Van Morrison - Born To Sing Lyrics
Man can be king
Seems to have everything
But it comes with a sting
When you were born to sing
It's not done on a whim
Passion's everything
When you were born to sing
Feeling good
Singing the blues
It ain't easy
Keep on paying dues
When it gets to the part
Deep down in your heart
You know you were born to sing
When you came in
No original sin
You were a king
Because you were born to sing
Reason doesn't walk in
It's not done on a whim
Passion's everything
When you were born to sing
Lord, feeling good
Singing the blues
Keep on keeping on
Paying them dues
When it comes to the part
Well let's not stop and start
Deep down in your heart
Baby you were born to sing
When it gets to the part
When the band starts to swing
Then you know everything
'cause you were born to sing
When it gets to the part
When the band starts to swing
Then you know everything
'cause you were born to sing

Van Morrison Born To Sing Comments
Yeah Van was/is definitely "born to sing"!!!!💚
in addition to his wonderful songwriting and singing, Van also plays a very soulful sax -- a soulful experience
Shared on Facebook, August 31, 2018 : *Happy Birthday!*
august 2018...still the best...Van You are the best
I like his music and lyrics but from a song writing point of view he uses the same chords over and over
have seen van morrison many times in the 80is in marin county...............and he is still going......1love
Have you listened to his "live 1984 Midem Cannes Concert" concert" just great
I listen to it over and over again
van morrison let me sing
vi er vel vokst opp med den samme musikken du og jeg.
Thanks to 94.1 Fm here on the Gold Coast Australia for Jamming this the other night as I slept in bed. Woke up straight away and Siri told me the name of the track.
Somebody said something about him being 67 and wearing a scarf Believe it or not it does get cold in Ireland. Moreover the scarf like the dark glasses look cool. Age 67 is too young to think that you have to cover your wrinkles. Now if Van is still turning out great music at the age of 90 in 2035 then you may have a point regarding his scarf. It wasn't used to cover wrinkles, it was used because it looks cool and because other former great musicians his age said they have retired because we look ridiculous playing while looking so old. Cool looking is in the eye of the beholder. It reminds me of a old Twilight Zone show where this poor young lady was supposed to be so very ugly. They operated on her 11 times, and the last operation didn't work either. When the doctor pulled off the bandages he yelled out with a feeling of wanting to puke, NO CHANGE! Through out the show they never showed the faces of the people who thought this young woman was so ugly, at the end of the show when that doctor yelled, YAK, NO CHANGE! They showed the patient, a beautiful woman, and everyone else very very ugly. Apparently she was born on the wrong planet. Beauty IS in the eye of the beholder.
We all love you Van. You don't need a scarf, We all get old. Especially if your a great musician .
congrats SIR Van Morrison!
Get funky, funky as you want to be. I remember hearing that cool suggestion in a song you did a long time ago. I implemented it in the right place of the song singing live and everyone thought " I " was, cool, but I stole that from you, but I didn't tell them that, GET FUNKY, AS FUNKY AS YOU WANT TO BE!
Want to hear a good Obeo, put "Got to go back" in You Tube's search engine. A song about 1957 when Van was 12 and setting in school and looking out the window and dreaming. I did that too in the 50's and 60's alltho I didn't dream big enough.
Great stuff as usual Van, I just would have loved to see Shana rock to the music a few more times is all. She looks like she could be as funky as you.
Van el mejor...
Get funky VAN, and SHANA too, as funky as you want to be. You are the best at getting FUNKY! You know I got that cool line from you in another song and I put it to work at Karaoke's over the years and the crowd loved it. Thank You!
Does VANMORRISONOFFICIAL mean that these songs were uploaded by Van Morrison? Now I know what Van's Mother looked like and one reason why she was so popular, Shana is the 2015 version of the 1935 Violet, Van's mother who was a great jazz singer back then taught this young angel how to sing during the 70's when she was age 3 to 6.
I'm going over to "Gotta get back" and "Slipstream", two more super great songs by The Genius Van Morrison!
Van and Shana were both born to sing, it's so obvious that they don't have to think twice about what their CALLING is!
Yes that beautiful woman singing in the background was Shana Morrison, Van's daughter. I thought she was age 30 max, but she was born in 1970 which would make her 42 on this video. She is super cute and I remember hearing her sing a duet with Van called "YOU DON'T KNOW ME", she has a better voice then Van! I last night read when her Grand Mother( who used to be a popular jazz singer during WW2) back in the 70's used to sing to her little grand daughter all afternoon. Can you imagine having Violet Morrison, her Grand Mother (nice name that you don't hear anymore) and her father Van teaching you music from as far back as you can remember. I'm looking forward to learning more about SHANA MORRISON. She looks good, she moves to the music good, and she sounds good, what more can you ask for! O'h yes, she has her own career today!
Was that Van's daughter singing in the back ground? Her voice sounded similar to his daughter's voice. Van's mother was a great jazz singer and if her voice sounded anything like Van's daughter's voice I can see (or hear) why she was a great jazz singer.
