passenger and this. They are both about the Tv Show Dexter.
Yep djent toned Tech Death and Deathcore
This is Technical Death Metal(djent toned)/Deathcore or some would say Tech Deathcore
It's not my fault this band sucks ass.
Did I say they were best in the genre? I don't think I did dumbass, check again. I said they were better than this shitty band. Also, why the fuck would I want to know about metalcore when I can know about true metal. Metalcore is like the simplified pussy version of metal. Yanno the shit these posers try to pull off but ultimately fail at? Bands like As I Lay Dying, The Black Dahlia Murder, August Burns Red, etc. that's where the real metal sound is at unlike this poor excuse for a band.
So do I lol
Nice internet tough guy act/argument inducing act you got going. I'll leave you be.
And you're just butthurt. Is there a point to all this or do you just like making irrelevant comments?
You're just asking for bad things
I guess its a bit judgmental but I assume anyone who says that Asking Alexandria is their favorite band/best in the genre knows nothing about metal core in general or are trying to hard to fit in with certain group of people. But I totally agree with you.

Da fuck you talking about?
Biggg recording fail at 3:00 - 3:05 loll still my favorite of the album
Veil of Maya should be embarrassed that you have them in same category as AA
I have a theory that there are 4 parts and its torn away is really pt 2 cause it has similarities as fat as the chords are concerned
* part 3, technically The Uprising from the first album is part 1
go watch Ed's Furry guide to Metal and you'll know what im talking about :)
LMAO WHATTTT???
I see what you did there..
The Uprising part 3
veil of maya core
Lounge
Vegetarian Progressive Grindcore
I just said said the same thing lol. Oops
Actually, Mowgli was part 2 of a song called The Uprising. This song was originally named The Third Uprising. So yeah, this is part 3. (:
Yay, I'm glad someone mentioned that. They're all three incredible songs :D
