Likewise, I would never throw someone or something I like under the bus to gain favor, and if one of my friends asked me if I like this song, I would own it (so my original comment was a tad bit of an exaggeration). The fact is that screamo is still a black sheep in the world of rock music, and so I don't advertise my affection for this song (Im not ape on this band as a whole, but this song gets me).

Like I said, none of my friends would ever dislike me or betray me for my taste in music, but I take a certain pleasure in being the guy who is known by his friends as "the guy that never ___". We all ____ sometimes, but some of us both *can* and *choose* to portray an image where we *seem* to never ____. It is the life I lead, and it can be work, even to the point of exhausting, but for me, the benefit outweighs the costs.

I bear no judgement to those -like yourself -however, who instead choose complete transparency on the subject of ____, and I can even say there is something admirable about it (though, admittedly, I think there can be something idyllic/admirable about my lifestyle as well, in certain contexts). Its just a different culture that I live in. My friends and I mock each other. Tbh, Im better at it than they are, but we all get our digs in. Its not like any of us are contemplating suicide because we are worried that our life choices and preferences in music make us something less than human, its just that we like to make fun of and ridicule each other.

I have friends that can't live like that, and thats okay. Neither me nor my other friends ever teases that person when that is the case, but by and large I surround myself with people with that competitive proverbial bloodlust because we all thrive on it. If hiding this song on my ipod is the price I pay, so be it.
