Vanessa Carlton - London Lyrics
Waste away the days
Waiting on a new age
But time betrays me
And I get older one more year
Go anywhere but home
'Cause I'm looking for the secrets
That only cobble stones hold
Only the cobble stones know
And I've never been so sure
That after all these years, I'll never learn
That heavenly creatures never come
You've got a knife-throwing kind of love
And I know I've made a mess of things
And I'm sorry for all that
Wish we could get the time back
Because I've never been so sure
That after all these years, I'll never learn
That heavenly creatures never come
Wait for it
Wait for it
Now I'm staring at the sun
As if there's a riddle I'm not in on
'Cause the wolves howl to the Moon
And she never answers back
No, she never answers back
And after all these years, I'll never learn
That heavenly creatures never, never been so sure
That after all these years, I'll never learn
That heavenly creatures never come, oh
Waste away the days
Waiting on a new age

Vanessa Carlton London Comments
My interpretation about this song is about, the girl who previously believed in to "the second coming"!
The more she grows up, her belief starts to fade away. She’s waiting and asking about the second coming that seems never come.
She puts the analogy between "the second coming" with the wolf that howling to the moon, as a form of communication that was never reciprocated.
It still baffles me how this was not made specifically for the infernal devices. I can't get over how spot on It is
2018 ❤

You've got a knife-throwing kind of love But your silence cuts the deepest And I know I've made a mess of things And I'm sorry for all that Wish we could get the time back"
Yup, I' ve always found those lyrics the most profound and true in the song!
By the way, is Vanessa popular now and doing well? Good for her, she deserves it!
friendly reminder that there's nothing wrong with new fans that come along with a new album; we welcome you all with open arms.
Especially considering this album absolutely shits on her previous work.
Any original fans feeling a bit hipster-ish with all these newcomers?

2:38 - 2:54 favorite piano part <3
dl it in FLAC you'll heard the difference
I can see her other albums after 1:40 <3
Ce titre est très bon, ça démarre vraiment à partir de 1.40 min. Ma préférence va toujours pour "hear the bells" cependant.
I love this song..like all of Rabbits on the Run. This one is really dreamy and it feels like you're drifting along.
@leo87272 I think thats what they were saying, sort of. It's Winding but without the ING, windy. Like Winedy but that wouldnt be how you spell it I guess.
I think she sings: "Walk London's WINDING streets"... what do you think?
My new favorite song. I love her <3
