I really like this song, but the production Ed's guitar is awfully thin and over processed compared to the rest of the album. There's so much effects on the guitar that it's lost that famous EVH crunch. Still a great song, and Sam's vocal on the chorus is incredible.

If I could go back to the day I was walkin' in a mall record store to buy this, on cassette I'm sure, man oh man! A time when record stores were thriving. Probably a warm early summer day. Great time to be in your teens and twenties in the 1980's! Rock n Roll, and music in general, was so awesome. I guess we didn't realize just how awesome of a time it was because it was everywhere. Music had been such a deep emotional tool for us all since rock n roll had begun in the 1950's. We just took it that it would always sound and feel this way. I sure do miss that feeling we got from music.

It was a great time to be young. I am really sad for younger people today because I feel like they are missing out on such a great experience like we had. Musical tastes change over time. Maybe rock really will die. But hopefully something with the same soul and fun will come around to replace it. I just don’t think that replacement has come yet.

I miss that tone from Ed! It just had that "inside an empty room", in a good way, echo to it. He used it last on this record, and then went to his "muddy" tone. Love it all though! Rock on VH! I really like the outro solo btw, Ed is burnin' here.

Everything about this song is so awesome.  The guitar, drums, bass, vocals, everything.  Definitely an underrated song.  For me, I like David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar as the singers.  I'll take either any day.

According to Sammy’s Red autobiography, Alex didn’t play as radically on OU812 as he did on 5150 after sobering up. Drunk, Al was off the hook, but sober his drumming was a little more conservative. His timing was better, but he wasn’t as radical. Personally, I think Al’s drumming was just as good here.

Don't get me wrong, I love this album, just saying.

Although this song kicks major ass, it's lazy writing on Sammy's part. He is on record about how hard he worked and slaved over "Mine All Mine" which is one of his greatest lyrical treatments to any song he's ever been involved with, but often, Sam got lazy with his rhymes and overall ideas when with Van Halen. He had the superior voice by every metric and let that carry him because, to my mind, he has one of the top 5 voices in rock history. Just amazing. But lyrically, the lyrics are just lazy. He could have done so much better.

Sad part: they sold just as many albums with Dave, than they did with Sammy. (I'm not counting Diver Down) who would?

Seriously, I'm a huge DLR buff as well, nothing beats that era but other Hagar songs i think are great are, Amsterdam, Judgement Day,Get UP and a couple others, I also like some of the softer tunes they had with Hagar, but make no mistake ROTH ERA RULED ALL!!!!!