This is finally my first hearing since Van released this album in 2012, and I thought, "OH MY GOSH HE HAS STILL TURNED OUT ANOTHER NEW ALBUM", and like most of his albums you are not disappointed but thrilled. At this stage in Van's life I think that it is impossible for him to turn out a album that doesn't rate a 10 on a 1 to 10 rating.
♥♡♥born to sing
Oh that warm feeling hearing you sing Van. Bravo. You are King who is born to sing. Passion is everything. Feeling good hearing you sing the blues. Thank you for giving us your music, all 50+ albums.
and Clinton thinks he can play...
happy earthstrong van morrision......jah bless
Happy Birthday, Van Morrison. You certainly were born to sing (and write, record, perform). VIVA Van!
I have listened to almost no one else for the last three or so years. No one else gives me the peaceful state of mind that I get from this MAN.
Sounds like a Ray Charles song.
When you think he cannot get any better he really comes though with one more. Love this.
so where do we buy this from you direct?
Amazon I have complete discography. I have met him often allover the world. I pay full price for the Sir Van the Man.
Minimal interaction, notoriously private. Respect.
It's Music.
Since 1978 I have seen him 100s times. He has the Healing Touch. Better than Vicar Pastor Reverend....
Van the man!
Belfast is Van Morrison, congratulations man.
On St. Pats Day in 1982 I went into Sam the Record Man store looking for new mature rock, 'Beautiful Visions' was playing, I bought the album, since that day, Van replaced Bob Dylan as my all time favorite musician, and he just kept getting better with age, he didn't conform like so many of his contemporaries, he just wrote what HE liked which is probably why he still to this day in 2013 is the last great rock n roller from the 60's, and in my opinion the best!
I'm a new-ish fan, but catching up fast! I saw Van Morrison play live at the Larmertree festival and was blown away! The voice, the words, the instruments, the technique, and THE MAN!! I really love all his music throughout the decades, also the way his voice has changed also! Seeing him live made my year! Thanks Van!!
If only You really meant all you sent to me in messages and invitatioons, i would be healed and happy and living in peace with a proud heart! truly madam George/Boffyflow 250 871 2882leave message please

Going to see him at the Royal Albert Hall, 30th October - the best birthday present I've had in years! Can't wait, having never seen him live!
Born to listen to the man. Beautiful Van.Makes me happy to hear him. Soul man.
Ottimo ristoro per lo spirito.Grazie Van
Su voz es una gran compañia en nuestras noches, y nuestro pub se llama Morrison en su honor, gracias.
Love this song; love this man. Van has been there with me through some good and bad times. He was born to sing. Love you dude.
what a bland song, shame on you, Van
can't help feel a formula is being used for his songs of late
still the best grumpy ol man singer going
Ain't that the truth!
The Man.
I love this kind of music
superbe il revient notre jeunesse!
Une Légende! EEEEEnaurme!!!
Have always enjoyed Van Morrison. But for a real treat, search for Van and Bob Dylan in, I believe somewhere in Scotland.
They dont make like this anymore.
Van still got the rythemmmmm. Born to sing.. Yessirreee you was.
They actually play musical instruments :>}
Great as always!!
magical
new album by the Man...
one of these times where the world seems to still have some hope
van morrison is a true musician. all songs come from heart. no need for using computerized-crap!
I agree, alought I hate to admit it. Van has been my inspiration since 1964 but, like all good things, as time goes by the spark diminishes but I will always be a great fan.
Still a genius...over 6 decades !!!!
I've been listening to this talented whack job since the 60's lol ... It's been interesting listening to him as his style changed over the decades. I really do like this song. Van Morrison has worn well over the years. Good to hear him coming up with new music to like and not travelling the "Oldies" circuit doing songs that are 50 years old. Good work Van!
Van Morrison truly 1 of the greatest ever. no pomp no big light show. Ivan is all about the music. His best songs: (to me anyway) Ballernia, into the mystic, in the garden, listen to the lion, and of course me and my wifes song, our marriage song. *** I'll be you lover too***
Van is tired, I'm afraid
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
beautiful....
VAN THE MAN!
This is absolutely fantastic. Mr Morrison is as great now as he was when he started; no, he's even better now - definitely born to sing, no need for any plan b. Thank you Mr Morrison, we love you.
Fantastic !! Love it..
"Very Nice. Very Van"
Good to see you Shanna! You sound great! The both of you were meant to sing together and it is Magic. Hope all the best for you, Van and Mossimo.
Nice to see Shana in the band!
The man is pure musical magic, period. I have not purchased an Album in 20 years, this will break that drought. Let's hope Van comes to Southwest Florida in the near future, but I've been known to travel a few thousand miles to hear him.
"One More Time" love The Man
Been a fan since the early 70's. This man is a talent hard to match, can't wait to hear more!
He still sings to my heart...after all these years.
2 words VANTASTIC
How bout rocking in the US?
great!!! please more of the same..
