Stevie Ray originally wrote Pride and Joy in 76 or 77 for his girlfriend at the time (Not Lenny). When he played it for he she got mad and said he wrote it about another girl. After their argument he wrote these lyrics. He decided he wanted to play both live so he wrote a different intro and change a few arrangements and at first called it "Live Another Day" then eventually changed it to "I'm Cryin'" when he recorded it for Texas Flood. He kept the original musical arrangements with the original lyrics and played them alternatively before Texas Flood was released and Pride and Joy became huge

Davilo Olivad Stevie originally wrote pride and joy for a girlfriend he had at the time. She listened to the song and thought it was about someone else so he came out with this song after they broke up
